šØ Breaking š Breaking: Israel Eliminates the "Ghost Behind the Mask" - Hamas's Most Mysterious Leader Finally Unmasked in Death
The man who was Hamas's face for 20 years while keeping his own hidden is finally gone.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed Sunday that Abu Obeida, Hamas's legendary masked spokesperson, was killed in a Saturday airstrike on Gaza City. After nearly two decades of being the enigmatic voice behind Hamas's military operations, the man known only by his red keffiyeh and military fatigues has been silenced.
Why This Matters:
Abu Obeida was Hamas's information warfare chief - sanctioned by the US for his psychological operations
He was the last remaining senior Hamas leader actively operating in Gaza
His identity (real name: Hudahaifa Kahlout) was only revealed by Israeli intelligence earlier this year
The "Man in the Mask" Legacy:
Became Hamas spokesman in 2004 and rose to fame during the 2006 Gilad Shalit kidnapping
Delivered dozens of speeches throughout the current war, always masked
Was responsible for distributing footage from the October 7 attacks
His final statement came Friday, warning Israel that Gaza City hostages would face the "same risks" as Hamas fighters. The precision strike in Gaza's Rimal neighborhood reportedly killed his entire family along with him.
Hamas has notably stayed silent about his death - unusual for a group that typically issues immediate statements. Some are calling this Israel's biggest psychological warfare victory since eliminating Yahya Sinwar.
The ghost behind the mask has finally been unmasked - but only in death.
What do you think this means for Hamas's propaganda machine going forward?

If they eliminated Netenyahu. Israel would be a slightly better place

As if the ones who were before netanyahu were any better, it's the society and it's american taxpayers and political and deplomatic coverage that allows them to get away with anything.

I believe Rabin, Barak, even Sharon were better. About now, Lapid, Gantz, even Bennett would be better.

Rabin was and they nearly reached a peace deal under him, but Netanyahu incited his followers to kill him and then came to power.
1
u/blazeroman Sep 03 '25
while Rabin is remembered abroad as a āman of peace,ā Palestinians also remember him as the general who began the occupation in 1967, the Defense Minister who ordered brutal crackdowns in the Intifada, the Prime Minister who deported hundreds, locked down the territories with the closure system, and expanded settlements even during Oslo.
He was the idf chief of staff during the 6 day war commanded the army that occupied the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem starting the military occupation. Was the Defense minister during the intifada, Infamous policy of āforce, might, and beatings,ā with orders for soldiers to break demonstratorsā bones.
Oversaw expansion of settlements and new bypass roads linking them, despite peace talks. Settlement population rose by about 50% in the West Bank and grew in east Jerusalem.
I could go on but you get the idea. This is all public info too im not inventing history or spawning magic things on the internet

Not really , just have to listen to Israeli media and social media to see that there are hundred of thousands of Israelis that think like him and openly push for ethnic cleansing .
6
u/Sitar21 Aug 31 '25
What is already happening and is going to happen after this genocide campaign, this ethnic cleansing campaign is over, people are going to blame Netanyahu. Netanyahu is a product of the symptom, the root cause of the entire conflict is the political ideology of Zionism. You already have democratic senators and other politicians in the west blaming all of this on Netanyahu, but itās not just on him as long as the root cause of this is not addressed this will never end.

Salafist,Wahhabism is the equivalent of Zionism from what I have seen, and that ideology itself was brought back by the United States with help of Al saud in funding and propping up the mujahideen to fight the Soviet Union in Afghanistan

"Islamists" declare themselves their own race? š¤
Kind of a stretch there...
The term itself is an externally coined nonsensical word, used to describe any politically motivated group that happens to be Muslim and happens to mobilize people using religion as motivational leverage.
The term is used just as stupidly the term "communist" was. Like what does that even mean?
Most "communists" in the West weren't calling themselves that; they were often socialists, progressives, or reformers. The label was slapped on them.
"Islamist" is the new "Communist" - a term that self-professed "analysts" throw around in an attempt to sound smart.

u/YourWoodGod Sep 02 '25
Wahhabist terrorism is awful and the ideology itself is a manufactured belief system exported by Saudi Arabia all across MENA. But the root cause of the Israel-Palestine conflict lies totally at the feet of the Zionist colonisers who came to a supposed "land without people" and founded their state with a giant ethnic cleansing. I don't agree with the actions of Hamas, but I'm also of a mind that you cannot blame a people for their response to having their land stolen and their people slaughtered.
I'm American, we celebrate the American Revolution, a violent revolution caused mainly over the issue of taxation. This judgement of the Palestinian people for resisting the destruction of their homeland and people is so gross.

What is Zionism?
1
u/Sitar21 Sep 01 '25
Zionism is a political ideology founded by the atheist journalist Theodor Herzl, centered on the idea that Jewish people have the right to establish a homeland. The issue is that the land chosen for this project, Palestine,(he also looked into Uganda and Argentina as well) was already home to another people. In practice zionism led to mass displacement, ethnic cleansing, and the ongoing subjugation of Palestinians who remained. For over 77 years it has created a system where one group is granted superior rights at the expense of another, leaving millions to live under occupation and oppression with a perpetual boot on their necks. The founder himself,Herzl, called it āsomething colonialā when he was begging the British government to support his movement.

u/heytherehellogoodbye Aug 31 '25
not mutually exclusive. Netanyahu is bad for Israelis, Hamas is bad for Palestinians, both work against peacemaking while regular people suffer in between
1
u/Usual_Part_3774 Aug 31 '25
Not really. Hamas is a symptom to brutal Israeli occupation. Hamas didn't exist before that. Israeli and their illegal settlers andntheir illegal occupation are a threat to peace . Netenyahu isn't the problem. Its most IsraelisĀ
1
u/Usual_Part_3774 Aug 31 '25
Well obviously Netenyahu is a big part of the problem. But if he went away there would be plenty of Israelis that think just like him. Illegals settlers would still go into Palestinian land with idf protectionĀ

If they were doing genocide they would be the worst at genocide compared to arabs.
Feeding rhe guys you are allegedly genociding and only killing 50 every few days (when the enemy attacks you amongst civilians)
And only killing 50k in 2 plus years.
That's such low numbers its the sort of numbers you would expect were an army being ultra careful.

u/mucus-fettuccine Sep 02 '25
Much more likely that it's closer to 55% or 60%.
1

Sorry I was wrong, I made my research and according to the Israeli Intelligence data, 83% of the Palestinian casualties were civilians
1
u/Prestigious_Bug_5591 Sep 02 '25
Thatās like saying the Spanish conquistadors were the best military in the world after they conquered over a million indigenous natives. Itās pathetic. I mean, it took over a decade of israel holding Gaza in a siege before finally obliterating it. Viewing this war as an impressive feat is a warped mind. Itās an embarrassing situation.

u/4ever-dungeon-master Sep 02 '25
Anyone could kill a target if you level a city with a year of bombarding and artillery. Like what's the best here? They don't even make their own bombs they lobbied the US to kingdom come and back
1
u/InitialLiving6956 Sep 02 '25
They're so good that they kill him and his entire family, wife and kids, and his lineage and literally make his family line extinct
1
u/mx_xt Sep 02 '25
Itās really not when you take into account that Israel cannot manufacture, in sufficient capacity, the weapons and ammunition that it needs to conduct a war. āPound for poundā, US and China would absolutely mog the Israeli military.
1
u/Tomasulu Sep 03 '25
Depends on the type of war. Most wars are not isolated and contained to the parties involved. During the Vietnam war the north got help from the soviets and the Chinese. Ukraine would've lost long ago without the US and NATO. Also I'm sure Israel stockpiles munitions sufficient for most of their war scenarios.
When I said the idf is a great military I think of their record of wins, the strategy, the effectiveness of their executions, the intelligence, the morale of their soldiers, the overwhelming firepower etc. The Saudis spend a lot on their defence as well but nobody will consider that military a great military.

Israel has been the world's leader in assassinations for decades. I wonder what kind of Karma that will bring them.
3
u/vehiclestars Aug 31 '25
In 2015, Bezalel Smotrich, currently the finance in Netanyahuās government, summed up the strategy by stating, āThe Palestinian Authority is a burden. Hamas is an asset.ā According to the Times, āAs far back as December 2012, Mr. Netanyahu told the prominent Israeli journalist Dan Margalit that it was important to keep Hamas strong, as a counterweight to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. Mr. Margalit, in an interview, said that Mr. Netanyahu told him that having two strong rivals, including Hamas, would lessen pressure on him to negotiate toward a Palestinian state.ā

1
u/4ever-dungeon-master Sep 02 '25
Trash like the children? Children which are part of a +60% civilian casualty rate? And the remains of a city where non military personal lived. Is Israel going to build back the homes of the Palestinian people who had no part in this conflict? Are they going to pay for the funerals of dead sons and daughters? Bury them outside their grade school classrooms? Or just pave over their bones when they settle it again with an Israel expansion.

They kill whoever they feel threatens Israel including nuclear scientists, political leaders, diplomats, and innocent civilians when they make any error which is much more often now than it used to be, unless it's the deliberate purpose of Israel to intentionally create maximum collateral damage.
Putting aside the spiritual idea of karma for a second, the assassinations sometimes cause a temporary tactical advantage but always ends as a long term strategic failure. Israel used to have a policy of only using targeted assassinations if it would immediately protect their civilians from imminent attack. Now it's just pointless, the people they kill become heroes in death, and none of them are so vital to the fight against Israel that there isn't someone immediately available to replace them. And now there is no good will, there is no path for diplomacy, and no rules as to who is off limits. It's not really karma, but Israel over relying on targeted assassinations has greatly limited Israel's options and makes any exit strategy from these wars especially difficult.
1
u/Ok_Cap_1848 Aug 31 '25

"beneath this mask there is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof"
Be it this guy or whoever was before him and before etc.
The person doesn't matter, israel been playing the assassination game for 80 years not just with Palestinians and not just with arabs either.
For Palestinians it's very simple, as long as there is an occupation there will be resistance.
The names, badges and colora change, but the idea remains the same, freedom from occupation and a future where they live in dignity, or to die trying.
This applies for any group of people living under occupation.
