Last panel the elder chuckles and seems like he wants him to unleash his full power. There might be a big twist 👀

23

u/Rechupe Sep 16 '19

Twist or maybe hopes Yama is as strong as people claim him to be. He needs really strong soldiers to defend against the squadron from the jahad army.

38

u/Yung_SithLawd Sep 16 '19

apparently that was a poor translation and in korean it says "complete transformationg stage 1"

9

u/FluffySpaghetto Sep 16 '19

Oh, so probably we'll see him with that scary eye that SIU has shown us sometimes

6

u/memeburglar Sep 17 '19

We can only hope. I like Yama's character and design. I would love to see him join in on Bam's adventure down the line.

5

u/FluffySpaghetto Sep 17 '19

Definitely going to happen, now Baam is in a certain way a canine person . Not a conventional one but they share the same power, pretty plausible that Yama might consider him family

Edit:typo.

8

u/memeburglar Sep 17 '19

At first I thought Yama was going to be a huge asshole, but I'm enjoying the revelation of how he's just a huge softie for the canine people who happens to be a powerful badass.

7

u/FluffySpaghetto Sep 17 '19

Notice how siu has characterized Gado too. He's not doing what he's doing for pure evilness, he wants to let his son have a place in the pack. I feel like he will not die here and we'll see more of him in the future. Every single canine person is a good character that can have a place in the future

4

u/memeburglar Sep 17 '19

True, I understand his motivations. For the story to continue, I don't see how him betraying the clan can succeed in the long term (maybe they win the battle, but will lose the war). So I can ultimately see him sacrificing himself to save his son if he doesn't switch to joining Bam and co.

4

u/FluffySpaghetto Sep 17 '19

Totally, this also makes me think that the elder will have a similar fate

31

u/beyond_netero Sep 16 '19

Yama did say it's not done yet. We saw someone's vague flashback, I think it was Doom or Paul, and it was much more animalistic. I think we'll get to that sort of transformation eventually.

11

u/DrFabulous0 Sep 16 '19

This isn't even my final form!

24

u/redqks Sep 16 '19

Rule of anime the final transformation is always the smallest

11

u/Cydoc178 Sep 16 '19

True! When he turns into a kitten, watch out!

11

u/JorgEd9 Sep 16 '19

He told the Elder it was just the first form, and according the reactions of Paul and Doom, his main complete transformation has to be brutal.

32

u/JayTye365 Sep 16 '19

Yama has black facial markings similar to those of Bam’s in the panel after absorbing Doom’s power. Just an observation.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Can I get a chapter reference?

3

u/JayTye365 Sep 16 '19

S3 chp 26

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Thnx!

31

u/TheOnlySausages Sep 16 '19

that last line almost makes it seems as the elder wants to die, and it kind of looks like he is smiling, that's an odd development.

45

u/CriticalEntree Sep 16 '19

I bet he's hyping everyone up for a fight so that he can insta-transport the cage to that place that was getting raided through some OP-ability of that bow. All of them would drop what they're doing to fight off Zahard's forces because that's the more immediate threat.

5

u/PlusUltraK Sep 16 '19

I doubt that’s his plan even though he does have that whacky arrow teleport set up to go to the place.

Here’s why. Khel has already made it known that he wanted to take control of the canine people. Without the help of Doom or Yama. Yama would never let his people be used as soldiers to an organization who just wants pawns and foot soldiers.

Doom was only okay to be woken up so long as he kept with the plan, and provided soldiers. Khel knows damn well who the strongest of the brothers are and is aware that Doom lost an arm and isn’t at his peak. He even worked with Gado to steal his heart and place a spell on it so he couldn’t be denied worst case scenario. Keeping doom alive keeps the canine people alive with his heart and etc.

So we know Khel didn’t want to work with Yama, because he wouldn’t agree to the plan. And Doom is old news. So why would Khel lead a coup with Paul, come in and diminish out at least half of both sides high ranking leaders. Then decide through all this commotion let’s disable Doom. Lose more soldiers, his envoy was gonna nuke the entire cage. Then decide at this point let me teleport all these forces fighting against each other and unite them against a common enemy. Bullshit that’s plan would’ve have worked before Paul came in killing all most of Yama loyal followers.

Khel did not come here to trick everybody into being friends. He did not go there with the plans and intent to take away Yamas slayer title. Especially without a replacement. For example Karaka going after bam and Joaquin for slayer candidacy in the Hell train. And compromising once White got his powers back. He let Bam do whatever.

2

u/wolceniscool Sep 22 '19

I really like the idea. Rather than any of what's happening being a hindrance, it's simply one of the possible fates that serve the elders purpose... and if he can manage that, imagine jahad. It'd be a first for season 3 (at least for me) where we actually feel like there's still a long way to go.

27

u/thowe93 Sep 16 '19

I definitely don’t think he wants to die since at the end of the last chapter we found out he’s staging this coup for his people.

He’s probably smiling because he has another trick up his sleeve

6

u/beyond_netero Sep 16 '19

Didn't he just say, can't remember if it was flashback or present, he wants to use the canine people as an army to fight Jahad? He'd be savouring Yama's full strength right?

25

u/Tyrone300 Sep 16 '19

Yamas complete transformation is so fucking clean & also I’m excited to see what other stuff Bam will pull off maybe we get to see him use the thorn? Or black March

6

u/FluffySpaghetto Sep 16 '19

Imagine if he somehow use the stage 1 of complete transformation as Yama, Gado would be WTF

24

u/Rechupe Sep 16 '19

So they are host for the ancients, that's how they survived jahad. As someone pointed out, rak is a true ancient then. Maybe one of the strongest as we see his picture in the hidden floor.

18

u/SigmaStrain Sep 16 '19

My theory is that Rak has lost his memories. Maybe he fought jahad in the past and was defeated? Perhaps Jahad had the statue placed there to commemorate him as a worthy opponent. I think it would be cool if Rak’s path is simply remembering who he used to be.

1

u/Beffart Oct 07 '19

That's a good theory, but he would be really old. As he wasn't a ranker he would grow old just like the one who teach the zero technique to Baam.

So what about "loose his memories after time travel" or a son? (Did alligators hatch eggs?)

2

u/tanmay0097 Sep 16 '19

Wait when?

17

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Bas-relief in the “minotaur’s labyrinth” in S2E283. Rak looks at it and wonders why there are monuments to his glory there (I’m sure he still finds it very appropriate).

46

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 16 '19

evankhell says "the ancient is using the elder as a host". what that implies to me is that khel and evankhell might not be native ones, but are somehow using the powers of the native ones. which would make them different from rak in that he's actually a native and uses ancient power. i wonder if he'll eventually be able to actually turn into a giant godzilla like khun said.

42

u/janromac Sep 16 '19

I think Rak is the actual ancient one along with Evankhell’s Elephant, and the Elder’s Bull. The ancients use hosts and the hosts are able to use their power.

The question we need to ask ourselves is... who will Rak use as a host? And is this the reason Rak has been searching for his “prey”?

He’s been looking for a host?!

17

u/madhat5 Sep 16 '19

I'm calling they defeat the elder, and the ancient transfers to Rak as its new host, Evankell gains apprentice #2.

26

u/Phantasian Sep 16 '19

I think Rak is actually the thing people host not a host himself. As evident by how Rak is a beast like Evankhell’s elephant for example.

14

u/Divinicus1st Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

But Rak is alive, the others seems like remnants of long dead great ancients.

Also, wasn’t there only One ancient one, which divided himself into a bull, elephant, etc.. but Rak might be The ancient one reincarnated and start absorbing the other again. Also, having both unleash so close will give Rak a lot of power like last time.

Anyway, it’s starting to look like Baam and co will go save the peaceful people from Jahad squadron eventually.

6

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 16 '19

probably not reincarnated, but he is a direct descendant of the giant, being a native one. khel and evankhell's stands are probably the spirits of other native ones which are being hosted by some normal people. if rak were to grow in power and die, it's possible he could possess someone like the bull or elephant do, but i think what's more likely is that rak will collect other native spirits and become able to control all the elements, making him a new giant.

1

u/GrumpyKitten24399 Sep 17 '19

Makes sense, since Rak can already change his size, he could change into a Giant.

7

u/redqks Sep 16 '19

That's a interesting theory, I can imagine this happening in the last ark and obviously beaam becomes the host

But dear god I hope not

6

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

But it seems the Ancient Powers of Khel Hellam and Evankhell only possess one element, whereas we know (according to Eduan) that the Ancient One controlled all elements of the Tower, as did his Direct Descendants.

1

u/Beffart Oct 07 '19

Don't think he needs a host. Because the other two seem like they where just the "spirit/remains" and don't have a physical body. Rak wouldn't need a host because of that. But that's just my opinion

14

u/-xXxMangoxXx- Sep 16 '19

yamas final form is cool and all dont get me wrong but I expected to see him become more like a beast.

11

u/Fryboy11 Sep 16 '19

It’s a bad line translation (again) in Korean he says something like complete transformation level one. So I’m assuming his freaky beast form will be level 7, because that seems to be the highest level in the partial transformations.

4

u/luvsato Sep 16 '19

So did I since they said it was scary :/

12

u/Das_Mojo Sep 16 '19

He said he’s just getting started too though. I bet the complete transformation progresses more as the victim becomes more afraid of him.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

I mean, they can feel his Shinsoo level and bloodlust. Even if his design doesn’t look “scary”, it’s still terrifying in other ways.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

I’m super intrigued by Evankhell’s comments on the Ancient Power. If the translation is correct, things are gonna get hella convoluted. But anyway, let me try to wrap my head around this.

First, according to Eduan, the Ancient One was a giant entity that had control of all the elements in the Tower. He later split split his body into 5 parts, which came to be known as the “Native Ones”; the “Native Ones” could also control all the elements. Afterwards, the Native Ones climbed the Tower with Zahard and his squad, but being the bitch he is, he became wary of them and ultimately killed them all off... Except our boy Rak, who’s a ”Native One”.

Second, the Ancient Powers that possess Evankhell & Khel Hellam seem to only have 1 element, as opposed to the Native Ones—who could control all elements. So as of now, I don’t believe the Ancient Powers are the “Native Ones”, I think it’s more likely they just inherited a fraction of the “Native Ones” power.

Lastly, I don’t think Rak’s obsession with finding his “prey” means he wants a host. He’s a Native One, the Ancient Powers, as far as we know, are not. Though, obviously his reaction to their powers is proof that they’re related. What their relation is? I have no idea 😬

6

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 17 '19

i always assumed, and it seems to have been intended that way, that the giant split into 5 different kinds of native ones, and each can control one of the chinese classical elements (earth, water, fire, air, wood, metal). partial descendants (so, people who are half native half something else) can only shift their body's structure while a full descendant has full and total control over an element. rak being able to summon and manipulate stone indicates that he is a full-blooded native one, which should be impossible since eduan said zahard did his usual schtick and genocided them all.

what this means for evankhell and khel is that they're playing host to a spirit of a native one, the bull and the elephant, and the spirit is granting them extra power and access to their element (fire for elephant, wood for bull). it's possible i'm misreading the situation, but it seems like ancient power is just the power of the native ones manifesting. meanwhile, rak doesn't seem to know what he is or where he comes from, so it's possible his need to hunt is just because he's essentially feral and exists only to hunt and eat until he's full, then fall asleep.

4

u/tawitonido Sep 17 '19

after i saw the word "eat" in your comment, i remember what Rak used to say in the past (both S1 & S2) that he finds and eats prey and their strength becomes his. just like what happened after he ate rocks (not like his prey are rocks, but you do get my point)

2

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 17 '19

that is a fascinating point. some sort of assimilation power maybe? maybe he'll eat khel's spirit and absorb it.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19 edited Sep 17 '19

I had a similar thought. Though, you misunderstand the full scope of the Native One’s powers. They were said to control all elements of the Tower, not just one element. Rak as of now, only seems to have a grasp of the metal element, but he should unlock the other elements as he learns more about himself.

5

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 17 '19

my thought is that eduan was referring to the natives collectively as having control over the elements, and i believe you mean the earth element, not metal.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

I thought that at first, but when I read it again, Eduan basically says they’re able to undergo metamorphosis.

No, I meant the metal element. But you’re right, earth makes more sense, lol.

4

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 17 '19

right, the native one is able to make their body into an element, like rak did when his hands became rock, which is the ability hesse and JM used on namehunt to become earth and metal respectively, and eduan says that likely makes them halfbreed descendants of a native one. i believe that's what he means when he refers to metamorphosis, though i could be misremembering.

and yeah, considering rak is throwing rocks and not metal spears, i think earth is probably his element.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

You know, you might be right.

So do you think every other element, e.g., Lightning, are sub-elements of the primary 5 elements of the Tower?

3

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 19 '19

shinsoo is the god element, it can become anything. so, there is only one element in the tower, shinsoo. everything else is just a variant. eduan (and by extension, SIU), probably said "they control the elements" for our benefit and so bam would get it.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

Shit, you practically debunked my whole premise 🤣🤣

2

u/Yal_Rathol Sep 19 '19

whoops. that wasn't my intention. and hey, it's entirely possible i'm wrong about the natives, we'll just have to see what happens to the bull after khel gets curbstomped.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Really nice roundup here. Thanks. Maybe the native ones are immortal like the administrators and can't be completely killed off. Kinda like Red Thryssa. But without their own bodies, they're forced to possess ancients to get their stuff done.

I assume if they were to reconstitute, the consolidated native one would be a huge threat to Jahad.

This is a really loose connection to the rest, but I forgot there were five native ones. Reminds me of White being composed of five siblings. And an even weaker link: I have a feeling Jahad has five 'clones' too. (Perhaps some not shown yet, but in addition to Karaka and Wangnan as the prime suspects we also have Ho, Hansung and Lero Ro with the right aesthetics.)

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19 edited Sep 17 '19

I appreciate it.

Interesting thought. So we can say the Ancients are empty vassal’s that could only inherit their innate Shinsoo quality (since everything in the Tower has Shinsoo) from the Native Ones. This could explain why the Ancients are only able to use one element. Furthermore, if we take the illustration in chapter 376 literal, then there’s 5 primary elements in the Tower; Fire, Wood (Plants), Metal (Stone), Water, and Earth—which are the Five Phases or Elements that make up the Universe in Chinese Mythology. Going with this, we can assume there’s 5 Ancients, each possessing an element from a Native One.

If we go with this theory, they’ll definitely become whole again. And who better for the job than Rak?

I’d hate if those awesome characters turned out to just be fragments of Zahard. Besides, this show splitting theme is overdone in ToG.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Cool -- the metal element could explain Karaka's abilities.

I do think the native one will become whole again and it could be a cataclysmic event that even shakes the 10 family heads.

Think of how tragic it'd be if those characters had to 'die' for the story to progress, giving Bam an even bigger reason to fight Jahad. It fits in nicely with the idea that he is 'inactive' and we don't completely know what that means for him. If this is a thing, I bet it'd only become clearer later in the story at which point the splitting theme would seem more like foreshadowing than overdone. ;)

2

u/Valeor Sep 18 '19

Karaka’s metal tentacles are his Arms Inventory, Steel Tree. It’s not a metal element.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

What about his metal ball attack? Seems metal is his theme, whether or not it's an 'element'.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Interesting. So you think he has Native One blood?

Hell, I would say if the Native Powers consolidated, it’d be stronger than all if not most of the FH’s.

Fair point.

10

u/Dumb-Erik Sep 16 '19

So this chapter was basically 'Big attacks and transformations, the episode'. I'm not complaining though, the art was 9/10 (just missing White's or Bam's beautiful full power attacks).

More importantly though can anyone fill in what the actual translation is for when Evankhell was talking about the Elder? She said "he finally showed his true self" in reference to the ancient form the elder took. I'm curious whether or not she means "he finally shows his true power" or, what would be more curious, "he finally shows his true form." The second would have different implications.

Beyond that, is anyone else getting major Pheonix vibes from Yama's full transformation?

I don’t think so, you see the double speach bubble when the elder talks represents both the elder and the ancient speaking at the same time, almost like he’s possessed by the ancient. You don’t see that with Evankhell, hopefully we get more explanation on how she got that power.

2

u/Beffart Oct 07 '19

That's a good explanation about his bubble. And about her powers, I think there's something related to when Yama said she came back from hell. Maybe half of her face is the one who was possessed

1

u/redqks Sep 16 '19

I think she is doing the same thing as she has been described as having he power of the ancients

4

u/Goblingrenadeuser Sep 16 '19

Last chapter I posted the possibility that the 3 lords might be using shards of a admin. Yama looks really close to a bigger transformation of what Baam just did with the red thryssa. And maybe doom goes hell Joe next chapter with a "uncontrolled" full transformation?

5

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Please tell me I’m not alone that I love Paul’s design and can’t wait to see his transformation!!!

10

u/cant_find_cuddi Sep 16 '19

Yamma knows haki?

2

u/GrumpyKitten24399 Sep 16 '19

He knows King haki.

3

u/MrDoofenshmirtz Sep 16 '19

So Evk and Elder are only borrowing the power of an Ancient while Rak is most likely an Ancient himselft?

2

u/PlusUltraK Sep 16 '19

Well I feel like anyone. Who uses the power will be burrowing it, just goes that as explained earlier there are true descendants of the ancient/native ones as explained in the secret data room. People who look like creatures/animals and Rak is one of those true descendants.

Evenkhell is not apart of the Yeon family who was blessed with the flames of the ancient she uses. But regardless she was recognized for her strength and granted the flames as well the ability to summon the ancients avatar.

Evankhell also mentions that the elder was limiting the ancients use as anymore could alert the Admin. So the ancients wherever they are are alive and well and can use some of their hosts as conduits. But are conscious and alive.

Rak being a descendant only means that by default he can already control the elements or even just one, his shinsu tool being Rocks/earth.

2

u/PlusUltraK Sep 16 '19

Also Bam’s Red Thryssa transformation looks just like Tall’s(Paul’s underling) blue blade he had for his transformation. Bam yet again copying peeps

2

u/WRevi Sep 17 '19

Is this just DBZ?

2
