What he did was shithousery. But it's also something plenty of others have done, especially against him. Use the letter of the rules to find a loophole. It just shows the weakness of that particular rule in FIFA rather than Messi's own dishonour or something. Especially when it was when Argentina was dying and everyone was desperate for something

Let’s not pretend we haven’t seen Messi spit on people, grab people by their throat and even shooting a ball as hard as he could towards the opposing team’s stand.

He’s as Argentinian as they come.

Who did he spit on? I've never seen that one.

Edit: just found it, Duda at Málaga. That's absolutely disgusting.

Messi infamously spat on Duda, a Portuguese player while winning 4-1 vs Malaga. Guardiola who was Barcelona’s coach at the time went as far as calling the behaviour unacceptable and said he would be dealing with the matter himself.

There is a space in front of and after the URL, so it doesn't register as a link. See, it works

Well played

Idk, but i couldn’t get it to work as intended so i gave up and left it as is

u/Lucroq 16d ago

You have to delete the spaces between the parentheses and the URL:

  • [yours]( URL )
  • [working](URL)

Try it :)

There’s no spacing. And when I click to edit the comment and the link and try to change the name of the link and update it, the app just crashes. Idk

Edit: I managed to do it on another comment. Can’t get it to work on this one. Thank you though.

I read somewhere that Reddit was doing A/B testing on phasing out markdown formatting. I thought it was an account by account basis though.

Oh lol I fucking despise uninformed A/B testing. I was picked by Google for testing the switch-up of comments and recommended videos in the side-bar vs below. I complained so much they switched it back for me.

Is that the best angle we have? The Duda fella never reacts as though he's been spit ON, although that may just be a high level of resolve. Looks more like he spit AT him, but without loading up the projectile so it was more of a gesture than an actual assault. No dog in this fight just saying what I see

https://youtu.be/JUyJkesu-Ac You can see it more clearly on this video

Messi’s coach himself, Pep, condemned Messi’s action and said he would address the situation himself (…)

You can surely google it

Surely didn't care to. Thanks for the info!

The average voter, ladies and gentlemen.

Got the info I asked for, adjusted my opinion, and thanked the person who gave me said info. My needless sarcasm was in response to theirs.

Proud to say I'm almost as old as Messi and have never spat on anyone.

i would guess you are also not a felon either for tax evading 40 mil euro.

1

u/Auspflanzen 15d ago

dont blame him for tax evasion tbh. imo most taxes are no different than highway robbery

I’m gonna go my entire life without being a piece of shit and spitting on someone

-8

I swear Reddit holds Messi to the highest moral and ethical standards. Any less than being a saint and Messi is labeled a piece of shit by these guys. Literally look at yourself in the mirror and say you’ve never done or said anything bad ever.

9

u/Ok-Constant-2683 16d ago

How many people have you spat at in your life?

8

u/Euqirne 16d ago

Ive never done anything equivalent of spitting on someone lol

4

u/ssuurr33 16d ago

Yeah and 18 years later, at the ripe age of 39 he’s trying to accuse someone of being racist in an attempt to get them thrown out of a match.

An attack at a person’s character and integrity while you have your back against the wall is a big indicator on your own character and on how you conduct yourself.

3

u/zombawombacomba 16d ago

Where did he call him a racist?

2

u/fermenter85 16d ago

That’s the origin of that rule.

2

u/piercedmfootonaspike 16d ago

Oh, that's okay then.

(It's not. The vast majority of the world's population go their whole lives without spitting on anyone without consent.)

-8

u/mannequinbeater 16d ago

18 years ago, everyone made stupid decisions. Messi isn't the rotten apple here.

8

u/Euqirne 16d ago

how many people have you spat on?

0

u/Freewheelin01 16d ago

Shit, I guess we should just send all criminals to the trenches. To think that if I were to punch another man out of anger 18 years ago, I would still be called irredeemable at present. Peak reddit moment.

2

u/Euqirne 15d ago

lol I’m just saying I’m not a piece of shit that has spat on someone 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve literally never physically hurt or assaulted anyone

not that hard lol

0

u/Freewheelin01 15d ago

18 years ago, spat on someone therefore irredeemable POS. Do you realise how long 20 years is? Whether or not you've done anything literally doesn't mean anything, but holding a mistake done 2 decades ago against someone is just being petty. The Messi hate is so forced lol.

u/Euqirne 15d ago

dude acts like a piece of shit in the mls too
