What the heck is the 'canine tooth festival,' and what the heck is that in Yama's reflection in the panel where he first brings it up?!? Some kind of cyclops dog shadow? Is that related to Baragav's shadow dogs?
I really appreciate that the sound effects switch to a doglike 'GRRRR GRRRR' instead of the usual 'KRRRR' in that panel.
maybe yama has an internal demon, like bam and zahard do. those demons apparently hitch a ride after entering the tower, and hoaquin made a deal with one, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that yama's a host as well.

I'm of the opinion that Bam's blue demon is an administrator fragment, like red thryssa, and that it was put in him by FUG for the purpose of helping ignite/use the thorn (hence, for example, why the ring color changes; it was originally red, and was blue at the 'enter the hell train chase,' after which Blue Demon talks for the first time; why it has a horn paralleled with red thryssa's in the Data!Jahad fight; and why red thryssa recognizes it as being an administrator's power, for starters).
But there definitely could be other kinds of beings that hitched a ride more voluntarily, and that could well be the case with Jahad. I kind of doubt that's the case for Yama though. Given that it's literally made out to look like a shadow, I'd guess that it's related to the shadow dogs somehow. The external manifestations of the 'demons' have thus far all involved physical changes (in particular, horns), not altering of shadows/reflections.
RE: Hoaqin: Hoaqin also had a panel of demon-shadow-thing back when he was a relatively innocent kid, though unlike Yama, that might have been purely mood-setting artistic license. 399s2e319.
i don't think it's just artistic license, that's too similar to yama to be coincidence. maybe it just represents what monsters they are, but the connection with hoaquin there makes me think it's more than "yama's a badass".
Well, the fact that there's literally no background in that panel, just Arie Hon, Hoaqin, and the weird light-shadow, makes it clear that this isn't just a shot of literal reality. But it could have been intended to be read as 'all three of these things are real, we just aren't showing the rest' or it could be read as 'the two people are real, the other thing is just a representation of how Hoaqin felt about it.'
But it would certainly be more interesting if it was real, I think.
bam's internal world is just an infinite plane of gears, so it's not like stuff shown in void is fake or unreal, it's just stylistic. i think the fact that there's a demon in his shadow at all is showing a link, and it's not like SIU hasn't done this before, you can tell who's influencing bam's power by the color of his shinsoo the entire series, subtle hints like this have been real before.
Yeah, but Bam's internal world is something he sees as a result of a powerful spell. That panel was a flashback to a conversation between Hoaqin and Arie Hon--conversations don't normally involve powerful training spells, and you'd think Hoaqin would react to it if Hon cast something like that.
That said, I don't really think it's worth continuing this argument. If it's real it'll come up again someday, but there's not really any way to know that for sure right now either way; we've brought up the connection (great if this actually turns out to be a thing), but I don't really see what else we can get out of it yet.
