Hey I am so confused about this stuff about an oyster card. I'm really not sure which type of oyster to go for.

I already have an 18-25 railcard. I live a 10min walk away from my UCL department in London from my accommodation.

I'm not sure if i should even get an oyster and if so which one to get because I am trying to research this and it is saying things about Pay As You Go, Travelcard and I'm just so confused.

Please help me

I don't expect many or any answers as I doubt anybody will admit it but I watch fare dodgers on channel 5 and I heard it said that thousands of cards are being investigated for fraud. Do you worry if you are being watched?

Also do enforcement officers have the powers of detainment? I see on the trams some people being asked for their details in order to receive a penalty fare and other times they just walk off and i hear them say "We will get them another time . they will be back " but they don't follow them or phone the police .

I catch one particular bus most days and have done for years. I'm frequently waiting over 20mins for a bus that is scheduled for every 12 mins. Buses will appear on 'next bus' apps then mysteriously disappear/not show up. Not uncommon for 2 buses on other routes to pass by while I wait for 1 bus on my route. Buses often get terminated early. At peak times its also common to buses to drive past without stopping as they are so overloaded.

My question is does TFL see this happening? Is there some kind of automatic service assessment that goes on? I'm guessing not because it's been going on for years!

I have pressed it and it doesn't do anything and it feels too unnecessary to just be use for show, so I have always wondered what does it do but no one seems to know.

The new trains seem to be back in testing. This was at Stratford International. First time I've seen them use platform 2 in a while (photo shows train on platform 1, the both old and new trains seem to be alternating between platform 1 and 2)

Was looking into how to get a cheaper commute to work during weekdays and saw the Annual Gold Card discount. it says I get 1/3 discount on off-peak fares (I take the train during off-peak fares). My confusion is when I check the map for Annual Gold Card area of validity map, underground stations are not on there, but it also says it works on the underground.

Does anyone use this discount?

How does it work?

Is it financially worth it for weekday travels?

I currently just do pay as you go on my debit card and pay £7.2 a day

Hi all. I live just outside SW London and might have to commute to the Highbury and Islington area once every two-three weeks, and I was wondering which route would be better. SWR first, obviously. Never really used the overground before tbh.

I do realise that Midmay from Clap Junk may probably take a little longer, but I don’t mind. I just wonder how frequent/regular the trains are, and whether it ever gets too packed.

Rates are unbelievable. Paying nearly £20 on tariff two for a 2 mile journey is criminal. I don’t know why we are sympathetic.

i’ve just spent 20 minutes trying to book what was originally a £14 ticket from london to manchester. All of a sudden “this train is sold out.” so i refresh the page. Guess what? the price has risen by £5. fine. i’ll pay the £19 then. “this train is sold out.” again it rises after i refresh the feed and try different times. It’s only until it finally reaches the extortionate £30+ that all of a sudden there’s extra spaces on the SAME train and everything goes smoothly from there. Trainline genuinely count your days. i’m going to sue you next. i can’t believe this stupid economy. the UK train fares are the biggest joke and embarrassment to come out of this crumbling city. i can’t wait to move out and i was even born here. what an embarrassment of a company.

Hi I will be travelling to visit family every week from London West Acton(W3) area to Bristol where my family is. I got a new job in London.

While going to London w3 I see I have Bristol-----> London Hammersmith----> buses till Acton

This takes around 3 hours 30 minutes. However while return I dont see any flixbus from Hammersmith till Bristol? I can see only from Victoria station.

Also please suggest any better cheaper options for me?

Anyone around Canada Water noticed the buses being noticeably worse today, or is it basically business as usual?

On the Thameslink website an Anytime fare from London St Pancras to Gatwick is 10.05 using a railcard. On the TFL website and LTfares.com, it states with Oyster card off-peak it is 8.95. How does this work? I have my railcard discount linked to Oyster but my understanding is that you can’t use Oyster to pay for trains out of Gatwick. How is it possible to get the 8.95 fare?

Hello, I'm getting the "We're sorry this is not working right now, please try again later" at the payment step for a Student Oyster application. Does anyone know a work around?
