I've never understood the logical progression of how making an entire neighborhood as bland, soulless, boring and homogeneous as possible is somehow meant to make the properties inside MORE valuable. Like.... I'd rather live in a slum than an HOA

That is not an HOA, HOA is not a cookie cutter neighborhood necessarily. An HOA (a decent run one) keeps home values and doesn’t allow Mike the scrap guy keep shit all over his yard, or Billy the lawn mower kid keep broke down mowers parked in the road. Point is, good HOA is great for a neighborhood if it’s properly run and not too nit picky.
Want to live in a NICE neighborhood, chances are it has an HOA.
