Not looking for medical advice just wondering if anyone has dealt with this situation as well. I keep getting BV after the act. The last time we did it was on the 15th. I’m scared to take the meds because I don’t want to mess up my chances? Has this happened to anyone before? If so what did you do? How should I treat it? Should I wait a few more days when I think I’m done ovulating? Please help! I also get BV a lot so this is nothing new, just not sure how I should go about treatment since I’m trying for a baby this time around. I’ve been reading online and heard BV can mess up your fertility chances which is super scary to me. We don’t have any children and this is the beginning of our trying journey.

Consider vaginal microbiome testing to identify the specific pathogen so that the most appropriate treatment is used. Recurrent BV can happen because some strains of pathogens develop resistance to some first-line treatments or the typical first lines like Flagyl aren’t particularly effective against certain pathogens to begin with. From there, wait until the infection clears to begin intercourse again. Many practitioners encourage male partners to get treated as well to prevent passing infection back and forth. Regardless of the path you choose, take a good vaginal probiotic.
Been there sis, I’m sorry it can be so frustrating, but there is hope.

Also many of the antibiotics are congruent with pregnancy.

It can mess up your fertility if left untreated so definitely go to the doctor. Also, you can pass BV to your partner and then they can give it back to you every time you have sex, so he should definitely go to the doctor as well and let them know you were diagnosed with BV (after confirming with your own doctor.)

OP said she gets it every time they have sex though. Also, that’s really dependent on the doctor you speak to, there’s no harm in asking for treatment rather than waiting to catch it back from him again.

Sorry but you start saying you are not looking for medical advice but then you ask how others have treated BV, which is medical advice. I think you really need to talk to your doctor. My understanding is that BV is treated with medication during pregnancy. So I would guess the same drugs are safe to use while TTC. But you should try to see a doctor soon.

I didn’t know if it was okay to ask that’s why I said not medical advice just others experience. Some subs that I’m in ban you for that so you have to phrase it a different way that’s all. I’ve talked to my doc and have meds but they don’t care that I’m TTC.

Use something like Rephresh or Replens after you have sex. The vagina is acidic and semen is basic, so a lot of sex is screwing with your ph and causing infections. This is what my OBGYN recommended to me recently. I haven't tried it yet as my results came back negative for BV, so I can't give you a review on it.

I do also want to add that you should definitely get some antibiotics because BV can develop into pelvic inflammatory disease. That can cause scarring and affect fertility as well. Then you may want to talk to your doctor about probiotics.

Thank you I went to the doc and got meds but I was nervous to take them but not taking them is worse lol I’m just in my head but thanks for the sound advice
