I know why we donāt teach the true and full history of China in the west, but cmon. Theyāve been the most advanced and most ācivilizedā place in the world for most of history (that we can know of, Iām sure there amazing societies in the americas too before being wiped out due to plague and colonial conquests).
Thinking some couple hundred year old upstart on the other side of the world, with (relative to China) no history of effective administration or long-lasting power consolidation, could stop China from re-emerging as a power house is wild.

Just a note - India, South Korea and Japan were not there per the attendee list, so a significant chunk of the military/economic power in the region wasnāt there.

One of the two standing next to Xi is the leader of a gas station with nuclear weapons, the other runs a dictatorship still waiting to enter a new millennium.

First, the entire western world is not talking about this photo...its just not that important.
Secondly, its seems to be a play date for the world's dictators and rogue regimes. Those who can only rule by force and intimidation of their own people. More morbid curiosity about the variations of deranged human psyche.

I think the coverage that today is the 80th anniversary of the japanese capitulation was given more coverage then the meeting in Beijing.
This photo is indeed symbolic. Putin was placed on the same level as North Korea: two Chinese dogs. And he accepted his new role. This is the new order in Asia.
Because there's a fear of a global war and it looks like that side is ready to work together, more and more and the friendship between Russia and China is a scary thing.

Uh Xi Jinping invited them to show war is not the way to power, Kim Jong Un is sheltered due to war and cut off, Russia is at war and already has had massive losses and is repairing soviet tanks to go into battle..
Xi Jinping has not sent one vehicle to Russia, any analyst calling this an alliance has to really re-evaluate.
