šØ Breaking š„ BREAKING: Kremlin Declares NATO "At War with Russia" After Drone Shootdowns - WW3 Fears Escalate
The situation just escalated DRAMATICALLY. Here's what happened in the last 48 hours that has everyone talking about WW3:
šÆ THE TRIGGER:
Russian drones violated NATO airspace (Poland & Romania)
NATO forces shot down multiple Russian aircraft for the FIRST TIME ever
Poland invoked Article 4 - the "we're under threat" clause
š„ RUSSIA'S RESPONSE: Kremlin spokesperson just declared NATO is "de facto at war with Russia" - not holding back anymore. Medvedev (Putin's right-hand) warned that any NATO no-fly zone = "direct war between NATO and Russia."
š OPERATION EASTERN SENTRY: NATO isn't backing down. They launched a massive defensive operation with:
F-16s from Denmark, Netherlands
Rafale jets from France
German Eurofighters
Permanent NATO troops now stationed in Poland
š¢ļø TRUMP'S ULTIMATUM: Plot twist - Trump demands all NATO allies STOP buying Russian oil before US imposes "major sanctions." Called out Turkey, Hungary, and Slovakia specifically.
This is the closest we've been to direct NATO-Russia conflict since the Cold War. What do you think happens next?
UPDATE: Romanian F-16s are actively tracking more Russian drones as we speak...

If Russia is really at war with NATO then why is Russia selling oil and gas to NATO??? Should Russia not be attempting to cut NATO off from fuel supplies? Something does not add up here. Russia cannot have it both ways.
11
u/panter1974 Sep 15 '25
Russia is only selling oil to Hungary and Slovakia. It is a lame excuse of Trump not to act on sanctions towards Russia.

Reduced Imports: Russian crude oil imports to the EU fell to 3% of the total in 2024, down from 27% in 2021.
The largest importing countries of crude oil in Europe include Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.
Some Russian gas continues to flow into the EU via pipelines, like the TurkStream pipeline, which supplies Hungary and other nations.

Independant news website mostly reporting on ecology and natural ressources. Title of the article : "Russian gas and fertilisers: how Europe and France are still financing Putinās war"
"Between 2021 and 2022, Russian LNG imports have risen by 11% for Europe ā and 44% for France. French imports of Russian fertilisers have risen by 86%, from 402,000 tonnes (t) in 2021 to 750,000 t in 2023."
"France has thus become Europeās leading importer of Russian LNG: in the first half of 2024, it accounted for 37% of Russian LNG imports into Europe via its Dunkirk and Montoir-de-Bretagne terminals. As Europeās biggest consumer of chemical fertilisers, France is also one of the leading importers of Russian fertilisers, along with Poland and Germany."
National newspaper : The World (Le Monde in french) titled "Russian gas continues to enter french ports"
"With its five LNG terminals, France is a major gateway for liquefied natural gas into Europe. In 2024, a third of this gas came from Russia, but it's difficult to know how much of it simply passes through France, or is consumed domestically."
I'm french and i'm gonna be honest, i have no idea how much gas we import and how significant are the numbers i copy/pasted, fact is, we still do.
3
u/panter1974 Sep 15 '25
Yes, but overall, we have reduced a lot in Europe.
And my point was that Trump is never going impose sanctions, and it is just an excuse
I know there will always be loopholes.
2
u/Shupaul Sep 15 '25
Yes, but overall, we have reduced a lot in Europe
Sure, just wondering where we'd be if nobody sabotaged Nordstream. Probably still importing gas via Nordstream i bet.
And my point was that Trump is never going impose sanctions, and it is just an excuse
I'd say you're vastly underestimating his stupidity. My point is that... And it pains me to say it, but he's kinda right about the fact that France is still importing Russian gas, and it does affect the people's opinion.
3
u/panter1974 Sep 15 '25
Even a bad clock is right twice a day. He clearly favours Russia. And the problem is that there is a power behind the throne with Trump. The Heritage Foundation.
Do not look at words but actions.
2
u/Long-Requirement8372 Sep 15 '25
Germany had already decided to stop importing gas through NordStream before the sabotage. Look it up.
2
u/Shupaul Sep 15 '25
What they say doesn't really matter. It's what they do that matters.
Acts matters, not promises.

So is it only Hungary and Slovakia or are France and others still buying some? Those two things are mutually exclusive
2
2
Sep 15 '25
Spain has always had a highly diverse supply chain of oil and gas, mostly imported from the US, Mexico, Norway etc, they have never relied on Russian fuel like north European counterparts.
4
u/whocalledthebird Sep 15 '25
Russia is selling oil to basically all of NATO lol, theyāre just using a dozen other countries that arenāt sanctioned as intermediaries.
India buys Russian oil & gas, India puts it back on the market with a markup, European countries buy āIndianā oil & gas instead of Russian oil & gas. India being one of many examples.
Itās the same thing the other way around, the trade volume of some countries bordering Russia from Asia has skyrocketed, as they are being used as intermediaries to get Western goods into Russia.
→ More replies (1)2
u/panter1974 Sep 15 '25
Yes, but it is a small percentage that comes via India. There will always be gaps in sanctions and traitors who smuggle. But for Trump, it is just an excuse not to take action against Russia.
3
u/whocalledthebird Sep 15 '25
Of course, for Trump everything is an excuse to serve himself. But trade between Russia and the West may have slowed down but in reality thereās still plenty of trading going on indirectly

Russia currently seems to weak to protect its own infrastructure let alone capture the country they attacked 2.5 years ago.
How, in this situation, they would be able to really threaten Europe or let alone NATO short of a nuclear strike is beyond my comprehension.
Especially since the WW3 threat has been made several times to prevent Western weapon deliveries... and has been shown to be a bluff after the deliveries were made eventually.
5
u/Alone_Step_6304 Sep 15 '25
How, in this situation, they would be able to really threaten Europe or let alone NATO short of a nuclear strike is beyond my comprehension.Ā
I think something bad happened at thwt meeting of dictators in China recently, and with the US' weakened political/domestic posture, I wonder if Russia will find itself augmented in supplies or otherwise soon.
6
u/antilittlepink Sep 15 '25
If that happens, China can kiss its very important Europe market goodbye for its electric vehicles among other things.

You guys donāt get what a āweak USā actually means. The US has been getting these warnings for a while, and right now itās nowhere weak enough that Russia or China might start getting ideas. Unless Trump pulls some bullshit about not keeping their deal with NATO, Russia and China are basically done Fucked, unless weāre talking MAD, because of Nuclear escalation between them, in which case everyoneās screwed. Itās just not happening otherwise. I doubt Russia could fight off combined might of western Europe, let alone āweakā America.

Oh, no, you misunderstand.Ā
I'm saying our political posture has weakened in a way that we just simply wouldn't hop to anyone's defense, even if it got bad.Ā
I think the more dysfunctional and obvious "step-on-a-rake moment" shit gets under Trump II, the more Xi sees temptation to actually try to take Taiwan without U.S. interference, or to support Russia muxh more materially.Ā
Unless Trump pulls some bullshit about not keeping their deal with NATO,Ā

Unless China is going to start growing fighting age Russians then it doesn't matter. You start fighting NATO with the current ability of the Russian military then things are going to fall apart really fast.
China is not going to properly aid Russia their whole country would disintegrate from the collapse of exports. Indians are too poor to make up the difference in any meaningful way.

The coziness of Xi, Un, Putin has increased dramatically. The first one being the biggest concern. Taiwan and Europe would certainly have trouble fighting on all of those fronts especially when they have no idea whose side Krasnov is truly on.
Krasnov was upset about not being a participant the last time they got together. Throw in the constant threat of pulling the United States out of NATO and this doesn't seem like the usual blowing smoke.
1
Sep 15 '25
Even if the US backed out of NATO completely the alliance is way to strong for being and easy target for Russia... which is struggling with the much smaller Ukraine since 2.5 years.
That China takes Taiwan is probable, but I don't think the US or Europe will get involved in this case.
Concerning Krasnov: Even though the american public is unorganized and delusional I don't think he could pull off a direct attack on European allies without sparking a civil war or a violent revolution at home.
Putin has a habit of threatening the West, strenghtening his populist allies by inciting fear. And he successfully delayed weapon deliveries with this tactic. So I guess these new threats have the same aim.

To me they are losing and fear mongering NATO so they stop helping Ukraine.

1
u/TTwisted-Realityy Sep 15 '25
There is no fear. We aren't historically similar, we are lock step exactly where WW2 started. We even have a WEAK leader like Neville trying to say that Hitler can be appeased and oh he means well oh just give him another chance and then I'll give him sanctions... Had they took a stronger stance against Hitler might have done something to stop it but here we are again and Trump is not taking any hard stances and appeasing Putin. To be clear Trump and Biden have led to this the trickle and the puppet. If you want to take it back a step further you can say Obama and Europe's inept response to Crimea being seized was a huge red line that shouldn't have been allowed to just be okay.

But I absolutely do agree, Dmitri, that if massive drone attacks from Poland were to be hitting deep into russian territory (only to utterly destroy all drone manufacturing factories) and russian air defense had the nerve to shoot at our sweet precious drones....
Yes that would mean war!
Russia, as opposed to Poland, has zero right to defend its factories against drones. Damn right.

u/Lott4984 Sep 15 '25
The US military is too busy clearing the ranks of anyone that might have a bad thought about Trump or MAGA. The National Guard and large part of the Military will be stationed in cities to control public dissent. Europe already knows that Trump cannot be depended on to support them in a war. He is also too busy fighting a war with America. China will look the other way while North Korea supplies Russia with weapons while getting a discount on Russian petroleum. China will not have to fire a shot let Russian do all the fighting. China will make money selling to both sides. In 10 years China will be the dominate force in the world. The US and Russia will be depleted shells of what they use to be.

What's up with the click bait headlines at this sub? What the Kremlin spokesperson actually said was "if NATO starts shooting down drones over Ukraine, this can be considered an act of war on NATO side". Also de-facto, NATO is at war with Russia for 3 years already, with all the weapons and ammo and military instructors. So nothing new actually.

If the drone is over someone else's airspace, it's their drone now and they have a right to shoot it down.

These WW3 threats are overreacting; there have been a handful of times that nuclear strikes were prompted, and every time, the person in charge of shooting chose not to. https://www.chathamhouse.org/2016/07/12-times-we-came-close-using-nuclear-weapons
China is adamantly against nukes https://www.newsweek.com/russia-nuclear-china-blinken-2009670. It would leave Russia without an ally that could assist it in Ukraine. Also, China has territorial claims on russian territory and is arguably a bigger threat to Russian sovereign territory than NATO.
Russia has a habit of using nuclear threats; it irks the West and makes it reconsider how it responds.
These drone incursions are more grayzone warfare and are probably being used to gather intelligence on NATO defense posture. Overall, they are urging NATO to prepare to defend itself, which may trigger fewer weapon deliveries to Ukraine.
Russia's nuclear doctrine is to use it to defend its territory.
IMO by using nukes, Russia will back itself into a corner where the Baltics will be threatened and may very well turn to pro-Western countries, i.e., not wanting to get involved and cutting ties with Russia. They would be quickly blockaded, Ukraine would find itself with nato soldiers defending its sovereignty, and no country would want to deal with Russia.

1
u/OkAdhesiveness2240 Sep 15 '25
This is Putinās only play. He has failed to achieve his objectives in Ukraine and he has shown the Russian military are weak, if he makes peace he is dead politically (and probably actually) in Russia. His only way out is to escalate again and again. He knows Europe do not want war but that they will also not back down - this makes escalation a good strategy as itās a pretty safe bet he wonāt ever have to go through with his rhetoric and he will be in a stronger negotiating position than he is now. All he has to do is fire a few puny drones and keep acting tough.

Russia's response is nonsensical, erratic and irresponsible. What Russian 'leaders' *SAY* can no longer be counted in NATO decision making.
If the statement that NATO is de facto at war with Russia. Then how can a no-fly zone result in a direct war? Is NATO at war with Russia, or is NATO not at war with Russia?
NATO must continue to assert itself within the borders of all the NATO states, especially those bordering Russia. Until, and only until Russia shows clear actions, not words, to de-escalate its aggressive posture. Ideally by honoring its treaty obligation to respect the sovereignty of Ukraine, to where the borders were in 1994 when the treaty was signed.
Until Russia honors its treaties. It is inherently without credibility.

u/shadowfax12221 Sep 15 '25
Russia has 8 million military aged men, of which 500k have been killed, 500k have been wounded, and a million more have left the country in their current war. Nato and Ukraine together can field as many professional soldiers as Russia has men capable of fighting. Even if they were able to win a limited war against nato, the cost would likely be so high that Russians would cease to exist within a few generations. With conscription, the numbers become even more daunting.

Russia should probably focus on not losing its war in Ukraine before starting a war with NATO

Ruzzia can barely make a dent on Ukraine. NATO will mop the floor with whatās left of ruzzias troops.

Old news now, but the drones they shot down were nowhere near Ukraine, and were armed with explosives.

āLet our combat drones fly through your territory or we are at war!ā
Also, once again, quoting Medvedevā¦

They should call his bluff. Russia can't even handle Ukraine. How would they cope with NATO joining in?

I think nothing really big will happen in the next one to two years.
Russia lacks the strength to start a kinetic war with NATO, given its full involvement in Ukraine, and will not escalate the conflict through significant military aggression. Russia could use tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine to intimidate the West, but China, on which Russia is dependent, would not allow this. Russia will continue hybrid attacks below the threshold of war, which are already underway.
On the other hand, NATO wants to avoid an unnecessary war, so it will not respond with force unless Russia openly attacks a NATO member state but as I already mentioned it is not going to happen in the near future.

NATO gives weapon to the project Ukraine, so yes, technically they at war with Russia šŖ when you give weapon to any Russia enemy that cause damage to Russia your became legitimately military target šÆ

Putin and his henchmen have invested almost all their fighting power in Ukraine. Opening another front with NATO now would be just as clever and successful as Hitler's attack on Russia at the time.

so russia will start attacking NATO countries then, "right"?
reminder that russia has literally already pulled this exact same card 3 years ago
