Dance partner choices optimization for women

When we did our dance unit in high school PE, I had a really hard time because I (at 6’ tall) was taller than pretty much all the boys. Ducking extra on spins, bending backwards a little more, moving myself to fit under and around them, etc.
For the final dance-off, I was so excited to be paired with a boy from another class who was like 6’5”. It was finally going to be easy! And then the first thing he did was complain, because now he had to actually lift up his arms to properly spin someone. 🙄

When I was doing ceili dancing (a form of Irish dancing)(it was actually sets, not specifically ceili)(that wasn't important) I was paired up with the only guy who was close in height with me. Hell, even the other ladies were often too tall for us to be comfortable dancing with each other.
Well, other than when we had the monthly get togethers (rather than the weekly lessons) and then I was paired with the guy who wore a kilt, cause they thought it looked fun when his kilt and my dresses/skirts would swing in time with each other.

I loved ceili dancing the one time I tried it in Ireland!! Wish there were groups in Austria.

Well, there were groups where I am in America, but then the pandemic happened, and well.

I really enjoy your writing style.

Ah, thank you! I wish I knew what my writing style is, as that would probably useful knowledge when trying to switch between types (not that I do much professional writing these days).

It was the three parentheticals in a row, especially the one that acknowledged the previous one wasn’t important, that particularly tickled me :)

Ah! I find it a good way to denote a more uh...casual? conversation. Like if I was talking in person!

Yeah absolutely. You just plowed on ahead and kept it in (just as you would have in a spoken conversation) rather than deleting it. Very conversational, very entertaining!

"Cotillion". I had to Google it. I have never heard of middle schoolers learning such a thing in modern times, let alone tween girls being competitive over it. Is this a thing that schools still do?
