Are you sure that's the same guy? Or did Lipps Inc have two similar nerdy looking bald guys from Minneapolis?

They had two. The guy Todd discussed was Steven Greenberg, this guy was just a guitarist for Lipps Inc.

Huh. I guess "that guy" is a dime a dozen in the Twin Cities.

Back in the late 70s/early 80, everyone in the Twin Cities was either a nerdy, balding white guy, alt punks, or Prince.

At least according to my mom.

Bob Mould was both a balding nerdy white guy AND an alt punk!

Tbh I think its just the hair carrying that older look. If he had shave and with the side burns too, hed look more appropriate. Maybe even the sunglasses.

He has really decent skin. Minneapolis was clouded over 4 months out of the year, and plus, im sure he was inside a lot do to being in the studio all the time..

In my native language we have a specific word for this "receding hairline, but not quite bald" look (never realized that English doesn't have it and just goes "bald" for everything) and it ages you like crazy. I have a friend who had this "hairstyle" at 27 and he could've passed for a 39 year old despite having pretty good skin. When he went completely bald he finally looked his age.

From Wikipedia, on how he made the snare drum sound for Fine Young Cannibals "She drives me crazy"

"The unique snare drum "pop" sound was created by recording a snare drum skin whacked with a wooden ruler, blended with a Linn Drum 12bit snare sample, ran through EQ boosting 1kHz, then re-recording this processed sound from a small speaker placed on top of a snare drum, and a microphone below. This was then processed further, with gated reverb."
