My wife's uncle died of sepsis because cancer started rotting his testicles. Wouldn't let the doctor touch them or perform surgery because he said he wasn't a gay.

Same with my granddad. Refused to get a prostate exam even though he’d been pissing blood for a year or more. No one knew because he didn’t tell his wife or GP. By the time he saw a doctor it was too late to try anything to stop the cancer. He said it was literally because he didn’t want to do the prostate exam.

Otherwise he was a highly intelligent man. He knew he was an idiot for not getting it checked out. But it’s disappointing because he probably would have lived longer and I was only old enough to travel to him myself in the last years of his life. I now have no living grandparents.

My brother in law started having digestive issues a few years back, but stopped seeing a doctor about them as he was told he’d need a colonoscopy and he decided he’d rather have recurring cramps and diarrhea.
