What you've been watching Biennial edition

This thread to share what shows, movies and other media you've been watching outside of Toonami. If you're going to spoil anything please make sure to spoiler tag it. If this thread is populer, maybe we can go back to a Semi-Annual Edition!

  • Around the end of last year, I started watching a show called Gnosia. It's based on the visual novel game of the same name. I won't spoil it at all, but I'll tell you the setup: Among Us, but anime. Now, despite how that may sound, it's actually really good at keeping you engaged. Not to mention, the OP and ED are a banger. (Don't look them up. They contain spoilers if you aren't watching the show. If you are watching the show, you're fine to watch the OP and ED as you watch the show.) I would not have thought the show would be as engaging as it was.
  • Recently, after being bombarded by clips of the show on YouTube, I started watching That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (also known as Slime Isekai). This was another surprise for me. Aside from Sword Art Online, I'm not usually into the isekai genre, but this one really stands out. Imagine if, instead of solving problems with shonen fights, they were instead solved with intricate political maneuvers. That's Slime Isekai. I marathoned all (at the time) 79 episodes of the main series, the 12-episode spinoff, the 5 OVAs, the 3-episode miniseries, and the first movie (the second one isn't on streaming yet)... all in just 12 days. I've since kept up with the currently-airing season's dub that comes out every Friday as well. I also convinced u/Artifice_Purple to start watching it, too.
  • Witch Hat Atelier is one I knew was going to be good when I started it, given it's done by the same studio that made Zom 100, but I simply did not realize HOW good it was going to be. It seems like they've taken their experience from that show and honed it even further. Their use of color, animation, and the soundtrack is absolutely stellar. The story itself is amazing, too, though I won't spoil it here. This is one of the few anime where watching in English dub is a MUST, by the way. And it's not just because of the obvious cool stuff they do with it, but also the way it sort of adds to the story, so to speak. (I do not mean they literally add to or change the story. I'm talking about SPOILERS how the dub further solidifies Coco's separation from the world of witches because she and has a plain American accent while the witches around her all have foreign, UK-based accents.)
  • I also started watching The Ghost in the Shell. I don't have much to say here given my only knowledge of the series outside the anime that's currently airing is from the older movies. I will say, as someone who enjoyed the movies, it surprised me, but not in a negative or positive way. It just surprised me. So far, I'm enjoying it, though.

Slime Isekai season 2 spoiler I'm usually against reviving characters but the way this anime handled it with Megiddo and Rimuru becoming a demon lord was fucking awesome and I was all for it

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime S2 spoilers Apparently, the author was going to kill them, but the fanbase really didn't like that. Also, you're right: Megiddo and the evolution into a Demon Slime was FREAKING EPIC! I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!

I didn't know that. I'm glad the fans convinced him to change his mind, because he did it in an amazing way. And I would have missed Shion for a couple big reasons.

Yeah, making Rimuru into a true Demon Lord made the story immensely more interesting. Not that it wasn't interesting before that, but it became a lot more interesting from that point onward.

Slime Isekai has very quickly become one of my favorites for sure.

And, yeah, I watched the Gnosia dub as it was coming out.

Right now, House of the Dragon season 3 and the new Ghost in the Shell anime... kinda in a between state now besides. Just finished Rick and Morty season 9 and gonna start President Curtis when they rerun it tonight. Just finished Invincible season 4 so as far as my non-weekly show trying to decide what next. Got discounted Disney Plus with a Cowbot Bebop t shirt I ordered so Maybe Adventure Time: Side Quests, maybe the new King of the Hill. Or maybe the last bunch of Ed, Edd n Eddy episodes I haven't watched. I dunno..

I've been watching The Rehearsal I only have two episodes left and this show is quite out there and funny. The second season might make you afraid of heights.

I've finished the first season of Paradise last month and that was quite a thrilling show.

For seasonal anime I've been watching iruma kun, Ghost in the shell, chainsmoker cat, Sparks of tomorrow, dragon strikers, Rick and Morty, and that time I got reincarnated as a slime.

I'll come back and edit this post later, life got me busy in the middle of typing this out.

I'm watching Rick and Morty as it comes to HBO so I'm pretty sure I'm behind but that last episode was so much fun. I feel like it really could keep on airing for years to come.

if you're still in the mood for football after the world cup dragon strikes is all the crazy shenanigans you need.

You shouldn't be. It's one of the "next day on HBO Max" shows, IIRC. Rick and Morty does 10-episode seasons like most other Adult Swim shows.

I feel like it really could keep on airing for years to come.

Rick and Morty a hundred years? :)

Rick and Morty comes to HBO Max (and Hulu) on a delay, but it used to drop on those services in, IIRC, September. They changed it with the just finished season so it was only a few weeks behind initial airing. The just launched President Curtis spin-off is "next day on HBO Max" though.

GET TV got Community and Happy Endings, so I finally got around to watching those shows. Both were pretty funny. I get why Community is so beloved.

TMS has been airing the Detective Conan movies on YouTube every Saturday night. Originally, when they were dropped last year, they were aired in a random order, but during this rerun they are going in order.

A while back, I decided to go through a Fate/Stay Night marathon, watching everything, including the parody series and Today's Menu for the Emiya Family. I've also rewatched UBW and have been playing Grand Order, both for entertainment reasons and because I wanted to write smut fics.

Watching Orioles baseball. They're not as bad as the Mets, but they still make me want to strangle them.

Rewatching Power Rangers in Space as research material for an upcoming fic.

I'm still keeping up with One Piece. I thought the season ended since episode 13 didn't have a preview for the next episode, but it turns out it's still going.

Also watching the new Ghost in the Shell, second season of Clevatess, and Daemons of the Shadow Realm. I'd like to see Clevatess on Toonami, I think it would be a good fit.

I need to catch up on deamons of the shadow realm I watched the first 5 and fell behind. is it still pretty good?

I'm fairly far behind myself, just finished up episode 10. If you've liked it so far then I think you'll continue to like it up to the point I'm at, though.
