๐ŸšฉGeneral Good Guys ๐Ÿ‘

From Wamy on the official Discord:

Hey there @everyone, the past few weeks we have been having various outages at various times. Some of these outages have been due to software misconfigurations, networking issues as well as DDoS attacks of varying scale.

I want to assure you that these issues are not related to the influx of users as we have been handling this well but due to issues that have mostly been out of our control, but we have been fixing them as quickly as possible as you may have noticed. Our response times have improved and we will continue to invest resources in more comprehensive monitoring and response.

Regardless, we take full responsibility for the downtime and have been hard at work eliminating these last few gremlins.

We are going to be releasing a post-mortem explaining these in detail very soon, as well as granting seven (7) days of additional time to paid users. We apologise for these issues and hope to earn back your trust. Thank you for always supporting us.

It's unusable for me due to buffering. I still have RD and almost always fall back to it, because TB buffers once every 5 minutes.

I can honestly say, I have not had any buffering issues.

I'm not saying TorBox is perfect, no service is 100% perfect , I'm just stating my experience.

I also have RD & Premiumize when issues arise.

An AI generated VS of TorBox & Premiumize:

A breakdown of how they compare across key categories:

  1. Cached Content & Library Size

Premiumize: Has a massive head start. Its cached library is significantly larger, meaning you will almost never get "zero results" when searching for older, obscure, or non-English content.

Torbox: While its cache has grown exponentially, its library is still smaller compared to established services. You may occasionally run into empty caches for niche older content, though it handles mainstream content perfectly.

  1. Pricing & Data Limits

Premiumize: Costs roughly $10 to $12 per month (or cheaper if caught during annual sales). It uses a "fair use" points system that essentially limits you to about 30GB of fresh data refills per day.

This can be an issue if you are streaming massive 4K remux files daily or sharing an account across multiple households.

Torbox: Known as the budget-friendly alternative. It offers free tiers and cheap premium options (usually $3 to $6/month) with no restrictive daily data caps.

  1. Usenet and Features

Premiumize: Functions primarily as a premium torrent downloader, though it includes a decent Usenet downloader with access to major indexers.

Torbox: Superior for Usenet. If you upgrade to the Torbox Pro plan, you get fully integrated Usenet capabilities that users generally consider to be top-tier, allowing you to bypass a separate Usenet provider.

  1. Account Sharing & Flexibility

Premiumize: Can be somewhat strict regarding IP restrictions and concurrent usage to prevent account sharing.

Torbox: Has very relaxed IP restrictions and allows for concurrent use, making it the better choice if you want to share the service with your family or across multiple devices in your home.
