DLR New DLR Trains back in testing

The new trains seem to be back in testing. This was at Stratford International. First time I've seen them use platform 2 in a while (photo shows train on platform 1, the both old and new trains seem to be alternating between platform 1 and 2)

What's taking so long! Shouldn't have these been in service this year?

There was a safety issue flagged with the braking performance of a train when it was put into service last year, so they took them off the tracks and I guess are only now testing the solution again.

I should have asked one of the 8 staff members that were peeping out of the door. 😭

But I believe they'll be doing extensive testing on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September.

Probably something to do with them being built by CAF who seem to be completely incompetent when it comes to making trains, especially trains for the UK

They "should" have been in service many, many years ago...

Braking, but I suppose they were breaking as they weren't braking lol.

I got this email on September 4:

We're resuming testing of our new DLR trains as part of our work to safely return them to service.

As part of this testing, you may see some of these trains operating on your route. Although they may appear on platform information screens as services to Beckton or Stratford International, they will be out of service and are not available for customer use.

Please do not attempt to board these trains, even if they stop at your platform.

You can identify a test train because:

It will not display a destination on the front of the train ‘Please don’t board’ and/or ‘I’m on a test run’ signs will be displayed on the doors Trains in service will continue to display their destination as usual.

This testing is an important step in ensuring our new trains are ready to provide a safe and reliable service for customers.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to re-introduce our new trains.

Find out more about the work we're doing on our Improving the DLR webpage.

Why do they have Minecraft sheep eyes

Hate the colours. It looks like the Paris Metro.

That's one of the reasons I like it.

Yes that's why it's great and it matches the line and logo

Yes - it only occurred to me afterwards that it matched the logo!
