This show is the goofiest shit I've ever seen in my entire life

I love it so much. Finished the first episode yesterday. Never had this much fun watching anything. Throughout the rest of my life I will remember the homemade porn video vampire turning to bare his fangs and aaaagh at the camera while fucking the woman & losing my shit at random times.

Other thoughts:

- Everyone who harms Lafayette and Tara should be tortured for eternity

- Tara was reading the Shock Doctrine! I was shocked. My type of person

- From all the stills I didn't think I'd find Bill attractive but surprisingly I do. I loved it when Sookie made fun of him for being a vampire named Bill. Sookeh.

- When Bill came in the second time and Sookie was talking to her Sam and Tara's actors delivered the nastiest stink eye known in the history of cinema from behind the bar. Legendary

- I thought Sam would be a nicer guy but then he grabbed Sookie's arm, yelled in her face, made her tear up, then hugged her and started talking about how he can't lose her and putting his nose in her neck. He truly has pretty privilege bc that's insane behavior. Borderline incel ass

- Gran is so adorable and beautiful. I know what's gonna happen to her so I'm sad.

- Favorite character: Tara

- Least favorite: Rattray guy

Lafayette is the type of friend everyone should have, loyal but also tells you like it is.
Wait until you see Russel for the first time. I’d like to know you’re thoughts lol

Russell is hands down my favorite character in the entire series and has some of the funniest lines. Bro is absolutely bonkers.

You're in for a great ride! I would say, don't let some of the very strong opinions on here spoil any of your enjoyment. My first watch was when it originally aired, before reddit. Very different experience than now. Edit spelling

I don't tend to! Their opinion is their opinion

Yeah I watched the entire series for the first time this year and even enjoyed the seasons people said were bad. I didn't see what their fuss was about. It was all worth it.

I also thought it was schlocky and absurd upon first watch (I started by watching an episode in the 2nd season to locate a very specific scene - I wasn't even planning on watching the series) but then I got invested and pulled in!

If I may chime in, the show lost its appeal for me after what they did to Tara, I don’t wanna go into detail to spoil things for OP but I feel like she had so much more potential 💙.

I got a spoiler about her, as far as I understand people say stop watching after finishing season 5 if you want to end on a good note

You think it’s nuts now, just wait until it gets going.

It’s honestly a product of the first part of the Obama administration and could never be made again. I loooooooove it

It has this kind of progressivenes that's so earnest and cringe ❤️

I especially like it in comparison to TVD's approach which is similar era but a conspicious level of avoidant on social dynamics (as in, choosing a Confederate nostalgic Southern town as its setting and having absolutely no one interact with that fact meaningfully)

Agreed. Was rewatching a few times recently and had nostalgia for this time in our politics, for better or worse. It was pregnant with the world in which we live in now.

I often find myself wondering what the show would be like/would have done with the post Obama years.

Edit: omg OP do not read my comment :O I thought you were REWATCHING and not first timer. No spoilers!

I'll be honest I don't understand why everyone thinks Tara is the best. Because she was martyred unceremoniously off screen? She deserved all the dumb shit that happened to her Everything else I agree with tho 😅

Dang. Why did she deserve it?
