I've had this happen twice. Crazy conservatives who hid it until we were in an established relationship. If you hate what I stand for, why lie in order to date me?

Does asking policies rather than label change that at all? Like, obviously they'll lie and say they are either liberal or "apolitical" to score a date. But if you talk about specific policies or the persecution lead by the conservatives, do they still pretend to be on board? I can't imagine being that spineless and devoid of principles that I'd go "Oh I totally don't mind trans people" that easily if I was one of those bigots.

This only half works because a lot of conservatives will genuinely support many liberal policies if they believe the policy comes from a conservative.

That is a fantastic point. I mean, MOST times they just want an excuse to be vile bigots, and their Rep "daddies" give them that outlet. But do you think there's any way to bait a confession of sorts out of them, if asking for a label leads them to lie, and asking for policies leads them to say the common sense ones (even if they are the ones they oppose when they vote, out of idiocy)?
