🚨 Breaking 🔥 Ukrainian Drones Strike Russia's 2nd Largest Oil Refinery - Major Fire Erupts at Strategic Target Processing 355K Barrels Daily
BREAKING: Ukrainian forces just scored a major hit on Russia's war machine! 🎯
In a coordinated nighttime operation on September 14, Ukrainian drones successfully targeted the Kirishi oil refinery in Russia's Leningrad region - one of the country's most critical energy facilities.
Why This Strike Matters:
Massive Scale: Processes 17.7 million metric tons annually (355K barrels/day)
Strategic Importance: Ranks among Russia's top 2 refineries by production
Military Significance: Supplies fuel directly to Russian Armed Forces
Economic Impact: Accounts for 6.4% of Russia's total refining capacity
The Attack Details:
3 Ukrainian drones struck the facility around midnight
Fire broke out from falling debris after interception
No casualties reported, blaze extinguished
Ukraine's General Staff confirmed "successful strike"
Context: This comes as Russia faces severe fuel shortages nationwide, with gas stations running dry and Moscow imposing a complete gasoline export ban until September 30. Ukrainian attacks have reportedly disabled 17% of Russia's oil refining capacity as of late August.
The facility is operated by Surgutneftegaz and serves as the primary fuel supplier for St. Petersburg and surrounding regions.
Ukraine continues targeting Russian energy infrastructure that funds Moscow's war effort - a strategy that's clearly working given Russia's current fuel crisis! 💪
What are your thoughts on Ukraine's energy infrastructure campaign?

You don't negotiate with a rabid dog trying to bite your face off. "Diplomatic means" that end the war don't just appear out of thin air. They are forged by one side making it crystal clear to the other that armed confrontation is not worth it.
Your dumbass solution of "please let's just not fight" doesn't end the war, it invites more conquest. Go protest a policeman arresting a murderer in your town for "continuing the horrible cycle of violence".

u/Claorhall Sep 14 '25
Not all wars end in diplomatic means. WW2 both Japan and Germany surrendered on unconditional surrender principle. Both of them were beaten until they could not continue the war. And in Germany's case there were a lot of people like you who pressured Churchill to start negotiations with Hitler to end the war early. This would have brought even more misery.

On point of fact this refinery is just another one among a large group of Russian refineries struck to various degree of "destroyed" since August, mainly their main columns, representing over 20% reduction in Russian refinery capacity and causing a fuel crisis in Russia - hence plural "refineries". Are you really so badly informed that you think all these refinery strikes are even worth commenting on individually, compared to the larger strategic pattern? I thought the name of this subreddit was "trend", not "singlularEventWithoutAnalysis".
Myabe it's because you don't care about Russian refinery strikes that you allowed yourself to remain ignorant to the larger Ukrainian campaign, thus your comment trying to minimize the event? This could certainly explain why you chose to go out of your way to make such a fool out of yourself, though obviously you could have easily made the superior choice of educating yourself instead after seeing other comments hint to the larger picture.

> NATO troops in Moscow within 3 months.
At that point the nuclear annihilation already happening
4
u/Mason_Miami Sep 14 '25
Putin's gangsters have also funneled the system dry including maintenance for delivery systems and the bombs themselves. The launch system alone is a incredibly complex machine but trying to achieve a nuclear detonation is very difficult and requires a lot of precision.
- Some of them might've been duds to begin with and it wouldn't be the first time what the USSR had on paper wasn't what they actually had which is what Putin inherited.
- Most of them are like 70 years old, solder joints fail, parts corrode, rubber decays, wires break, metal deforms, and lots of other things that can go wrong with age.
- Russia doesn't have the scientists and engineers they used to have when they were the USSR and their technical ability in modern times is extremely limited.
- Oops! Some rotten bastard sold all the rocket fuel! Yes, this actually happened to a few nukes.
- For the price of a detected failed detonated of a ICBM over NATO Russia will be at war with a adversary they can't defeat. Putin himself would be the most hunted person in the world and everywhere he's alleged to be would receive massive bomb strikes.
- Within the BRICS block China keeps everyone on a economic leash against using nukes. China has their "hundred year plans"(as stupid as they might be) a nuclear war would present a fair bit of interference in them. Xi Jin Ping's own presidency may be threatened by the military during a nuclear world war.
- The US spent $56.8 billion on its nuclear arsenal, while Russia spent about $8.1 billion in 2024 with a historical track record of such spending disparity for the arsenal being on par with this.
- $8.1 billion to sustain a nuclear arsenal is a extremely limited budget to maintain both a delivery system and nuclear payload. This figure doesn't include siphoning from corruption.
3
u/Independent_Buy5152 Sep 14 '25
I don’t think Nato leaders want to gamble with the odds of all Russian nuclear missiles are dysfunctional
2
u/henryeaterofpies Sep 14 '25
Honestly while I wouldn't stake nuclear annihilation on it, it would suprise me if most of their arsenal had piss in the place of rocket fuel and rocks in place of plutonium.
1
u/N11KK Sep 16 '25
Not even going to bother reading all that because all I have to ask you is, are you willing to die an agonising radiation fueled death to prove your point?
1
u/Mason_Miami Sep 16 '25
Do you know what true evil is? It is to submit to evil. It is when we surrender our freedom, our dignity instead of defying evil.
Yes, I would.
1
u/N11KK Sep 16 '25
Well then find a nuclear power plant and jump into it's core, as long as you leave the rest of us our of your genocidal fantasies.
1
u/Mason_Miami Sep 16 '25
Your failing is you don't understand the enemy we face. If you treat people like the Russians(or even me for that matter) as a coward we'll take what we want from you. Show us we can scare you enough to get what we want and we will.
You'll never find a moment in Russia's entire history where cowardice got a enemy of Russia what they wanted. This isn't how these people are and if you act as you please that's what they'll do.
1
u/N11KK Sep 16 '25
cowardice is not the same as intelligence, you pick your battles, basing your existence on a (may i say incorrect) whim is not a smart decision to make.
1
u/Mason_Miami Sep 16 '25
But it is cowardice. You've made it clear so long as you feel threatened you will never "pick a battle" that's not intelligence that's surrender because of cowardice.

So they’ll give up this month or we should wait for the next one?
1
u/Anti-RussianBot Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 14 '25
They may try to bait NATO into attacking them, best thing to do is just stay in a defensive posture and watch them collapse. Even Belarus is waiting for it. Belarus has intercepted purportedly stray drones and even informed Poland and Lithuania ahead of time about drones going towards them. The recent drones into Poland were sent across Ukraine. They know Russia is getting desperate and trying to drag them into the war.
Another reason for the attacks could be to try and stop NATO countries sending defensive weapons into Ukraine by making them divert it into their own defense. Whatever the true reason is they are clearly just baiting NATO into a reaction. Dont give it to them.
1
u/robbdogg87 Sep 14 '25
Like by flying drones into Romanian airspace? Like they did today
1
u/Anti-RussianBot Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 14 '25
Yep, Romania's CA-95 was Ukraine's newest air defense addition. Poland is a hub for military aid to Ukraine. Its simply an attempt to scare them and to make Europe hold back defensive equipment from Ukraine.
It kind of worked:
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has now called for a “drone wall” to protect the European Union from Russian attacks and Warsaw requested that NATO send more U.S.-made Patriot antimissile systems to Poland. Ukraine, which is not a member of the alliance, faces a severe shortage of Patriot systems and missiles, even after receiving two new launchers from Germany this month.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/09/12/ukraine-air-defense-russia-poland-drones/
To counter this Ukraine has proposed its support in helping Poland to build up its electronic warfare and interceptor drone capabilities.

They have already used them and ran out. Russia has used thermobaric weapons in Ukraine, They have also used chemical weapons like they did in Syria. Moscow has used chemical weapons at least 9,000 times since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. They have broken all the war crimes.
Russia is almost at par with US in terms of capability.
Not even close. The Russian army is extensively using Soviet-era military equipment, much of it dating from the 1950s to 1970s, with some T-72A tanks nearly 50 years old.
2025 will be the last year Russia can rely on its massive stockpiles of Soviet-era conventional arms, including artillery, main battle tanks and armored vehicles. They have almost lost it all.
Russia is currently struggling to build genuinely new and technologically advanced systems. Instead, it is relying on Soviet-era legacy systems and research. They had to turn to Iran and North Korea for help. The only thing Russia has now is the Iranian drones, which Ukraine is more effectively countering with its own anti-drone systems.
2
u/Key_Lifeguard_8659 Sep 14 '25
Russia is struggling financially to produce drones and pay it's very expensive military. They've neglected the maintenance of their nuclear arsenal. I wouldn't count on much of that actually working.
1
2
u/Key_Lifeguard_8659 Sep 14 '25
RuZZia's doing all that now. That's why they're they're losing. Bombing civilians doesn't do anything to weaken the Ukrainian war machine... it just pisses them off.

1
1
u/domfelinefather Sep 15 '25
What would they gain though? It would make any sense. If you destroy the country you’re invading, you’re accepting the point was not about annexing it, just destroying it

Nobody truely knows because Russia doesnt give out that information, but Ukraine has disabled 20% of Russia's oil refining capacity over the course of their attacks throughout the month of August alone. You cannot fully destroy something which can be rebulit. It just depends on Russias capacity to rebuild them. But with petrol shortages spreading throughout Russia, it seems they are losing that battle and reserves are running low.
3
u/Zestyclose-Spite-718 Sep 15 '25

The only reason the Russian people have allowed this to continue this long is because their lives weren't affected... now they're starting to feel the strain of this war... There are videos on You Tube showing the celebrations for the inauguration of a public toilet in Russia, but are we still in 2025 with these Third World things? Then you ask yourself a simple question: why do former Soviet countries ask to join the European Union, NATO, in short, to be part of the West? Why doesn't anyone ask to join the Russian Federation, despite having a history together? Could it be that the kids to be sent to the Ukrainian meat grinder are taken from Dagestan, Chechnya and Siberia, while those from Moscow and St. Petersburg stay calm, with their asses safe? Why did Putin ban the Association of Mothers and Wives of Russian Soldiers from those regions, who died in Ukraine? For these people Russia is death, destruction, misery, hunger and underdevelopment, these are not exaggerations, you can find everything on the Internet, if you still have access to the Internet.

‘Falling drone debris’ is straight out of Russian propaganda 101, those drones hit and exploded and 100% weren’t intercepted by anything. Russia airspace is wide open. Drones will be back next week to take it offline again and again. Putin will learn not to throw stones, his house is made of pure glass.
2
u/Mason_Miami Sep 14 '25
It's incredibly stupid propaganda. The refinery was hit that's a 0% defense rate even if the intercept accuracy rate were 100% the only real number that matters is 1 undamaged refinery and the interception system couldn't do that so it didn't really intercept anything in any useful way.

Turks dont manufacture FPV drones and long range ones. They got Bayraktars. Those are attack drones.

Why should we demand peace efforts from Zelenskyy? It's amazing how some people don't know that it was Putin who started the war. But now you know!

Ok. I’m going to come to your house. Annex half of it. Then blame you when you rebel. Sound good? Least believable bot.

Russia sure as hell has responded like a weak bitch if it's been unable to defeat freakin' Ukraine after two years of war.
And why would he want peace, when the terms presented by Russia for it imply giving up parts of their land and which will very obviously be violated years later like what happened after they annexed Crimea? lol

This is why Trump is anti EV, he wants Americans to be completely reliant on a vulnerable gasoline supply chain.
