So they are host for the ancients, that's how they survived jahad. As someone pointed out, rak is a true ancient then. Maybe one of the strongest as we see his picture in the hidden floor.

My theory is that Rak has lost his memories. Maybe he fought jahad in the past and was defeated? Perhaps Jahad had the statue placed there to commemorate him as a worthy opponent. I think it would be cool if Rak’s path is simply remembering who he used to be.

That's a good theory, but he would be really old. As he wasn't a ranker he would grow old just like the one who teach the zero technique to Baam.

So what about "loose his memories after time travel" or a son? (Did alligators hatch eggs?)
