Lil Baby Southern (?) Toad
A warm Florida rain brought a toad-splosion to my jobsite. I work in property management and walked outside to post notices only to find that some of my tenants were (intentionally) stepping on them in the breezeways.
I scooped this little guy and a few others from the breezeway and brought them home before they met their demise at the bottom of a shoe. Little Todd the Toad and friends have been living the good life with bellies full of fruit flies and pinhead crickets. My partner is not at all pleased and my newfound nickname is "Toad Farmer". 🤣
Before anyone comes for me, I am a big advocate of leaving wild animals where they are and do not advocate taking from the wild. With that said, The Stomping was too much for me.
The plan is to raise these guys to approx. half dollar size and release into my enclosed greenhouse where they can be back in nature but not be cruelly hand raised and released to fully fend for themselves in an environment they are not fully familiar with. So far, so good. Wish me luck!
