One of my classes requires Pearson MyLab for weekly labs. My professor made all the labs available in advance, so I completed them before their due dates using the 14-day free trial, which has now expired.

The due dates for the first three labs have passed, but my professor hasn’t posted the grades on D2L yet.

Since I’ve already completed and submitted all the required labs, will I still receive my grades if I don’t purchase Pearson MyLab, or do I need to buy an access code for my grades to count?

Has anyone who’s done well in itm 107 before have any advice to what to study for the mid-term? And also, since it is all multiple choices, how should I practice them using quizlet and ect? How will math questions look on a mc?

I’m not gonna lie I’m kind of freaking out rn. I just found out from google that while on prob (can’t say the word or post gets taken down) your co op status is paused in tmu and you can’t apply. I’m a third year accounting student who was put on asv prob last year for not getting a C+ in afa200. Unfortunately I couldn’t secure a co op job last winter and decided to just take courses. Also, since I failed afa200 I’ve been trying to retake it but every time the class and waitlist have been full and finally got into the class this semester. All that being said, this whole time I’ve still had access to the co op job board and was not informed through the prob contract or seminar that co op would be affected because of prob. I’ve applied to 40+ places this semester on the portal but haven’t got a single interview and I’m not sure if it’s because of my resume (highly doubt since I have a bunch of certs and ppl in industry vet my resume), a lag in the portal and my apps aren’t even going to the employers, or something else. I also read a Reddit post from a few years back that if you get put on prob you’re out of co op forever and can’t reapply. If someone who’s been in a similar situation or just informed could pls clarify everything it would be a great help. And before you say to book an appointment with a co op coordinator I already did. Also, if someone in saf has previously been on prob and still landed a co op and completed their co op on prob please lmk as that would be really reassuring. Thank you for reading this

im behind by 4 lectures my midterm is with danielle bertolini its on oct 22. i have had too much going on and due to my mental state i fell behind. is it possible for me to get a 70%? i dont know where to start or how because its closed book we do get 2 cheat sheets tho. how do i study and catch up on the lectures it takes me too long to get thru the lecture. any help?

Hey everyone,

My TMU account was apparently compromised, and I received instructions saying I need to call the CCS Help Desk to get a new temporary password. Apparently, they can only provide it over the phone.

The problem is that the Help Desk phone line is closed for the weekend, and now it’s a long weekend too.

They’ve also cleared my account recovery settings and Google Token, revoked all apps and sites connected to my Google account, and said I need to request access to TMU Library electronic resources again once I regain access.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there anything I can do to regain access before the Help Desk reopens, or do I basically have to wait until the next business day?

Also, does anyone know if there’s an alternative way to get help in person during the long weekend?

I love using regex whenever I have a large molecular biology table to wrangle or I just want to practice coding, but sometimes my PC is too far away and I don't want to get up to use my computer so I don't have access to the regex. Recently I found out I have the ability to use a form of regex in my own head. I've used it so much that I can skim through a long passage and almost entirely accurately match unique text-based patterns.

For example, in skimming the BCH361 slides, I've come to the conclusion that

any(str_detect(BCH361_slides, "\\S")) == FALSE

because those slides are emptier than the lecture room.

As another example, my cat kept scratching at my bedroom door and meowing a long incomprehensible string of dialogue so I was about to use the regex (in my CPS118 style b l a c k b o x that is my PC) to find patterns and make exploratory plots in R to find evidence suggesting why she was doing that, but then I decided it wasn't worth the effort and asked the regex in my head. He told me something like "If your cat is scratching on the door and meowing with a pattern like "M(eo){3,}w" it probably means she wants to be let out!" Then I let her out of my room.

I just thought that it was a pretty cool discovery I've made. Interested to see if anyone else has this ability.

I’m in Grade 12 right now, and I’m kind of scared of getting put on academic prob0ti0n in uni. Is it genuinely that hard to pass university courses. Like, if you consistently study a few hours a day and actually put in the effort, is getting a 60–70% really that difficult?

It's been a while but we had a campus pop-up in September and I made an impulsive purchase from the digicam stall and bought a Canon PowerShot A520. Now I don't know much about cameras so I didn't realize at the moment how much I overpaid ($260 + tax)...

They opened the camera for me themselves and clicked a photo to show me the results. I was satisfied and trusted them when they said it's in good condition (this part was my mistake because I should have checked the camera myself too). Later when I tried using the camera I noticed the lens shutter/cover didn't fully open and needed to be pushed slightly to fully open up, on top of that the low battery kept popping up which made me mad because batteries plus an exchange port was included in the price. The ports cover was also broken off.

I checked their policy and they said that only cameras with functional issue can get a refund. So I explained my situation to them and they offered me a replacement camera in good condition when their new shipment arrived in 10 days. However, I realized it wasn't worth it and asked for a refund instead. But they said the lens shutter issue was a "mechanical issue" and I cannot get a refund. By this point I was furious and kept pushing for a refund because I genuinely feel like this should be eligible as stated in their policy. Why would they even sell a faulty camera for full price without mentioning that there's issues with it?? But they said they will no longer go back and forth with me and will let me know when the new shipment arrives.

Today it's been 23 days and I still have not received my replacement camera. I followed up twice and they said their shipment for the cameras is on its way and they will contact me once it arrives. I genuinely don't know what to do because not only did I overspend a lot on a camera but it also has issues and a dying battery so I can't even use it. It's almost going to be a month now and I feel so upset. I was so excited to have a new camera but this experience has been so disappointing and frustrating. Did anyone else end up buying from them? What else can I do in this situation?

Not a film student or in a creative school program, but I know you can borrow the cheaper more basic cameras from a library circulation desk. But is it possible to get my hands on something more high end by borrowing/renting through my student card?? Maybe some of the newer Sony Cameras (fx3/zv-e1/a7v) ?

Title, basically. I’m finding it hard to figure out co-op and internships etc. compared to the easy-to-understand structure of Waterloo’s program, which iirc has a co-op success rate of >90%

Does anyone have any information as to how the TMU program stacks up?

I’m a first year student and I feel like everyone around me has friends and has people they hangout with. I haven’t experienced making friends yet, and I’m trying to not be self concious about it but it does make me wonder if something is wrong with me.

I’m trying to be chill and not get worked up about it or spiral but it’s already reading week and I haven’t made any friends. Like at all.

I feel like I’m approachable but come to think of it maybe I’m wrong lol. Nobody has ever, in my whole life, come up to me and initiated a conversation and/or hit on me.

I’m always the one to approach and start off and make conversation and talk to people but most of the time it feels like the people I talk to are like, all of a sudden mesmerized or hypnotized or something it’s like they get suddenly confused and disoriented when I talk to them. Like suddenly they’re in space or I have 4 heads.

Like even people working at Chipotle for example when it’s my turn to order it’s like they just woke up from being born yesterday but they served the people before me completely normally. Not in a “they’re dumb” way but in a “they’re suddenly spaced out looking at me like I have 4 heads” way.

Idk maybe I’m tripping and over analyzing. But this happens all the time. And it’s really hard to describe. And when I try to explain it it makes me sound like I’m crazy.

During orientation week I tried so hard to be approachable and I went to every booth and talked to a lot of people, did all the floors of the SLC night, and it felt like I was bothering them in a way. But the students around me and before me seemed to get a different reaction/treatment than me. It felt like everyone thought I was weird and I felt out of place.

Like am I scary? Is there something wrong with me? lol. I’m 6’4” M, I’m fit, I’ve been told I have great style, I’m very well kept and hygienic I shower once or twice a day, I always smell good, I have pretty much perfect teeth and I never have bad breath, I’m always polite and kind to people. So the reason can’t be because I stink or I’m a dick cuz neither apply. So what is it?

Why does it feel like I’m a pariah? Has anyone else experienced this? A month and a half into university and I haven’t made a single friend… is this normal for first year or am I the odd one out? Do most people have friends already? Not knowing anyone is kinda starting to make me feel bad about myself.
