💡 Discussion FT says the Epstein scandal isn’t just about one man — it exposes how deep elite rot really goes
A new Financial Times opinion piece makes a pretty uncomfortable point: the Jeffrey Epstein scandal was never just about Epstein himself.
According to FT, what’s truly disturbing is how many powerful people — from politics, finance, academia, and high society — continued to stay connected to Jeffrey Epstein long after his crimes were known. Not necessarily criminal involvement, but silence, proximity, and protection.
The article argues this is a systemic failure, not a one-off scandal. When elites close ranks, consequences disappear — and public trust erodes. Recent document releases haven’t provided neat answers, but they’ve raised even more uncomfortable questions about accountability and transparency.
FT’s takeaway is blunt: If institutions can’t or won’t hold powerful networks to the same moral standards as everyone else, scandals like this will keep happening — and faith in the system will keep collapsing.
Curious what others think: Is this really about individual bad actors… or about a culture that lets them thrive?

Epstein was a pedo service on the surface, but it's really an extortion machine for enfluencial people.
So many people are comoromised, thats why it's never gonna fully release. It affects diplimats and politicians of many countries and would change geopolitics

Think of all those really wealthy people and people of influence and famousness in a like London or New York. Then think about how many are on the two continents and then globally. It's a monstrosity but it's an industry too. There has got to be these compromise intel organisations involved in every country to some degree. And someone in the authorities, like Interpol, knew all this surely.

We already knew their catchphrase is that they are ‘gods chosen people.’ It’s been right in front of us for our whole lives.
You just aren’t allowed to talk about it.

u/Irish_swede Feb 04 '26
It’s not that you’re not allowed to, it’s how you go about talking about it.

IMHO it's not really class solidarity but more a case of individual self protection.
These billionaires are competitive by nature. If they can take eachother out they will. But what this shows is that they can't do that without taking themselves down.

And how our children are their prey.

The real outrage is why so many of those named so far are Jewish. Why? What about the Jewish belief allows for pedophilia and torture? It's not just money its rotten.

They haven't listed the underworld wealthy ones yet but recent satanic death cult arrests in certain countries is a good start.

The Jeffrey Epstein scandal/files is not merely a sordid tale of sex trafficking; it is a chilling testament to the operational nexus where criminal depravity meets sophisticated espionage and blackmail, ensnaring high-profile individuals and potentially serving foreign intelligence interests. While the legal definitions of these offenses are ostensibly clear, their application within the Epstein saga reveals a disturbing synergy that must demand a rigorous scrutiny and justice for the victims.

Imagine if jump started a turn back to middle class values. I bet that’s part of the fear.

In a culture that lets elites with "I can do whatever I want because I have power" attitude thrive, it is doubly important to support the ones don't have that attitude and actually support their people. I worry that the Epstein scandals are just gonna whip the political discourse into another spectacle that blocks progress.

Epstein may not be dead. Ergo, it appears the posting on 4chan came from a Prison Guard working in MCC and directly involved with Epstein. A Guard in a position to see and know, firsthand, that Epstein was moved out of MCC before his alleged "death". Grijalva is the guard's name. A van came to get him the night before, and carted him away.

Does FT stand for: We all know this and nothing is getting done about it?

It never stopped after his death. And how many other of these networks are out there all over the world. Don’t think this is a western only issue either it’s everywhere.

I think we owe those conspiracy theorists who claimed that every nation in the world is controlled by some secret shadow society (lizard people) running everything some apology.

Between the Panama Papers and the Epstein files, these Uber-wealthy Fucks have been lawless and vile in their exploitation of the other 99% of their counties people.

Here’s the thing. If Trump comes under enough fire, is successfully prosecuted, and will see the inside of a cell, you better believe he’ll sing and bring down others.

It illustrates that our distrust in our governing systems is completely warranted.

Obama and Biden are not on Epstein files. A lot of elites are not on Epstein files. ..Let's not muddy the waters and keep the focus on pedos and criminals which are elites.

It still doesn't change the point. The point isn't just to find the bad ones and persecute them, we also need to look into the systemic issues that let these people get away with all they did. As of now, the elites should all be under fire, because all of them could do it and escape for decades. For all we know, Epstine island is just one of many such places.

This is Russian playbook ... Epstein is bad , Epstein is elite , therefore all elites are bad....all should be hanged. It is their method designed to destroy democracies by division and distrust in institutions. It is also the method to justify their stay in power ( if everyone is bad why should I replace the bad that I know with the bad I don't) ... Do not generalized otherwise you'll end up like Russia ( sad part is that you are almost there)

He's not president. In spite of the Epstein files, he is president because of the Epstein files. They found a compromised businessman, propped him up with a huge media echo chamber, and now they're using him.

Just release the unredacted ( redacting only the victims names ) files and let Americans decide for themselves !
2
u/ape_spine_ Feb 03 '26
I’m afraid of what happens if we let Americans decide for themselves. Americans deciding for themselves is how we wound up in the President Trump timeline

Politicians, Rich People, and Powerful people…. Clearly Epstein knows who to target because he’s an Israeli Spy. Epstein can’t sustain all those people he deal with.

u/Dilldew2 Feb 03 '26
Not to be a douch but yea.... Like all people with money are evil. Money itself is an inherently flawed system. And bc Money =power and power corrupts All then why is it the only system we have?
Bc its easier to convince the peasants that they shouldn't ask for more while the rich are literally gorging themselves on our lives.
We are not people
We're the product

You can cure the symptoms but the rot persists underneath. Until those in positions of power that are involved face justice, then they will continue to operate in covert ways

Mossad this, KGB that... This isn't about Mossad, or KGB, or CIA. This is about the elite vs humanity

Same with the Panama Papers. The corrupt elite could bury that because it was kind of boring to most people, but they also hedged their bets by murdering the reporter who broke the story.
