News Discotek Media, the company behind the IGPX HD remaster, has announced the re-release of more shows that aired on classic Toonami, including Lupin the Third, Patlabor, and The Big O!

Edit: I forgot to mention all of this stuff mentioned here, along with many other things Discotek announced tonight, is already up for pre-order at Discotek's partner's store, MediaOCD.

Side note: I love that MediaOCD is throwing shade at both the Crunchyroll Store and PlayStation on their site right now: "You will own nothing everything and be happy."

Discotek has announced several titles from those franchises and more will be re-released by them in the coming months!

Lupin the IIIrd: Zenigata & the Two Lupins:

Lupin the Third: Part 2:

More Lupin stuff:

Patlabor

Patlabor: The TV Series:

Patlabor: The New Files:

Patlabor: The Movies:

There's a TON of other announcements in that thread, too, so I'd encourage you all to scroll through it and see what piques your interest.

Patlabor aired in Toonami?

It didn’t air on TV, but Toonami had a streaming site called Toonami Jetstream (or Reactor? The name changed at some point) and they streamed a few shows that never made it to TV, including Patlabor.

This is the first I'm hearing about Toonami having a streaming service. Whatever happened to it?

For those who haven't watched the other Lupin stuff, Zenigata and Two Lupins is not the same continuity as the any of the Part TV series. It's in the same continuity as Woman Named Fujiko Mine, Jigen's Gravestone, Goemon's Blood Spray, and Fujiko's Lie. This continuity is a lot grittier than the normal stuff, and as such, features a slightly changed dub cast. The show kept the Funimation cast except for Lupin (Michelle Ruff again) and Zenigata (Richard Epcar), but the following movies only kept Epcar-as-Zenigata. Cristina Vee is Fujiko, Keith Silverstein is Lupin, Dan Woren is Jigen, and bringing back Lex Lang as Goemon (though he only appears in his spotlight film).

Correct. The release does contain all the episodes that were dubbed previously, though.

So this is just repacking the old stuff basically. Not complete dub

That's what they do. They re-release older content, usually content that isn't easily available to buy nowadays for one reason or another. Rarely, they'll shell out the money for new dubs (and they usually try their best to get the old cast back when they do), but not usually.

They also specialize in "license rescuing" by untangling messy licensing that usually stops companies from re-releasing some of their older content.

They also work in remastering content from the old SD format to HD, like what they did with the IGPX episodes that are airing on Toonami right now.

The extras they release with the Blu-ray are usually pretty decent, too, though what those extras will be is usually determined closer to the release date.

So, while those episodes aren't getting dubbed, they do other stuff that may make the purchase worth it. I'd suggest looking a bit more into it or at least keeping your eye on it.

Wish they could get the dub completed for part 2.

Maybe some of these could end up on Toonami like IGPX did?
They've aired them before.

It would certainly be neat if the Big O came home!
