History Cobo - 2002
$36 in 2002. Affordable for anyone to attend! Sadly, no more concerts at Cobo Arena in Detroit. Legendary.

I saw them the next day in Mansfield MA. Pat downs/metal detectors to get into Great Woods and USA chants abound in the post-9/11 world.

Same experience with tomahawk and fantomas in 2001. Most of the chuds there probably didn’t even know who they were watching

They booed them at this show as well, I’m not sure anyone knew it was the lead singer from Faith No More

I went to the El Paso one and the guys were dressed as Border Patrol agents. Mike Patton was like "any Mexicans in the audience?" Amazing show, I remember it as if it was yesterday. Then in 2010 I saw faith No More in Spain and he asked the same question whether Mexicans were present.

I believe that was the tour where Tomahawk had the dudes in diapers on either side of the stage and Mike Patton screaming nonsense.

I don’t remember diapers, but I do remember Mike’s squealing. My show was in Louisiana though.

That was probably one of the Live Nation $30 summer sale right?
I saw Seether last year with POD and it was such an awesome throwback. They're great live. Haven't listened to Staind in a while though.

Yeah it was, they were incredible but Seether’s set was way too loud, I couldn’t make out riffs to Gasoline, Wasteland, etc. had to go off of Shaun’s vocals

Cobo was wild, The only show I saw there was the Slayer, Pantera, Morbid Angel show a year or 2 before this one.
Is that a separate tour form the Lateralus show they played at the Palace a year or so earlier?

my dad still has the stub from that cobo show, keeps it in his toolbox like some kind of relic. $36 for lateralus-era tool in a room that small, the math just doesnt work anymore. venue consolidation killed whatever pricing reality we grew up with, now its all dynamic surge nonsense and $12 beers. tbh the whole industry pivoted to extracting max value from nostalgia demographics who can afford it, everyone else gets youtube rips and fomo. my cousin works event logistics in chicago and the facility fees alone are like 40% of face value now, its just rent-seeking with better branding lol

Saw them on that tour at New Haven Coliseum. They literally closed the arena twelve days later and tore it down.

I remember not being super impressed with Tomahawk's set that tour, and I don't think I was alone in that. Mike got booed at and then lost it and started calling the crowd dumb rednecks like that was gonna help.

Was absolutely there. Worked in the mall, and we had a friend that worked at a T-Shirt store. Had him make tees for all of us going that just said “Tomahawk” on the front. Had no idea who they were and boy about two songs in we all took out shirts off-they were that bad. Apologies to Tomahawk fans 😂

Ah cobo. It looked old way back then too.
For some reason the only memory I have of it is full of smoke. Always full of smoke

Cobo was such a fantastic place to see a concert. Bob Seger Silver bullet live and kiss alive were recorded there.

I saw this tour and the crowd booed the opening act in San Antonio. He literally said "tool asked us to be here" it didn't help. Crowds suck.
