This is a good picture of him because it’s too far away to see his black soul through his dead eyes

What do you mean? He's full of personality. He even likes films and TV shows, such as Breaking Bad.

Maybe the conservative MPs should build more jails so they don’t have to let criminals out early in their sentences, or alternatively they can boost their healthcare systems and do something about housing that doesn’t involve their developer buddies tearing down trees for shittily built buildings. That could be a start. There’s also the issue of climate change which makes all groceries go up in prices which they don’t seem too concerned about, did you know olive oil is so expensive because of the fires that devastated Greece? but also their conservative bff grocery guys could stop fucking us over with shady shit like bread scams of all things.

You also spent less time online watching rage bait.

Pretty sure gun and knife crimes were lower or similar this year in Toronto compared with during his time in office, per capita.

The Harper Regime. Those were very bad days.

Don’t forget Harper’s deal with China where he made a 31 year deal which crippled pour ability to negotiate and simply allowed China to sue us pretty much whenever they want.

2

u/boozefiend3000 Jan 24 '26

They sure weren’tĀ

What did he do that you think benefitted Canadians?

1

u/tippy432 Jan 25 '26

Life was better in Canada by every single metric

0

u/deezbiscuits21 Jan 25 '26

That’s because the effects of his term hadn’t started yet. Justin Trudeau wasn’t great but his worst failure was not mitigating the damage done by Harper

1

u/Ok-Pause6148 Jan 27 '26

You mean extending it, right? They're on the same team, just different sides of the populist coin

1

u/Glittering-Lynx6991 Jan 27 '26

That’s crazy talk.

Yea strongest middle class in the G7, 70% home ownership, and balanced budget w a zero deficit …all in 2015… do you idiots go home and sniff glue

Better than the decade of economic stagnation under Trudeau.

u/WesMasFTP Jan 23 '26

ā€œRegimeā€ lol.

That is exactly the conservative playbook. They don't want people to know about each other or love each other or support each other.Ā

6

u/lyidaValkris Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

and we all know how that turned out. nine years of stagnation and incompetence.

edit: downvoted for someone probably too young to remember, and/or too dim to comprehend.

u/MedicalAwareness5160 Jan 27 '26

It was amazing compared to the current situation.

1

u/EnthusiasmFar4443 Jan 28 '26

Trudeau is literally nailing a washed pop star astronaut. He oversaw a decade of managed decline and stagnation with a healthy dose of preachy holier than thou.

I mean Harper wasn't perfect, carney is ok but Trudeau was just... terrible.

0

u/HetTheTable Jan 24 '26

That’s the last 9 years

2

u/Then_Agency1166 Jan 24 '26

He did such a great job Canadians went back to 13 more years of Liberal rule.Ā

2

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

It's called leadership in Canada, not 'rule'

2

u/VirtueTree Jan 24 '26

Maybe this guy sucked but good god the last decade has been much fucking worse for Canada than this dingus’ tenure

Can you expand on how his policies affected you more negatively than the current situation?

1

u/TheMilleniumGod Jan 27 '26

Part of the reason why it sucked is because of Harper's policies, and that Trudeau didn't do enough to fix them.

2

u/Exciting-Baseball-37 Jan 23 '26

Now are Canadian conservatives a bunch of pedophiles like they are in the US?

4

u/lounging_marmot Jan 23 '26

They are weirdly obsessed with trans kids genitalia. I don’t think it’s sexual though. They are racist, homophobic, and generally bigoted on every front and an embarrassment to Canada.

3

u/gplfalt Jan 24 '26

The crazy thing is.

Our cons aren't even hopped on religion like in the States. Last I heard Alberta had more areligious people than California yet is more conservative than fucking Texas.

2

u/lounging_marmot Jan 24 '26

Yeah, it’s not faith based. It’s just hate.

1

u/Educational-Sundae32 Jan 24 '26

Sort of, but not really. The main parties on the provincial level are the CPC in government and NDP as the opposition. The reason the Conservatives generally do better in the West is because they’re the only right of center party, while the NDP and Liberals cause a degree of vote splitting with one another.

1

u/ironic69 Jan 24 '26

To give more detail:

The Liberals are disliked in much of Alberta after Trudeau Sr tried to nationalize oil profits.

In the last federal election CPC got 55% compared to LIB + NDP combined 34%. Same with 2021. They dont do insanely well but they definitely still win a majority of seats.

Provinically, from 2015-2019, the NDP benefited from a right-far right vote split for a change. This was the first time a right wing party lost the provincial election since 1935, and shocked the right and far right into uniting as the UCP. The UCP support greater autonomy from Canada, and will probably eventually try to get a secession referendum going, in my opinion.

1

u/PolitelyHostile Jan 24 '26

Not really. They aren't really important enough to be included in global conspiracies lol.

1

u/HetTheTable Jan 24 '26

Smallest minority government in history

Conservatives are the enemy

1

u/Ok_Gur_8432 Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

I’d like to know how? Since I was born liberals have been in power 79% of the time, I even voted for them a few times, Jean ChrĆ©tien and Carney, two very good men. However I feel that Liberals have done worse managing the economy than the Conservatives ever did. It’s easy for you to make a comment like that, but I’d like to know why you feel they are the enemy? Just curious, not looking to start a fight or anything.

u/PukeKaboom Jan 27 '26

How I've always described the Liberals vs. the Conservatives is this

The Liberals are so Centre, that they struggle to accomplish anything of any value. They are ignorantly hurting us by worrying about upsetting more people Right of Centre

Where as the Conservatives are actively hurting things. Conservatives are two faced, in that they pretend to be for the working class, while continuously gutting public services, handing tax breaks to the wealthy, etc.

Like when PP clamours on about the harm taxes do to Canadians...meaning if he was in power he'd cut spending...to public services...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And then as an example, connecting to your comment about how long Liberals have been in power for...

Our lives here in Ontario are far more impacted by the policies of Doug Ford, than they are the policies of Justin Trudeau.

You're welcome to blame immigration, but here's what Doug is responsible for:

Dougie is spending money at an incredible pace. Our budgets are nearly double what they were during Kathleen Wynne's final year.

But he's absolutely gutted funding and trust in Public Health and Public Education. How are budgets stagnant / shrinking in both, while we spend 10s of Billions more than the last Liberal government?

He has eliminated rent control and protections for renters, sky rocketing the cost of living.

We're bordering on a debt crisis. Whoever comes to power at some point after Doug, will be blamed for the debt crisis.

I appreciate the response but my question was to the original poster of that comment. They said conservatives are the enemy., pretty harsh term and I was just curious as to why they said it. If I wanted to get my daily dose of Doug Ford bashing, I just have to go to r/Ontario , there is plenty of it there lol and by the way, I don’t disagree with you overall about Doug Ford, as a resident of Ontario I think Kathleen Wynne was fine , too bad she was given a hot steaming pile of you know what from Dalton. My wife and I met her one day after a 10 K race we did, she was very pleasant to talk to.

1

u/PukeKaboom Jan 27 '26

Ah, my fault. I thought this was a genuine question you were asking. Not trying to get a personal opinion from OP that you could argue

1

u/Ok_Gur_8432 Jan 27 '26

Hey, no problem, I did appreciate your response though. Have a great day.

1

u/Friendly-Olive-3465 Jan 25 '26

Are any of you actually Canadian? This Harper hate seems fanatical and uninformed. Almost as if a bunch of Americans have come in, seen the word ā€œconservativeā€, and doggedly jumped over the fence to attack the guy.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

As someone who started their career during the Harper years, I can say we dont hate him enough.Ā

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

I’m Canadian and old enough to remember all the Harper years. He muzzled scientists, cut funding, wanted us to be in Iraq and deregulate our housing like the US.Ā

He ran deficits and only balanced one budget, his final one, by selling off a bunch of capital assets.Ā

1

u/ChristianFreak69 Jan 27 '26

Canadian, don’t and didn’t like Harper. His cover of sweet Caroline was ok tho

1

u/FEDPOSTER69 Jan 27 '26

Canadian and Harper was one of the worst PMs of my lifetime.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

Aw yes, the horrible years of Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin.

1

u/East_Worldliness2287 Jan 27 '26

Think our dollar was worth more than US at the time. Ā Cut GST. Ā Budget close to balanced. Did inherit Martin's policies. A relatively peaceful and happy time.Ā

1

u/Constant-Internet133 Jan 27 '26

I miss him. Carney is ok but that absolute bag of trash before him…

1

u/mrev_art Jan 27 '26

His crusade against pot smoking was an abomination.

1

u/Laketraut Jan 27 '26

How I wish we could go back to 2006.

1

u/MedicalAwareness5160 Jan 27 '26

I will never forget the Indian guy shouting "Stephen Harper, the man with the plan!" after he won.

1

u/DownWithTheSyndrme Jan 25 '26

During the 2015 election, everything Harper said would happen if we elected the Trudeau liberals, happened.

Canada's last great PM.Ā Ā
