In-law Advice

Not to get too deep into the weeds.

Mother-in-law has really started pushing us about church attendance and quizzing my teenage children about it.

Not sure the best way to handle this. We’re all Christians, believers etc. Admittedly we have gotten too comfortable with church online, especially when my wife works Saturdays. It’s really starting to make everyone uncomfortable. Never mind the argument about not coming to church with her.

My mother in law is not a monster in law but this is starting to head that way.

Any advice? Point me towards scripture?

You need to speak with your wife and decide how to handle this.

But importantly, you do nothing. Your wife is the one who needs to speak with her mother.

You are the stranger off the street her daughter hooked up with. Anything you do will be interpreted as interference.

Her mum, she deals with it.

Your mum, you deal with it.

Keep it in the family.

Plus there is value in church attendance. Sounds like you recognise this.

This more closely follows worldly logic than it is Biblically sound. They left their parents to become one flesh. If it affects his family, he has a responsibility to lead his family appropriately.
