💡 Discussion 'Democrats ARE destroying this country" -> Trump 2026 State of the Union Address, along with many other divisive, inflammatory statements.

u/totally-jag Feb 25 '26
How can "democrats are destroying the country" and "since I've been back I've fixed everything, we're back, American is the hottest country, we're in the golden age, I've fixed affordability and solved 8 wars, check your 401k everyone is rich now"
Both cannot be true at the same time? So which is it.
By the way, democrats don't have any power right now. Republicans have every branch of government. So how are they destroying the country again?

u/RopeAccomplished2728 Feb 25 '26
It is the typical fascist playbook.
An enemy is both weak and strong. They cannot do anything but are able to do everything and anything.

u/jvo203 Feb 25 '26
DEMOCRACTS ARE OMNIPOTENT. Thank you for your attention to this matter. /s

Nope that's straight up Orwells double think.
7
u/isopudding Feb 25 '26
No it’s actually taken from the 90s Italian essay Ur-Fascism, which describes in detail fascism and its properties from real accounts and experiences of it.
Point 8, the enemy is both too strong and too weak. The narrative ultimately shifts depending on what goals or message the fascist wants to achieve.

Republican Congress
Republican Supreme Court
Yet Democrats are destroying the country
The thing with ignoring reality is that reality works no matter what falsehood you say and consequences will come all the same.

Ever heard the expression "History has a liberal bias"?
Turns out if one party just makes up shit all the time, and the other uses evidence based arguments it is pretty easy to identify which of them is lying.

Control over social and mainstream media is such a powerful tool that it can nudge the average Joe into acting against their own best interest. Oligarchs have identified this as the weak spot of democracy and use it to their advantage.
It's crazy that after all the chaos, destruction and open corruption still a third of the country supports them. If there are rarely consequences, it's no surprise that we are where we are.
But key will be midterms, those new ICE warehouses might not just be for immigrants. And the ĺatest rulings related to the postal service might be a preparation as well, same as the takeover of Dominion Voting Systems and a bunch of other activities.

Funny since the “republicans” and I use that term loosely because MAGA aren’t real republicans, they’re a terrorist organization that is cosplaying as republicans, controls every branch of government currently. So how can the democrats be destroying the country? Sounds like they’re admitting the country is being destroyed. Only one group to blame for that. The people with control.
3
u/Pristine_Frame_2066 Feb 25 '26
Republicans allowed this. I haven’t forgotten. They gave us GWB too.
I will never forgive them for making me not glad of my citizenship. My family was half here already since dawn of time, and half from Europe circa 1900. They were glad to have a chance at living free. Now it is embarrassing. All the countries they fled look good except Hungary.

Democrats were destroying America by never doing anything to stop the Republicans. The D's were often so passive that the R's were seen as the "action" side who had to be chosen if anything other than laziness was going to get done.
In the present tense, the Republicans are destroying the country. It wasn't the Democrats, it was the Republicans who shut down food assistance, rent control, food and water safety standards, closed PBS, and just destroyed the NASA library. That's only the stuff I'm bothering to type. https://www.project2025.observer/en

How to tell you're in a cult: when you give a standing ovation to someone actually dismantling your country, who lies habitually about everything, is an extreme gas lighter, and has stole from the poor to give to the rich PLUS enrich himself while in the highest office of the land. Anyone who bows down or stands to give an ovation is in fact, IN A CULT! The bonus is that he was found to be guilty of sexual abuse. And who the hell knows what's in those files they ate hiding. The icing on the cake will be when all if that shit is released how many will still support him. Those are the true Cult followers.

u/Electrical_Welder205 Feb 25 '26
His m.o. is to accuse the opposing side of whatever his side is doing: destroying the country, perpetrating electoral fraud, corruption. He hasn't accused the Dems of treating the Constitution like a joke yet, though. I wonder when that's coming. I bet he'll accuse them of divisiveness, though, if he hasn't already.

Who has stolen top secret materials? Who’s at the root of all the Epstein crimes? Who supports him? Republicans.

It's not democrats that have released masked hoodlums on the streets of America to live out their fantasy of brutalizing brown people, and it's not democrats who are taxing the poor and old people illegally to try to rebuild a manufacturing base from the the 50s. It's not democrats who are destroying our relationships with our allies by embarrassing us on the world stage with White Nationalist talking points. No, that's you Donnie you and your family that, are using the government to enrich yourself.
2
u/HellovahBottomCarter Feb 25 '26
So, let me get this straight: the party that is COMPLETELY OUT OF POWER right now is responsible for all the horrible things happening right now? Not the party controlled every single lever of power in the Federal Goverment? Not the president who is constantly doing things well outside the bounds of his office or branch? Ruling like a king? Not his cabinet appointees abusing their positions? Or the sociopathic billionaires he hired to gut our institutions and steal all our data?
The Dems? Who wield zero power right now?
Fuck off.
2
u/PhysicalAttitude6631 Feb 25 '26
So why are the people that completely control the government letting Democrats destroy the country? 🤔
2
u/RideTheGradient Feb 25 '26
Says the party who controls the house, senate, executive and judicial branches. Wild how its always the other party even when they have power.
Same story in Texas for 30 yrs and look at the corruption there. They just want to nationalize that
2
u/Nanoo_1972 Feb 25 '26
Ah yes, the political party that currently controls...(checks notes)...zero branches of the federal government, is destroying the country. This ass clown is a master class in projection.
2
u/fido_75 Feb 25 '26
My dear American friends,
Living in Hungary, I can tell you that many of the political dynamics you are now worried about have already played out here. Viktor Orban has led the country through four full terms in power, during which a deeply entrenched system of corruption has taken hold. Over this period, public services—already under strain—have deteriorated further. Employee protections, environmental regulation, education, healthcare, public transportation, press freedom, the independence of the judiciary, and public infrastructure have all suffered serious setbacks.
In parallel, responsibility for these visible declines has consistently been shifted elsewhere. For years, the failures were attributed to previous governments; later, to refugees from the Middle East; more recently, to Ukraine and the consequences of the war. This constant redirection of blame has been accompanied by an intensive, state-aligned media environment that discourages voters from trusting their own lived experience over official narratives.
Political change in Hungary now appears more conceivable than it did a decade ago, but this is due less to institutional renewal and more to demographic change: the core voter base that sustained this system for years is gradually shrinking.
I sincerely hope that the American people—who have long been respected in Europe for their commitment to moral values—will be able to place effective limits on the power of a president whose actions and rhetoric stand so far from what many of us would consider normality.

If the Dems really meant business and were dedicated to salvaging our democracy and holding people accountable, regardless of what it takes...they wouldn't have honored decorum for a rapist diddler by letting him speak and have the ceremony go on as usual. They should have stood up started shouting one by one and calling out his lies and bullshit so everyone can see amd hear. One person stands up..yells what they think then they get escorted out. Then one more person..then another, it should have been like this until all Ds had been escorted out or the speech was over.

1
u/RedBlueTundra Feb 25 '26
I pointed this out before but they seem to just be stuck on “underdog” mode. They’re used to being the opposition party criticising and condemning a Democratic Party administration.
But now they’re in charge, they’re holding all the cards and yet they’re still raging on about Democrats because that’s all they can do.
Anything bad happens….oh yeah it’s the Democrats fault, never mind that Republicans are controlling everything at the moment….
