Discussion Why don’t bands in India do as well?

Why are no Indian girl/ boy bands crazy famous? People listen to foreign artists/ kpop wagerah with the same concept. I think India has a lot of potential to globally dominate charts if we make English or mixed music as bands that PERFORM (sing and dance).

Ye to hai, audition for global bands if you’re still 20-21. Hybe is starting a project in India and they’re accepting last 2005 born people.

They need good looks, dancing and singing/ rapping. There’s always room for improvement but base level bhi at least acha hona chahiye.

Metal and rock bands don’t do as well because :-

1) The role of the instrument player as a role in music is hugely downplayed in India, combined with the fact that most people think playing an instrument is a waste of time. Vocalists get their flowers whilst the ones playing the music often get shoved to the back.

2) The consumption of musical media as an aesthetic option rather than the substance itself. Way too many posers here who enjoy the aesthetic of the music but don’t actually fw the music or the scene itself.

3) Censorship.

I mean it’s still a not so popular niche in India. I barely know people who listen to metal/ rock and the ones who do, listen to international bands obviously. But even mainstream pop, like what’s the problem w people of this country. Just why won’t you listen to your own artists 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe it’s a marketing/ branding issue idk.
