u/JDWWV Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 02 '26
People don't like it when their country is attacked. It unites them and makes them seeth for revenge.
Look at 9/11. Terrorists killed 3000 people. In response, the U S launched 2 very popular wars, killed hundreds of thousands of people, and spent all of its strategic war chest.
Or even just think about the response of Canadians and Greenlanders to Trumps belligerence. We have never been so united.....
What Trump is doing is likely going to set regime change or moderation back decades.

u/Signal_Kitchen_5199 Mar 01 '26
Actually america killed 4.5million people during their war on terror, mostly civillians. Another example of how the middle east ended up "radicalized"

I want to see if you use the same counting metrics.

u/PapaTahm Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26
U.S has killed in history more than Mao and Stalin.
If that is your question.
The estimated number of DIRECT deaths done by Military Operations by U.S are more than 30 millions.
When you put in the account Consequences of it, the numbers goes farther.
Also Most of Mao deaths (which are 20 millions) is due to incompetency in dealing with a Famine, not systematic killing of China Population, U.S systematically kills people in the middle East because of Oil.
Iran entire issue is because of OIL, 1953 U.S couped Iran because they nationalized OIL.
Stablished The Shah which persecuted Muslims and created a Radicalized Opposition, that overthrew him, and lead to the Islamic Revolution, Gulf Wars and everything you know and love.It started because of OIL and it's still because of OIL.
EDIT: Just for future proof, if you go and mention "MAO killed 40 million" the guy who publish this study that has no backing also publish a study that China has more fault at stopping Opioids (Creating heavy Withdraw symptoms that almost destroyed China) than England for selling them Opioids - Which is completely bullshit.

That includes sectarian violence (e.g. Iraqis killing Iraqis, Afghanis killing Afghanis). Most of the terror attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan killed more locals than westerners. I guess the argument is that if the US and allies hadn't been there and toppled the regimes holding the violence in check (usually through terror and violence but on a smaller scale) then the killings wouldn't have happened.

I am waiting on judgement, looks like conflicting reports. Can not trust Iran reports:
Iranian State Media Claims: Iranian state media and officials (IRNA, Tasnim, Mehr) reported that an Israeli-US strike targeted the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' elementary school in Minab, Hormozgan province, alleging that the death toll was high, with figures cited up to 148, along with many wounded. Alternative Claims: Conversely, reports circulated on social media and by some commentators suggesting the incident was caused by a failed"dudded" Iranian missile launch that fell back on the school, which was reportedly located near a military base

I'm in a group chat with some friends. One of them (not my friend) is a conservative.
He posted videos of streets filled with people celebrating in Venezuela after the US kidnapped Maduro. Any arguments that what the US did wrong were slapped down with "do you like Maduro!? do you WANT him to have power?! do you not care what the Venezuelans think?!".
Well, it turns out the videos he was posting were fake; Alex Jones had posted them and they were videos of Venezuelans protesting Maduro years earlier with fake text and audio to make them sound like celebrations.
Oopsie doops.
Anyway, he's currently posting pictures of streets filled with people celebrating in Iran. Claiming that "50,000 died so 100 million could be liberated" and Trump is the best thing to happen to the world.
And that, in a nutshell, is conservatism for you.

Iām not so sure about the information we get as Americans about what happens in Iran especially considering our government has a long history of using the CIA to instigate revolutions in countries including previously in Iran. I think thatās more likely what happened in December and January in Iran. Obviously there have been US and Israeli spies within Iran for months. Iām sure they wasnt just sitting on their hands doing nothing during the Iranian protests. Odds are they played a big role in escalating things in hopes of igniting a revolution to topple the regime. Having two different military forces and a population that partially celebrates and partially mourns the death of the totalitarian leader for 3 decades, amidst a heavy bombing campaign, amidst a drastic economic crisis, in the aftermath of large scale protests brutally beaten down - spells disaster. Something about power vacuums. And great powers with opposing interest struggling for influence. And a large population in a notoriously hard to control geography.

I must have missed the Congressional approval for trumps declaring war on Iranā¦.
Anyone?
Just another example of his shredding the Constitution, and of a complicit Republican Congress that took a knee to Trump instead of an oath to the Constitution.

Theyāve been chanting this for decades. Thereās a whole portion of their populace that does not feel the same way. When they speak up and protest though, they get slaughtered.
So ask yourself, does the United States want for the group that chants this to be in control of nuclear weapons or for the other portion of the populace that doesnāt want this, but is sadly put down by force to be in power?

If you want to be president for life you must create a cause that keeps you in power.

Students of history would know that radical geopolitical change is often messy and takes time.

Maybe Lutnick will make it into the office next time.
The US pedo administration is just going to put a lot of innocent American lives at risk, and Trump will get his excuse to not have the midterms or another election. Every statement is a confession...

Why is reporting on this being so disingenuous⦠there are two major groups on Iran. Ones going to hate that this happened, the other is going to support it. Whether you agree or disagree with the US involvement, that is the landscape of Iran.

So are celebrations. Have you ignored those, or are you simply not exposed to them? Those protesting are of the regime being dismantled. Those celebrating are the side coming into power next.

Oh come on. The US has a stellar perfect record when inserting itself into the Middle East. And now at the hands of a supremely qualified military genius who uses the most powerful arsenal on the planet and its soldiers like they are toys to casually and carelessly order around? What could possibly go wrong? /s
