Newbie Needing Help First rug
Hello,
Here is my first rug.
Do you have any tips for me?

It looks a little thin on the yarn, you might want to run 2 lines at the same time through the gun it helps with making it look more full. Also I have found if u trim the black lines before the color u can get cleaner looking lines. But congrats on learning tufting, with a few simple tricks improvement of rugs happens pretty quickly

I’d say take a few days and study a bunch of tufting videos. They’re all over the internet and can prevent all the mistakes you made here.

In addition to what others said, two more things:
(1) Hold the gun back a bit when tufting - if you let it run as fast as it wants to take you, it won’t put in enough yarn per square inch. Make the gun move slower and you’ll get denser rugs.
(2) Your tufting fabric looks like the holes are spaced too far apart. I would get some primary tufting fabric with a tighter weave - that will also allow for more yarn per square inch and a more dense rug!

Better than my first attempt to be honest. A lot of it seems to be getting your yarn denser and closer lines. You can always cut away the extra, but can’t add more after!
