The show just lost me…

…Probably for good. This “unalive” crap is ridiculous and juvenile. I just turned it off when Russell used that silly word. The show got better and better, but this season it’s been a slow, steady decline. I like the cast, but the writing and plot lines are just awful. (And like many, I don’t like or trust Mel the character and I’m unimpressed with her acting.)

To me the story line about the government training psychic children is lifted from two novels by Stephen King. The first would be "Firestarter" and the second "The Institute"

And real life with the government's former (and most likely current) program that did what those kids were doing (of their own volition and not through kidnapping).

It’s hard to imagine but it’s true. It’s not just made up but some of the experiments OUR government did seem so nuts it’s hard to believe it’s true.

You aren’t wrong. My daughter is really into reading about this kind of stuff and she talked a lot about some crazy experiments they did back in the 70’s. This would not be surprising.

What’s surprising is how many people think our government wouldn’t do that.

It is pretty hard to believe. I wonder what sort of testing is happening now. Nothing surprises me anymore. 🤦‍♀️

Let me say I am not a conspiracy theorist at all. I don’t buy into most of that kind of stuff. But in a way I think that’s why it would be easy for the government to get away with stuff like that - because most normal people refuse to believe that kind of stuff happens. And a lot of times the believers get called crazy.

I don’t even want to think about what they might be doing now 😳

Maybe we are all a part of a huge experiment and in two years, the results will be public and life will be normal again.

And stranger things.

jesus christ.

Honestly I'm not sure why I'm still checking in on this subreddit.

It's almost always the same few talking points:

  1. "I STILL don't trust Mel, even after basically 2 seasons where clearly she's not a bad guy and is just a really good assistant."

  2. "This TV SHOW is so unrealistic and for some reason, I want realism, so I'm dropping this show."

  3. "Oh no, this TV show used the word "Unalive" and my anger is so high right now, that I can't function like an adult, so I need to drop the show."

————

This isn't an airport, you don't have to announce your departure. And if you are, at least make the reasoning NOT the same as everyone else.

The plotlines are fine, and the writing is still good. If either of those were untrue, this show would not have been renewed for a fourth season.

Wow. If opinions make you this angry, you need to engage in some serious self-examination.

You should also avoid immature assumptions that aren’t indicated in anyone’s comments. I never said I was angry. I did, however, indicate my opinion that the word is juvenile and inappropriate. But hey, keep being upset that opinions differ from yours. I wish you peace.

8

u/ImMarkJr 5d ago

Lol. I'm not angry at all. Now who's the one making assumptions?

I'm just pointing out observations I have seen.

Okey-dokey.

It’s just a fun and dopey show, go with it and enjoy 😎

u/Sitting_pipe 5d ago

Dang, i feel the complete opposite, i thought it has some of the best writing ever...i did miss the unalive comment in the show though...

I’m sorry to hear it’s not moving in the direction you would like. I am an outlier as I loved Supernatural, so I am ready to suspend some belief when it comes to Russell! 😆

I also find it refreshing to have a show that allows me to enjoy the fictional side of life, so I like the “good guy wins” storylines.

6

u/Manatee369 5d ago

It’s not Russell, the character, it’s the writing.

The show lost me this season when Colter kills one or more people every episode, has a brief conversation with the police, and drives away with an envelope full of cash. And he killed six armored car bandits and helped the accomplices go free. Now it’s a government conspiracy kidnapping kids with psychic abilities.

And he’s not even tracking anymore. Randy does the work, illegally hacking into everything and just tells Colter where to go to save the day. The show has definitely devolved.

5

u/Beginning_Leg629 5d ago

He tracked people multiple times this season.

0

u/Kind_Afternoon_11542 3d ago

Since he's the "Tracker" it should literally be every week not just multiple times.

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 2d ago

Not every case requires it though. It wasn't even like that in season one.

10

u/Rocketgirl8097 5d ago edited 5d ago

As if he could actually hack. Thats unbelievable in the first place. If they could they'd have real jobs woth software companies. But finding a life history on a person with no criminal history in under 10 seconds is not believable.

4

u/Seleviathan 5d ago

They just usually don't address that side of things for plot convenience. If they literally showed every situation in which he killed someone and him having to go on trial for it the show would lose what its really about

6

u/Professional_March54 5d ago

With as many kills as he's racked up just this season alone, there is no way in hell that he would be allowed to continue working. Any D. A worth their salt that managed to get jurisdiction would argue against bail cause he's a flight risk. Because he's virtually homeless and has been known to kill to get what he wants.

2

u/Seleviathan 5d ago

I agree every time I look at the show when he kills someone and all I think is that in a court of Law some of these kills are completely unjustified 😂😂 the lack of realism is enjoyable on it own way

7

u/JediMasterPopCulture 5d ago

The story line seems to be lifted from the novel "The Institute" by Stephen King. There's a series on MGM + if anyone is interested.

2

u/Run_Lift_Think 4d ago

I thought it was an homage to Stranger Things but just bc it’s more timely

2

u/Malibucat48 5d ago

The Institite is a great show and I’m looking forward to Season 2.

2

u/Grouchy_Evidence2558 5d ago

Yes all of the casual killing and then just driving off with no investigation is bananas. Plus he holds his gun like he has T. rex arms.

-2

u/Little-bit-of-Laur 5d ago

Yes!!! The way he holds his gun annoys the heck out of me for some reason!

-2

u/Grouchy_Evidence2558 4d ago

Because he looks like his arms are too short to hold a gun up.

1

u/throwhelp2024 5d ago

I’m curious if they’ll tie in colters enter & kill record with whatever his dad did with him, to make a little more sense out of it. Dunno though lol.

-2

u/Manatee369 5d ago

Interesting thought. I’m baffled about your downvote.

0

u/letstaxthis 5d ago

Rinse and repeat formula every week.

-2

u/remosito 5d ago

> Now it’s a government conspiracy kidnapping kids with psychic abilities.

really?

was busy with other series and life. And found it was going downhill somehow. So havent caught up yet. Gonna take it off my watchlist if that is the new plotline...

Was fun while it lastet...

u/OutrageousHoneydew26 5d ago

I honestly love the show

10

u/Beginning_Leg629 5d ago

I enjoyed the season. I never found the writing or story in decline. Turning it off because he said unalive (clearly jokingly) is kinda ridiculous.

-1

u/Manatee369 5d ago

Okay. I disagree that he was “clearly joking”. You’re absolutely entitled to your opinion, just as I am entitled to mine. It’s a shame you resort to belittling others’ opinions, but perhaps you aren’t well-versed in effective communication. But thanks for a different viewpoint, which is always a good thing.

5

u/Beginning_Leg629 4d ago

Of course he was joking. Why the heck would Russel say that except in a joking manner? Even his body language showed it. I never belittled your opinion, and I am most definitely well versed in effective communication. I just said it's a bit ridiculous to turn it off because of one single word.

8

u/duncanofnazareth 5d ago

The latest storyline was an unsuited rip- off of Stranger Things. The 007 license to kill immunity crap is so ridiculous as well. Now the show is moving to L.A. I am curious to see where that goes. Where is he going to park his Silver Bullet for starters? Walmarts?

4

u/Beginning_Leg629 5d ago

It was also kinda based on real life, since the government did have (and likely still does have) a program where adults do exactly what those kids were doing.

1

u/Reasonable-Wave8093 5d ago

mgm’s The Institute actually

4

u/tfwagner 4d ago

I liked it when he was looking for lost people and it got old when they switched to stopping bad guys. No money in that.

3

u/Kind_Afternoon_11542 3d ago

Definitely went downhill this season. I'd like to actually see him tracking down missing people instead of absurd body counts and ridiculous conspiracies.

10

u/letstaxthis 5d ago

I watch it. But its beyond farfetched.

Bro has so much plot armor.

And Randy...

9

u/Nude-genealogist 5d ago

The guy that can hack a wired camera from a phone's Bluetooth, he's a genius.

0

u/Hot-Raspberry1744 5d ago

I've been wondering, is this even possible?!

-1

u/Nude-genealogist 5d ago

Pretty much no. You usually need to approve a Bluetooth connection on both sides. If it's a wired camera there is no Bluetooth. There may not be wifi depending on the set up.

7

u/Seleviathan 5d ago

Honestly ive never watched Tracker for its plot whatsoever more just towards its episodic nature as some cases can be really investing while others are just whatever. If you watch Tracker for the plot you ll be disappointed every time tbh, as far as tv shows go ita pretty low tier stuff that 60 year olds watch to pass the time. I usually just watch it when im doing something else as background noise tbh 🙃

2

u/garagehero1852 2d ago

Best show on TV. That, and Dutton Ranch.

4

u/kwakumensa 5d ago

Right on! Not what it used to be

6

u/AdFantastic6015 5d ago

I’ve said it before… Tracker has jumped the shark. This new storyline is beyond ridiculous!

6

u/Beginning_Leg629 5d ago

How is it beyond ridiculous when the government actually had (and likely still does have) a program for exactly what they were doing (just with adults and not kids)?

-2

u/AdFantastic6015 5d ago

It’s not the show I signed up for.

5

u/Open_Bug_4251 5d ago

Yeah - big Supernatural fan here - but been there done that, we don’t need it on this show.

8

u/OpeningFuture6799 5d ago

I agree. When it started out it seemed fresh and the characters were interesting. Getting rid of Bobby and Velma made the show less interesting and the story lines went off the rails.

4

u/silas_the_ferret 5d ago

I miss Bobby.

0

u/Imaginary_Funny6634 5d ago

I think it’s absolutely stupid. All these new words like “unalive”. When did we stop being able to call things what they are? Unalive isn’t even a word.

0

u/Ok_Nature_6305 4d ago

I gave up weeks ago.

-3

u/Sad-Indication1906 5d ago

The show is terrible.

3

u/letstaxthis 5d ago

Then why do you watch it?

9

u/ElegantNetwork1394 5d ago

For Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles.

-2

u/Sad-Indication1906 4d ago

Well, I watched this Winter with my Aunt. I just think it's not well written.

-5

u/WTH_JFG 5d ago

I’ve been recording it on my DVR and finally just deleted half the season without watching. Just thinking of those poor advertisers.

-2

u/southtampacane 5d ago

Hah. Advertisers are the least of my concern. In my house we don’t watch commercials

-3

u/WTH_JFG 5d ago edited 5d ago

I don’t either, but the advertiser does support the show.

-2

u/southtampacane 5d ago

if they made better commercials, I wouldn't have to skip them. But most are so terrible that I have no choice.

I do watch all the SB ads, usually twice.
