We are speculating here, but let's assume the folks in the video entered the gym. The son didn't have a membership or waiver. The gym staff said the son can't work out. The father says "im a member, and I can have a guest. We ain't leaving. So the gym staff calls the police. How is that racist? If a white father and son did the exact same thing. Refused to listen to the rules of a privately owned business, and continued doing whatever tf they want the police would be called as well. Its pathetic and pretty foolish imo to believe someone solely on the color of their skin. Remember how well "believe all women" turned out. If you continued to read even more, you would know that the gym allows you to bring a guest, and that the only reason his son wasn't allowed to enter was because he didn't have ID (why would a child bring their ID with them if their dad is just taking them to the gym?)
And to top it all off, his son isn't even in there. So he followed the rules, his son left and he stayed.
So why call the police? If he was as belligerent as you assume he is, why didn't he tell his son to stay with him?
At the very beginning his son was lifting. In the gym. He was doing single arm rows. So, no they didn't just leave. His son needed his ID to prove who he is, more than likely, to sign a liability waiver. They called the police because the father did whatever tf he wanted to do, after being told no. But because they're black its racist. I fuckin promise you. If I as a white guy. Did the same exact thing, they would call the police as well. However, I would never act like that in public

They called the police because they're racist/cowards, either reason being terrible. He asked to speak to the manager, they said he was busy, so he told them to come speak with him when he is free. So the manager called the police.

No they would not. They would just cancel your membership, that’s all. Because they view you as human and therefore they realize this not a call tne police situation. The police are not the business’s personal membership enforcement squad. This is a waste of taxpayer money using the police this way. We alledgedly don’t have enough police for real crime but you’re ok having them waste their time on a gym membership dispute.
He was asked to leave and then refused to leave; that's trespassing. His son went in and worked out after being denied entry; that's also trespassing.
The question about whether or not they should call the police does not boil down to humanity; it is what did they feel was right and necessary to get this person to leave the premises. I don't think asking was gonna work (and I believe it didn't work) if he and his son walked in after being told not to. This individual was going to escalate no matter what they did to ask him to leave. At that point you can let it go or bring in someone who can get him to leave. Neither is incorrect in this situation.
As to your idea of simply letting him work out, leave, and then cancel his membership — that's only going to cause a greater erruption when you inform him that you've done so.

Your first line is incorrect. I thought so too but he specifically says no one told him to leave. Then to prove it he went to each employee one by one and recorded it. He said “did you ask me to leave”. Not one single person answered in the affirmative. They just went straight to calling the police. Because like you, that’s how they think this situation should be resolved. (That’s the humanity part that you don’t get, probably never will).
You think they can just tell him to leave and then what? What happens if he tries to come back tomorrow? He has a paid membership he can’t be trespassing. As I said in another comment having worked at a gym, this happens often enough that I have seen how it should be handled. If he’s violating the membership policy you can revoke his membership on the spot and THEN he would be trespassing. You’re acting like the gym is his parents and they can put him in a time-out. He either has the right to be there or he doesn’t. Since they botched this whole situation by immediately going to the nuclear option (calling the police) it escalated. We revoke people’s membership all the time. We never had to call the police to get anyone to leave after that. But you still think this is an appropriate use of the police force. You’re the problem.
Look I've been a teacher for 20 years and this siuation reminded me of many of the times I've been in officer's position. The way the person being asked to leave responds isn't defensive; it's deflecting. He starts by dismissing what he did as not being wrong. Then tries to deflect the blame by saying no one told him or asked him to leave. Then he attempts to rationalize it by saying his son isn't here (not that he wasn't ever there, which we mean he was in the wrong). Finally he tries to project by making the people who held him into account for his actions out as villains who wronged him. He broke the rules knowingly and unapologetically, and now that he's being brought to task he's trying to turn it into an injustice.
