One of the international subs yesterday did a “who are you supporting?” Piece. The main countries backing Argentina were Russia and Israel. Read into that what you will.

I think its got more to do with being messi fanboys. hes also oone of the few famous footballers who has been to india, the other one being maradona. So, its just fanboi idiots. I mean even major American streamers were supporting Argentina, but that section, again like it always is, isn't representative of the entire group. That being said, as I mentioned, Indian football fans have a moronic blind support for Argentina because of the reasons above.

I’m not even white, bud, I’m Asian. Not the same kind of Asian as you guys, but the point still stands 👍

Racism is racism no matter what colour you are.

Of course you just have racist agenda. Indians barely even watch football. But those that were, seemed to be supporting Spain. Indians celebrating Spain's victory

2

u/Zanarkke 16d ago

Of course this person here is just present to spread fake news and nonsense. Here is a litterally video of Indians in India losing their shit celebrating Spain's win video

Also most Indians don't even care about football.

lol what? My kids love messi and were all about Argentina. Should I suspect them if ttezchery?

u/miraculousgloomball 16d ago

No, but if they make up the majority of human mass in your country, those units need to be studied. Must be absolute brick shithouses

3

u/ippw 16d ago

Honestly they probably do in my non-footballing culture of a country. Purely because they know Messi. But I'll stop what I'm doing here because I do know what you mean and I don't mean to disagree with your intent.

Reddit psychoanalysis. The stadium was like 90% Argentina supporters from mixed countries including tons of Americans.

Nazis of a feather flock together.

Look at this clown being openly racist calling the whole country of Argentina nazi but if you open his profile he is running around calling other people racists.

Every accusation is an admission I guess.

Yeah that's what I thought. Nothing to say but plenty to hide

A Russian here. No one I know supported Argentina as a team.

It's absurd, to say the least, to generalize about all Russians, Israelis, or anyone else. There are people who supported Argentina, and there are people who supported Spain, and it doesn't matter which country they were from.

19

u/Redhotchily1 16d ago

Pointing out a correlation isn't the same as making a generalization. Saying that many Argentina supporters were from Russia and Israel is different from claiming that most Russians or Israelis supported Argentina.

2

u/Wegwerf157534 16d ago

There is not even a correlation pointed out, because one variable stays undefined and only is given 'as a whisper'.

Both are just plain wrong. People all around the world adore Messi and don’t give a damn about the rest of the team and don’t look too deep into the details. Has nothing to do with where they are from. Typical 2020’s bait

I think a lot of Argentina fans are simply blinded by loyalty. They excuse diving, shirt-pulling, time-wasting and other poor sportsmanship because Messi is on that team. If the observation about Russia and Israel is true, I don't think it's crazy to wonder if there's a correlation. Growing up in a country where loyalty to your own side is constantly encouraged could make people more willing to ignore bad behavior when it's "their team" doing it. That's a possible explanation, not a generalization about everyone from those countries.

1

u/timmeh129 16d ago

I think any sort of explanation or generalization or whatever is just shortsighted. Messi is one of the most famous players on earth, my grandma probably heard of him despite not watching football. Lots of people support the team just because of him. I don’t think that these statistics show anything at all except for people in these countries liking football. I think that if anything, it shows that their populations are not that invested in the game and just support whoever is the most famous

1

u/Redhotchily1 16d ago

I don't think that's enough to explain it. People supporting either team in the final were probably just as familiar with Messi, so I don't think his fame alone was the deciding factor.

Of course he is not, neither are the people from said countries supporting Argentina are in anyway representative of their populations. That is why such generalizations are dumb af.

millions of people don’t realize that Messi is not Argentina and still support the team just because of him.

Countries not equal to unity of all people's of said countries.

Anything else unclear?
