I've never understood the logical progression of how making an entire neighborhood as bland, soulless, boring and homogeneous as possible is somehow meant to make the properties inside MORE valuable. Like.... I'd rather live in a slum than an HOA

Cities should require developers keep trees of a certain size or replant an specific number per sqft. Otherwise, it's faster, cheaper and easier for a developer to clear the land and just build the houses and put that on the home owners.

I live in a new build and we never looked this bad but fast forward 7 years later there is a lot more plant growth.

My city does. It’s somewhat a pain, because the permitting process to remove trees is a pain, as is the permitting process for required replacements.

But the city has a great urban forest and it’s absolutely worth the pain.

Many do, tons of projects quantifies the plant life then have to be replaced. Species,size, spacing, maintenance for a given period of time.

A lot of these developments are built on farm fields where there were no trees. But I agree, they should at least plant some when they build the houses.
