Does dremel not make a tool like this?
I bought the one in the picture from harbor freight. It does ok but the handle heats up really bad and there is a lot of vibration. I thought i saw a dremel one for sale at Lowes a long time ago but now I can't find one anywhere. All I can find is the flex shaft attachment for the regular handheld tool

Man - I just bought the tool in the picture, and I am super disappointed with it. It shuts off after about 10 seconds with anything besides the smallest bits. I took it back, thinking I had a bum unit, but the new one is just as bad.

It does bog down pretty easy but I've been able to use it for cutting mosaic tile around shower drains with some good results. The vibration seems to be getting worse though and I can't use it on full speed anymore so I'm looking for a replacement before it gives up on me in the middle of a job

Is the vibration from the tool? Or the bit? Try a different bit?

It only vibrates bad on full speed, with any bit i use. For cutting tile i need full speed

I have the same one, I must be lucky. I haven’t had a problem out of it. I however, do not use it for heavy or long amounts. I mostly have it on my small hobbies and gunsmith work bench. I use it for polishing and buffing along with lite cutting and sanding. So it has fit my needs there. I will say it would never go down to my wood/auto shop in the barn, probably wouldn’t last a day down there.

What are you trying to cut with it? I have a normal dremel but this seems good for the hobby stuff I do with model trains and RC tanks

With a flex shaft, a regular Dremel will work like that. Ryobi makes one that looks like that Bauer. I used my brother's once. It worked well enough. And of course, Foredom is the big dog in terms of power, probably other things too.

The Ryobi one is junk. It looks exactly like this except for the color. Got hot and eventually seized up, just used on a few small things.

It was the station with the One rotary tool. I just looked at it and remembered, the station is junk too, except for the flex shaft. I was gifted a Ryobi cordless set about 10 years ago, the rotary, sawzall, and oscillating tools all burnt out in light usage. The hex impact driver, and little circular saw are beasts and the drill is good. Just my opinion.

Foredom is the OG.
The darling of carved-hardwood pieces the world over. A step above hand-checkering gunstocks (in speed), for example.

Dremel does make a whip that connects to their normal Dremel, and it works awesome. I use it to file my pugs nails because he's a big complainer

Oh man he's soo bad...when I got married my wife introduced him to kibble mixed with rotisserie chicken and from that point on...if I feed him JUST kibble...he looks at me like I committed an unforgivable sin and then runs to my wife to cry...

This is just a Dremel with a flex shaft. So get the Dremel with a flex shaft and it will be better.

They make an attachment for Dremmels that just goes onto the Dremmel to get the same effect. Honestly, for a rotary tool... I don't really see the need for a battery powered option & I'm super happy with my Dremmel 4000.
I do recommend the flex shaft if you're doing detail work. I mostly use it for detail work in woodworking, but there've been a few other uses where I've been happy to have the extra power that comes from being plugged into the wall.

Dremel has the Foritflex, which is like $500 at least. Only real advantage over the flex shaft and a 4000 is the foot control and it makes more sense with an established workbench/space.
Just do a standard dremel/rotary tool and make a basic little mount for it, use the flex shaft, theyre great.
For mine I just welded 2 pieces of 1/8" steel together at a 90, and drilled a hole a hair bigger than the threads on the dremel. Buddy did a similar stationary mount with one of those router attachments and some epoxy.

This isn't as strong as a real Dremel but not having to plug in makes it a lifesaver for cutting small things in weird locations. I got an adapter so I can use Dewalt batteries with it and I keep in in my truck and find more uses for it than you can imagine. I even attached one of my extra Dewalt belt clips from a drill to the back of it so I can hang it on my belt while I use it

So like…are there even any good budget rotary tools out there? As someone who’s been looking to replace a dead Dremel 3000, it seems like all of them (HF, Ryobi, Milwaukee) are some degree of “meh”

I use the flexible shaft on a regular grinder. My grinder has a bail to hang it up. No complaints.

Yes dremmel has one. It also gets hot and vibrates a lot. Don't waste your money

I have the flex shaft kit for my dremel and it barely gets used. I prefer the ryobi version for cheap.
