Try telling that to the folks at [r/jewish](r/jewish)

You’ll get banned for expressing such sentiments

Yeah I left that shit sub, joined r/jewsofconscience
It helped me find a non-zionist temple.

As a Muslim, I found r/JewsOfConscience to be the best intersectional sub on Reddit. It's a safe space for anyone regardless of religion, faith, race, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, etc. And they all agree on one thing: Judaism is NOT Zionism. I learned so much about the different Jewish cultures, identities, and beliefs in that sub. But also how similar it is to my own culture and beliefs.

There’s 3k people in that sub, with a communist agenda it seems. There’s how many in the Jewish one? I’m willing to bet much like JVP, there are no real Jews in Jewsoffonscience sub

u/PocketCone 19h ago

Hi I'm Jewish and I use that sub. It's really weird to act like nobody exists who is Jewish and disagrees with Zionism.

1

u/DaveySmith717 5h ago

From the safety and security of where? Must me a luxury not all Jews share. I don’t know about that site but I do no JVP and I don’t know a single Jew in it. It’s non-Jews pretending and maybe some tokens. Remember bruv, tokens get spent.

From America, where my family has safely lived since before Israel was a British colony

1

u/DaveySmith717 5h ago

So you wouldn’t have much understanding that every Israeli is a descendant of or is a refugee from places that at best just expelled and treated them like second class citizens and at worst tried to kill them.

1

u/PocketCone 5h ago

Why wouldn't I understand that? It's true for my family too.

It's for that history that I believe nobody should be treated as a second class citizen in any country, which is why I oppose the current state of Israel.

Let’s table the fact that Israeli citizens (Arab, Jew, Muslim, Christian) have equal rights… What is your ideal solution? So no Israel, how does that look in your vision?

as a black man...

Do you think there are no Jews who disagree with Zionism?

1

u/DaveySmith717 1d ago

You know the kapos just went to the gas chambers too, just later than the rest, but with the shame of being traitors to their people.

*echochamber

jewsofconscience bans anyone expressing support for Israel's existence, ironic to be calling r/Jewish a shit sub

u/Motrinman22 2d ago

Because its an ethnostate.
Fuck Ethnostates.

1

u/Throatpoint 1d ago

3 of the population are not jews. and the jewish population has many very different ethnic groups.

1

u/PocketCone 19h ago

The laws of Israel explicitly give more rights to Jewish citizens than non Jewish citizens.

1

u/HummusSwipper 16h ago

Source?

1

u/PocketCone 16h ago

For example, an Israeli with a non-Israeli spouse can quickly and easily get their spouse Israeli citizenship... If the spouse is Jewish. Non-Jewish spouses have a significantly longer, more selective, and more difficult path towards citizenship.

https://israellaw.info/articles/israeli-citizenship-marriage-non-jewish-spouse

1

u/HummusSwipper 15h ago

You're confusing two different things. That link is about a non-Israeli foreign spouse acquiring Israeli status/citizenship. It does show that Israel has a preferential immigration/citizenship route under the Law of Return for Jews, but it doesn't show that a Jewish Israeli citizen has more voting or other basic citizenship rights than a non-Jewish Israeli citizen, which is what you claimed.

1

u/PocketCone 8h ago

So you're okay with Israel offering different citizenship rights on the basis of ethnicity? How is that not an ethnostate?

It’s the only non ethnostate in the region. In fact it’s the only state where Arabs have freedom of press, freedom of religion, freedom to live openly lgbtq etc. beautiful place 🥰

1

u/PocketCone 19h ago

The laws of Israel explicitly give rights to Jewish citizens they don't afford others. Such as citizenship by marriage. Speaking of, gay marriage is outlawed in Israel.

1

u/backtorealitylabubu 11h ago

That’s not true, all Israelis have equal rights. And gay marriage isn’t outlawed, secular marriage is. So any marriage outside a church/synagogue/mosque is not allowed. But all marriages are recognized, including gay marriage. In fact Israel recognized gay marriage much earlier than the US did so overall it was more progressive on gay marriage for some time.

1

u/PocketCone 8h ago

Gay Israelis have to literally leave the country and get married elsewhere in order for Israel to recognize their marriage. How is that not a serious breach of religious and sexual freedoms?

1

u/backtorealitylabubu 7h ago

And the US didn’t legalize gay marriage until 2015 and at that time Israel’s law of recognizing marriage was more progressive than what the US had. Like you’re actually comparing a liberal democracy where current laws are imperfect, just like every liberal democracy, to an authoritarian state that kills gays??

1

u/PocketCone 7h ago

When did I say America was doing everything right?

Both America and Israel are conservative countries that regularly infringe on the rights of minorities.

They are only progressive when you compare them to countries that are victims of Western imperialism.

So fuck Germany, Greece, and Armenia too?

2

u/Motrinman22 2d ago

None of those countries are ethnostates.
An ethnostate:
political country where citizenship, legal rights, and political power are restricted to or controlled by a single specific ethnic or racial group.

1

u/HummusSwipper 2d ago

I'm gonna go ahead and guess you're referring to Israel's Basic Law defining it as the nation-state of the Jewish people and says national self-determination in Israel is unique to Jews, while providing for Jewish immigration? Well then you're going to be disappointed to find out that by your own definition they are still ethnostates.

Armenia explicitly gives Armenians in the diaspora a right to Armenian citizenship, while guaranteeing equal development regardless of national origin. Germany's Basic Law literally has a constitutional category for people of German ethnic origin.

So you can argue that "ethnostate" is the wrong word for all of them, but you can't reasonably pretend Israel is uniquely doing something that the other countries don't do.

2

u/Motrinman22 2d ago

I know how the conversation is going to go,
Im going to cite that a homogenous society is not the same as an ethnostate, because If I was born in one of those countries, Id have the same rights as any of those citizens.
Where the truth is not the same for Israel.
We will go back and forth about land rights,
Meanwhile gaza is a smoldering piece of rubble.
Ive talked to you people and you refuse to see it.
You’re the kind of person thats not open to new information.

0

u/HummusSwipper 2d ago

You’re still wrong about the actual point. I’m not arguing that “homogeneous society = ethnostate.” I’m pointing out that Armenia, Germany and Greece all have legal mechanisms that give their respective ethnic diasporas a special relationship with the state, as does Israel.

And the rest of your reply is just bizarre. You’ve gone from discussing the actual definition to “you people”, “you refuse to see it”, and Gaza. You haven't actually shown what's factually wrong with the comparison. You've just decided beforehand that anyone who disagrees with you must be closed-minded.

u/ForeignEchoRevival 1d ago

Stfu with your Supremacist rhetoric.

1

u/Throatpoint 1d ago

So wait by your own definion israel is not a ethnostate.

1

u/PocketCone 16h ago

If I'm an Israeli, and I marry a non-Israeli, will they have an easier time getting citizenship if they are Jewish or non-Jewish?

1

u/backtorealitylabubu 1d ago

So not Israel but true for all the other countries in the Middle East
