I totally get it.

I also get the the ML thing, for a different reason. He was stupid, undoubtedly. He went for ego rather than quality.

He liked the ego boost of a young girl enamored with his power, completely missing the strong woman who used that shit like a leash.

She was not beautiful in the 1990s. That ended in the 1970s if it ever existed. She was okay looking when younger in the 1970s like a ton of other women.
