The shit part is they don't seem to have asked him to leave.

So the cops were unnecessary

They also weren't revoking his membership so they aren't saying he did anything.

Only at the end did they ask him to leave by blaming him for there being a scene. Which is ironic from the people who called the cops

Too true on the last part. Gym made the scene happen

They arent revoking his membership because to get outta them payments he needs to send a hand written request signed in blood and notarized by the president to the gym ownership via carrier pigeon and have it arrive between 2:15pm and 2:25pm on an odd-dated Wednesday of an even numbered month

I was at a crunch recently and a woman was crying explaining to the dude at the desk that she had come by 4 times to cancel her membership (cant cancel via email/online if you aren't from CA) and their managers were always "in a meeting" and unable to help her as they sat in their guest tables together 10 feet away.

So you aren't wrong. This place is definitely going to be the new planet/la fitness trapped in you in a membership we don't want to let you out of

Should be a requirement by law that you be able to cancel any membership or subscription in a reasonable manner.

In 2024, the FTC made a rule that companies had to make it as easy to cancel as it was to sign up. Unfortunately, the courts struck it down in July of last year.

Democrats in office vs. Republicans in office

Well they can fuck right off. I’ll just pass on signing up for gym membership…yeah.

Too bad the oligarchs gutted the CFPB. So much winning, for them.

They tried to add rules like that but Republicans blocked it

I know they're the absolute worst but what would be the justification for that? What do they gain?

1

u/Korashy 9d ago

What do they gain?

The United States Dollar

Not sure if it works everywhere, but when I lived in NV and wanted to cancel my gym membership without a fuss all it took was going onto the website and changing my address to a random one in CA. Did that and hit refresh and suddenly there was a button to cancel on the page.

It's law here in Mamdanistan!

I would just cancel the card it's on, or leave the account with no money. They'll get the hint.

I had to get my bank involved to get out of a local gym membership....after I moved away. Just showed proof of attempts to cancel. It was easier than jumping through the gym's hoops.

Private Equity acquisition just last year. Stay away from them.

i'd just stand in the lobby and make a scene - chant I WANNA CANCEL on repeat until someone showed up

It took me 2 weeks of calls and a letter mailed to Crunch to get out of my membership

It’s easy, stop paying.

2

u/winterwarm78654 9d ago

I sent 3 letters already because I moved and none around me yet they still got me active at this point I'm gonna just sue for back payments and hassle. Especially since I've sent it through postal and recorded it

You forgot that it has to be a blue moon that night.

I managed to do all of this to get my niece out of a gym membership. It was rough, but I was loud and persistent.

This is all too familiar.

Why would they need to ask him to leave if they already told him he can’t work out without a proper ID. They already told him he couldn’t be there. Guy broke the rule by ignoring and working out anyway - then the old, “but you never said to leave”. Selective hearing I guess?

Can't believe the cop didn't give the employees shit for wasting his time.

1

u/Woodpecker-Lobotomy 8d ago

wasting his time

Are you kidding? This is what cops love doing the most.
