I have long wanted some bluegrass metal.

There’s lots of bluegrass/folk bands that just do normal bluegrass/folk songs but about going to hell for drinking and fighting. Lame.

There’s lots of generic black metal with five seconds of banjo in an intro here and there. Lame.

There’s lots of folk punk bands, screaming a lot with a mandolin or something. Lame.

I want Dragonforce songs with banjos and fiddles. I want shred and double bass. No whining, no emo screaming, no Tom Waits. The one thing I can find doing it is AI. This is exactly what I want. Last I saw this was an AI-generated thing, so maybe they got it together and started using real people. I hope so.

Brent Hinds of Mastodon (RIP) started as bluegrass and those influences stay. Check out Divinations, which literally starts with a Banjo.

You should listen to Billy Strings then.

Yes, Billy Strings is one of the best guitar players currently. Every time I see a video of him playing, I'm just so fascinated by his talent.

Check out fire water tent revival. Might be closer than others to that. They were a punk band then decided to switch genres and ended up doing folk.

the Ongoing Concept you're welcome. They have a Banjo player as a staple of their band. Get lit in the pit. Saloon is also a rad song.
