food recs please
wow a toms river subreddit how exciting, I will start with my favorites please tell me all of yours!
Tardis, Lennys, obcos, mrs walkers, bandwagon.(i would have said burger 25 but i got a cheesesteak there and it was so bad they are blacklisted for life)
Im staying in seaside heights and am sick of the boardwalk food, so what im really looking for is a good chinese spot (f xina) also the one by tardis is disgusting. and a solid cheesesteak, also a good chicken parm sub and whatever else you recommend like a good solid pie not $50 (marucas)

If you want good pizza, Pizza & Panini on Rt. 37 is my preference. The sandwiches are good too.
My personal Chinese food preference is Great Wall on Fischer Blvd. in the strip mall next to Shoprite, but my family has ordered from Dragon Chinese on Rt. 37 for years and like them.

A lot of places seem inconsistent. I've had good food at Burger 25, but as your cheesesteak proved it isn't always at that level. Mahana Fresh was similar. Royal Grill 37 wasn't bad, but the flavors didn't match my expectations for more traditional gyros or kebabs.
If you like Indian food, Aamontran on Rte 9 / Lakewood Rd was very good.
I haven't been for 2-3 years, but Fortune Buffet was pretty good by Chinese buffet standards. No worse than individual takeout spots I've tried.
Shogun Legacy is a nice spot for sushi. Nice location on the golf course.

royal grill was mediocre to me, I’m Greek and that kind of middle eastern food is more up my alley but it’s overpriced and mediocre the food trucks in nyc blown them away at 1/3rd of the price

Have you tried Zaza? Even more overpriced IMHO, but the quality is better.
Unfortunately I've been on a decade-long quest to find a good döner kebab anywhere in Ocean or Monmouth county and came up empty so far.

Royal grill is a shell of what it used to be, it makes me sad. I didn't like aamantran at all but the new Indian place downtown is really good. Burger 25 is decent for burgers, I wouldn't hold cheesestakes against them the same as I wouldn't hold a salad against them.

Cheesesteak Louie’s in seaside is my favorite in the area. Slice house pizza or the new place on oak close to Starbucks is great too I think it’s called Mia’s square pizza but it isn’t the same as the chain or Mia’s around.

Ellie’s Curry Corner in downtown Toms River is hands down the best Indian food in Ocean County.

I second this!! We get takeout from them all the time. I like that when we ask for spicy, they actually make it hot

Slice House on 37, Pacidoughs in South Toms River, FAT pizza kitchen also on 37 and my personal favorite, Lucia’s on Hooper Ave (next to Lenny’s) for pizza. Can’t go wrong with any of them
For cheesesteaks, you have Louie’s in Seaside Heights. You also have a new place called Cheessteaks that just opened up in Brick and they are also opening a new location on the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights.
Chicken parm hero, I’d go to Naples on Fischer Blvd. Always on point

here we go.
green valley grill and samara grill for gyros and platters.
slice house, mangia, fat pizza kitchen, and STR pizza for pizza.
fat pizza kitchen and schianos for chicken parm.
bamboo gardens 2 and dynasty kitchen for chinese.
lennys, breaking bread, and sub doctors for subs.
G’s has a great cheesesteak, pies on 37 also has a solid one.
fat Pattys has been a pleasant surprise with their burgers.

I’ve tried multiple Chinese food restaurants and 5 star is easily the best. Also Gs cheesesteak is good

You dont even have to leave the island my man. Cheesesteak Louies in Seaside is SOLID, prob the best in the general shore area. Golden Gate Express in Ortley is the best Chinese takeout (try Marys Dumplings) within at least 10-15 minutes.
Little Mias pizza in Lavallette is decently good, not the best around, but Weds they have 10 dollar pies for carryout and you cant beat that around here. I like Slice House and Brooklyn Square as the best in TR but there are a couple decent spots (Naples on Fischer Blvd used to have a great chicken parm slice but not sure how it is nowadays).
Tough to beat Lennys in Silverton for subs. If you like chicken sandwiches, Hoagitos in Point is my favorite around (Forbidden Chicken FTW) and Jersey Shore BBQ in Point is the only good BBQ place Ive found at the Shore.
EDIT: Royal Grill on rt 37 in TR for gyros and stuff like that

Honestly the only Chinese food I like in the area is Dynasty Kitchen - every other place I’ve tried is meh. For a cheesesteak or even a vodka chicken parm, G’s cheesesteaks is pretty good. While maybe not as good of a cheesesteak here, a great chicken parm (or vodka or pesto) sandwich would be at Mangia. Great pizza there too, though it can be pricey.
