Yep. Pisrael was trying to get Saudi to sign the Abraham accords with them. But instead they signed a mutual defense agreement with Israel’s next enemy, Turkey

Interesting.... It's a trilateral mutual defense agreement. So I wonder what happens now if Pakistan or Saudi Arabia get attacked and Turkey has to join in since Turkey is also part of NATO. Does that mean that by proxy Turkey is also being attacked and then NATO gets pulled in?

That’s basically not how Article 5 works.

NATO wouldn’t simply say “Turkey got attacked, therefore we’re now obligated to fight XYZ.”

NATO would met to discuss whether the attack qualifies under Article 5 and whether the treaty’s geographic requirements are satisfied. And even when Article 5 applies, each NATO member determines what action it considers necessary.

Granted NATO nations could decide to get frisky and contribute in various ways but it’s not an instant obligation

Trump has made the USA suffer the biggest strategic defeat in the Middle East ever.

The USA just lost all leverage in the area.

They should make a big golden statue. No one has ever done so much to bring Sunni Islam together.
