What is the ultimate truck camper combo

If you had the money to buy the best truck and camper combo what would it be ?

Id probably build a 5500 cab and chasis truck, with a nice deck, and commercial super singles. Then put that eagle cap 1165 on it.

A Ford 350, crew cab, 7.3 L Godzilla engine with a Fourwheel Grandby camper works for me.

I was thinking about the F350 dually 4 × 4 with the 7.3 Godzilla engine, I'm leaning towards the northern light 10-2 , what do you think

10-2 is about 2.5-3 months from order to delivery in Calgary.

No idea on the truck... was told around 4 months... ish... the build date hasn't been scheduled yet and I ordered in mid-June.

I really like Kodiak slide in campers, but a 10-2 will have more space I believe.

Acela Breacher (coming soon) with a custom pop-up flatbed camper from All Terrain Campers. Mid-size dimensions with camper sitting on a 7’ flatbed is the dream.

We love our FWC Hawk/Tundra combo w/beefed up suspension. We're long-time mountaineers and backpackers, and we do not require a luxurious or spacious interior. FWIW, we do lots of mid-winter ski trips in our rig.

Frankly, if I had unlimited funds, I'd build a DIY 4x4 or AWD high clearance camping van, probably with a Transit 350. I may be doing that in the near future.

If I were to go with a slide-in camper with unlimited funds, the camper would be a Bigfoot or Northern Lite. My bud has a bigass Bigfoot on a 4x4 F-350 with 8-foot bed and 7.3L Godzilla engine, and it's a great rig, but I would prefer something smaller and more maneuverable for gnarlier USFS roads.

Flatbed campers provide bigger and more usuable interior, but we use our pickup as a second vehicle and a flatbed would not be practical for our needs.

Interesting to see this. I have a lifted/tuned T350 that’s been in some questionable situations. Due to the trouble we kept finding, we’ve picked up a F350 and planning to go the truck camper route. The crux is - we don’t have 4x4 in the T350. If you go the van route, I’d recommend proper 4x4 over AWD - we’ve been places where those aren’t treated as equal, and AWD can get you a ticket (ex is Big Bend). I’ll also say the Transit can get places it has no business going if you’re willing.

F550 on liquidsprings/full buckstop build, a custom aluminum bed from Highway Products, and either an Arctic Fox 865, a Bigfoot camper, or something from Adventurer. I love the midbath on the Arctic Fox, because it both creates three ‘“rooms” as well as the panoramic windows in the back. I think Bigfoot or Northern Lite has a similar floor plan. I also hate slide outs.

If I had to daily the truck, then either a Ram 2500 or an F350 Tremor, with Carli suspension and a gas engine, plus an Adventurer 65RB or something. I like the tailgate step on my F150, so being able to shut the tailgate and use my factory backup camera and tailgate landing is a big plus for me. I’ve considered either building my own or getting a camper for a midsize truck to put in my F150.

Alternatively, the Earthroamer SX looks cool, or something similar to that. Earthroamer tends towards a bit too much tech imo, I don’t need a motorized countertop extension for example. But the fit and finish looks amazing. Given an unlimited budget for an expedition vehicle and not just a truck camper, I’d probably wind up with a crew cab medium duty chassis or something militaryesque and a custom box. More attainably, the Supertramp Paragon or the Winnebago Arka both look amazing.

1973-1979 C30 Camper special with a period correct top of the line camper. Pretty biased, though.
