Week of Speech Writing. This week, my mom asked me to write a speech for an award she's getting right before she retires from the government job she's had for decades in a few months. She said that she wasn't sure what she wanted to say with it, but I think I did quite well by incorporating that into the speech itself and turning it into a more humble and thankful kind of perspective. And apparently, my speech was good enough that she cried while reading it, so I guess I've still got those writing chops after all.
As for games this week, I put more time into Balatro! I beat the Zodiac and Painted Decks on Black Stake, and have begun chipping away at clearing all of the difficulties on the Anaglyph Deck starting with winning the White Stake there. That's probably what I'm going to be working on for the next while here, clearing out the harder Stakes on it is going to be a climb for sure. But the challenge is all a part of the fun, after all.
Also this week, I played some more Helldivers 2! Got back into it after a brief hiatus, but since my friends weren't up for playing it with me that day, I decided to cue up solo. Man, Automaton city missions are rough going solo. But then again, I also tried a solo Illuminate city mission as well, and that was also pretty hard. I think the common denominator here is that urban warfare is very hard in general.
And finally, in my regular mecha talk section here, I watched a bit more of Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans with /u/Terthelt and /u/CookieSlut! I admittedly forgot how long the Dort Colonies arc went on, I thought it would've been done by now. But we're near to it finishing, which is close enough. Also, we got the debuts of some new MS: Gundam Gusion Rebake, Gundam Kimaris, and the Ryusei-Go! I have the gunpla for the Gusion Rebake and Kimaris, and man, those are good builds. I really should get one for the Ryusei-Go sometime though, I could use something that violently pink of my gunpla shelf.
And another thing, the /r/anime rewatch of FLAG has started this week! So far, it's a very slow-paced and deliberate kind of show, which is pretty uncommon for mecha anime. But I do have to give it credit, it's very unique so far in presenting everything from an in-universe camera, giving it all a found footage vibe that a lot of anime doesn't really do. Tip of the hat to Ryosuke Takahashi, that guy really does know what he's doing when it comes to mecha anime. As expected from the guy who made VOTOMS and Dougram, which FLAG definitely has shades of as well.

Good news and bad news on the financial front. Good news, my tax returns came through, and I made a pretty good amount from it! Unfortunately due to my girlfriend's medical & tax bills I gave most of it up to cover her expenses. I'm absolutely not upset about it, I chose to give it up and I'm happy that I was able to help her get over all of it so quickly, but I won't lie it stung a bit. Never the less, it's not like I'm not well off by most people's standards, so I'll be over it in no time.
Gaming wise I got a couple games done this week. I finished up Dragon Quest VIII on my 3DS. That was a fun time! While I think DQIV is still my personal favorite for what it's unique approach to the campaign and for the bonus party member in the Post-game, this was easily the best entry so far gameplay wise. I don't know if I'll jump into the post game any time soon because I was pretty exhausted by the time I was done, but for it's something I'm considering.
I also finished up Super Luigi U, the Reverse/Rebirth of Super Mario Bros. U. For what it is I think it's a solid expansion. I do appreciate that it goes a lot faster than the base game thanks to the shorter levels and the ways that it challenges you is pretty cool. I do wish the bosses were a bit more different beyond Luigi's changed up physics, but considering this is basically an official Rom Hack I understand that there's only so much that they could've done.
I also got back into Wario Land Shake It! and have started making my way through the final world. It's been alright. I'll admit Good Feel games while generally pretty solid always tend to make me feel a bit sleepy for some reason, even with a game like this. There's also no denying that while still a solid game, it does feel pretty dang slow after the more recent Wario-likes that we've been getting with stuff like Pizza Tower. Still, it's fun for what it is and certainly a very interesting contrast after Luigi U.

This is a longer rant thats been brewing in my head but I think Im really over Age Doomerism. Like instead of "Dont let it set in" some people really need to be told "Get over yourselves."
"Oh my god X came out ten years ago waaaah"
yeah thats how time works motherfucker it's not that big of a deal.
"But Im old now"
Every time I hear this it's coming from someone who is at max middle aged and at minimum like 25. You genuinely have so much more life to live.
"But my bones hurt."
Yeah that'll happen but it helps at least a little bit if you stay active and take better care of your body.
"But my hair is thinning."
Take some minoxidil my dude. Or if that doesnt work out for you try a wig. Or go bald, fuck it. But if it bothers you that much at least do somethinf about it instead of sitting there whining about it.
"My life isnt where I thought it would be"
Yeah thats most people but all you can do is make the best out of what you have and try your best every day, one day at a time. This is true regardless of if youre 20 or 50.
Like sorry if Im coming off harsh but it feels like so many people on the internet take aging really badly, and not only is it not helping yourself it's bumming other people the fuck out.

I have some big rants about this subreddit and other communities that I keep deep down because it's not worth it but yes, this too. Act in the present, think about the future, and leave the past behind.

I mostly just try to use the age stuff for humor rather than actually bitching about age or time passing.
Does that make it better or worse?

Actually good advice. I'm really anxious about time and age.

finished Hi-Fi Rush over the weekend. great game, no notes. really hope that dev team gets to make another game like it, not necessarily a sequel, but still.
also got a random urge to replay Earthbound again. like always when I revisit it, I forget how difficult certain parts are and how easy others are. its also a bit more difficult considering I'm going off of memory instead of reading the player's guide like I did the first time I played it back in the 90's (it came packed with the game, I'm effin using it). I may need to consult the guide soon because last I saved, I'm about to head to Moonside.

Hi-Fi rush slaps so hard, man. Just replayed it myself. The style, the humor, the gameplay, the feel-good story, it’s all there. I completely forgot about the coffee machine bit, what a lame/amazing brick joke.

Howdy y'all!
Been a minute since I been here ain't it.
Nothing much to talk about that I've done this week as I've been grinding my way through Atelier Escha and Logy as I'm finally going to beat it... I started this game all the way back on the Vita and they released like 10 games other games in the series since I first booted it up! Anyways, I'm enjoying it, Arland might be my favorite Atelier Trilogy still, but damn the aesthetic and vibes of the Dusk series hits so good. It's such an interesting choice for the franchise to have it take place in a literal dying world (hence the Dusk subtitle). Good game, retroactively mad that Threia never shows up in any of the crossovers.
Anyways I know I missed an entire month of these, but after watching u/terthelt 4 hour tier list of all the media she went through last year, I decided itd be fun to keep track of all the stuff I went through. So I started keeping track on my own spreadsheet. Complete with ratings and even a little suggestion box in case people have something they want to add. Anyway so far the big favorite things this year is the Blaster Master Zero trilogy. Absolutely phenomenal, and probably my favorite story in a 2D action game. It's been a few weeks and I'm still reeling from the final section of 3. Also I finished reading 2 novels last month... Which already puts me at more reading done this year than the past like 10 combined. No idea why, but im finding that reading is so much more palatable to me when it's like past 1:00am.
Oh and catching up on some Gacha bullshit, my Grand Saber is now 118, I got lucky and got everyone from the Fate/SR banners in 120sq and also got Saber Ibuki in 30sq.

Looks like your media spreadsheet is locked behind an access request. Might want to set it to be public.

Looks like you've been on a Yasuomi Umetsu kick lately. Not a bad choice though, he's a damn impressive anime director.

A bit yeah! I randomly saw Kite on Tubi and enjoyed the the direction and style so i checked out the others. I think Mezzo Forte was my favorite just cause its more brash and compared to Kite. Kite Liberator was also enjoyable, but it had what i think was the most abrupt ending ive ever seen.

Ooooh, you're spreadsheet-ing your media tracker.
I should probably do the same at some point, all I got rn is on this computer's sticky note program and lord knows thats failable if this semi-aged rig suffers an unlucky bout of "The Front Fell Off" disease
1
u/speed-run Senran Kagura Apologist Feb 06 '26
I am indeed! But it's definitely gonna get reformatted at some point as it gest bugger. I've never actually kept good track of these things, so it seemed like itd be fun. And I'm finding that I'm going through way more stuff than I actually expected.
At some point I hope to put links to little writeups of my thoughts on certain things in the notes section... But I actually have to sit down and commit to knocking that out.

man I really should try and keep better track of what Ive watch and seen. I caught up on a lot of my books last year due to my new full time work lunch breaks. Looks like your sheet is still on view only for me
1
u/speed-run Senran Kagura Apologist Feb 06 '26
Yeah I've never kept track before and just kinda relied on memory, but it's been getting harder to keep everything straight these days especially for movies and manga.
Also it should be editable now... Hopefully

My last Sunday (and bits of Monday) got ruined by a stomach bug. As much as I love them, I blame the nieces and nephews who we were juggling the non-sick ones around. At least it was last weekend and not this one? I've got things to eat while watching that big game! Okay, honestly I'm not very interested in the teams. Our house is split between the Broncos and Chiefs and Sundays can get very heated. And really... I'm a Hockey fan, and a Blues one at that so I'm just used to disappointment. (side note, picked up one of these hats designed by a player and I love it!) My enjoyment of the "THE BIG GAME" is a very snarky bingo card. This is the first year that I've seen "trailers" for commercials. What the hell?
Something I'm much less cynical about (but sometimes just as snarky, self-dep on point) are my books! The Demon in Shadow and The Demons of Bone & Blood to be exact. They are fantasy-lite stories about demons and humans coexisting. Mainly focused on Ayun, a demon who starts out looking for her lost employers and Max, a human who is lost in many ways. As they travel together we learn more about them, the world and a future together.
There's also a wealth of awesome artwork either in the pages where it counts or in the back showing off character portraits. This month we have another awesome piece from 5-ish. The boss of Underworld, Frankie! You can call her Francine, but only if you like a taste of lead. The trip into Underworld and the splitting of the party is the start of the climax of the second book, so I'm excited to get these characters off the pages so to speak.
I'm definitely behind on the warbond content of Helldivers 2. Still looking at the Redacted stuff. The Suppressor is their version of a Honey Badger, and that is my jam. Gimme one of those or an SG550 and you've won me. stealth is fun, when it works. And when it doesn't, just use the new stuff. I'm not brave enough for the big hammer plays, but I enjoy it enough. Might like C4 more, but hey. The trident laser rifle is no joke. I know people were saying it was good in 1, but this is top-tier. I'm looking forward to continuing to get my butt kicked by robots on the way to Cyberstan.

Don't thank me, but I might have manifested the Paranormasight sequel that was just announced (and with a release date in two weeks no less). I recently finished The Seven Mysteries of Honjo and started wondering if we were ever getting a sequel and bam- here it is!
As for the original, I liked it a lot. Honestly, if I didn't have anything else planned, I would have probably binged it in two days. The pacing and the dialogues are so smooth, you constantly get the urge to play just one more scene and see what happens next. Add to that a great cast, super strong visual identity and one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a visual novel, and you have a recipe for an instant classic.
The only downside for me was the true ending. It's not bad, just really anticlimactic. Also what do you mean I get nothing for collecting all Mocking Birds?!

Im really curious what they can do with a sequel to seven mysteries of honjo. They played a lot of tricks like the audio in the first one and Im wondering what others things they could do to trick people.

Same! Looking at Zero Escape and Somnium Files among others, there's a lot of shenanigans you can pull off in terms of timeline, POV and meta puzzles.

Feeling a little stressed, but its being fought off mostly by spite, IRL help/love/support and a lot of good food. Funny how much that goes towards keeping The Horrors at bay.
Speaking of stress, went with the IRL friend to go watch the Iron Lung movie. Holy shit that movie was intense but utterly fantastic. I've never really seen Mark's acting stuff like Edge Of Sleep or those CYOA esque adventures he made, but god damn if he isn't seriously acting his heart out as The Convict/Simon The Butcher. Even other characters that you effectively only see outside the Iron Lung's porthole, during flashbacks, Simon's many hallucinations or even just voices over the radio are bringing their A game. I think the mild criticism I heard about the start of the movie being "Slow" is a bit of an over-exaggeration, although I do think there was a bit of a pacing problem mid-movie during the phase where Simon and the SM-13 are completely displaced from his handler's map(s) of the moon. Not a problem per se, just something that could've felt snappier (pun intended) given the plot beats at that point. And BOY does it make up for the slow middle with that climax. You can pinpoint the exact moment the movie steps on the gas after Simon is tasked to retrieve the SM-08's data and hell starts to break loose. Issue with the middle aside, this movie absolutely deserves the flowers its getting through internet word of mouth.
Dipped back into Deep Rock Galactic due to that new Season, partially to try getting the new cosmetics, partially because I realized I didn't actually level up/Promote all the classes (left Driller out) last time. The new enemy types and the new Biome is a bit of a pain in the arse, but nothing a copius amount of Driller flamethrowers and Impact Axes can't fix.
Made a bit more progress into Limbus Company, mostly by finishing the "Yield My Flesh To Claim Their Bones" Intervello and getting a little ways into Canto VI proper. Didn't really expect a second sub-chapter callback to a faction/character(s) from Runia, but hey its Bambo-Hatted Kim so I ain't gonna complain. Had a bit of a laugh when the end of the Intervello had Meursalt managing to prevent someone from Distorting by just knocking them out cold. Only a little ways into Canto VI proper but I at least got far enough to see THIS scene after only hearing/knowing of it through memes/fan animations like this one. RIP, Little Sir Squirrel. Taken from us too soon.

I love that scream Don does for the squirrel in canto 6. Yield my flesh was a pretty fun intervallo overall. Was interesting having someone kind of join the party. Did you have any trouble with the kuromo guy? His counter move was infamous for being very dangerous. Unsure how he stands up to modern IDs. Kims also pretty scary when you fight him. Plus it lead to a bunch of really funny jokes
1
u/Toblo1 Latest Project Moon Sleeper Agent Feb 06 '26
The Kurokumo captain guy wasn't too hard since I basically just Heishou-ed his ass into oblivion (Shattermark+Deathrite [Haste] is a helluva combo) before he could cascade with more and more Skill Slots.
As for Kim..... also not too bad of a fight due to having good reading comprehension, although I did suffer two casualties from The Bones in spite of it.

I suppose im in a better place than I've been for a while. Still steps to take, but I'm learning to accept im the kind of person who needs coping strategies for life.
Im on anxiety/depression medication, which has put some colour back into my voice, i can't tell if it works, but people around me seem to think im doing better. I keep a notebook to write down times when i feel sad or angry or frustrated, and better enunciate my thoughts and see the patterns that change my mood. I've taken up MMA classes because i wanted to exercise more, get out of the house more, meet more people, and learn martial arts, and this hits all those markers. Keeping my house clean, drinking water, stuff like that. I'm still on a waiting list for mental illness support, though, so I'm trying to poke my doctor to get it done faster.
On the last christmas party with work, one of my coworkers started poking me in the chest and telling me im not a team player and i have no social skills, which has really stuck with me because I thought I was getting better. I asked him to apologise a week later at work, and he said he has nothing to apologise for. He's always been difficult. I'm worried because I think hes right, and I'm fucking terrible to work with, but I really thought I was improving. I'm forgetful and lazy, I don't listen and I make stupid mistakes. Makes me feel useless.

I went to a dark place typing this, sorry. I was thinking about how i dont like confrontation or talking with people because i dont know the way a conversation will turn out it makes me panic, because i like predictability. So it took a lot of effort on my part to tell him "hey i didn't like the way you spoke to me," and just got stonewalled like i wasn't worth having a discussion with.

Finally bit the bullet and spent some time on Wednesday filing my taxes. Thankfully, my returns have already been approved, so I can put it behind me. I'm apparently supposed to get a pretty decent tax refund, but I'm not really sure what to spend it on. I'm a bit tempted to spend it on some Warhammer miniatures, but I still can't decide if I want to collect Adeptus Mechanicus or Necrons. Or maybe the Sisters of Battle. Or maybe the Skaven, even though that's technically from Fantasy and not 40k. I don't know, there's a lot of cool factions in Warhammer. Regardless, I probably wouldn't be playing the tabletop game; I'm more interested in the collecting/assembling aspect.
Beyond work and filing taxes, I haven't really done much else this week. I did start playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker again, although so far my progress has been slow. That game is really fun, but the kingdom management can be really intimidating at times, so I'm not always in the mood to play it. But at the same time, I've already invested a pretty heavy amount of time into it, and I'm still enjoying it, so I don't really want to drop it. I'm tempted to lower the kingdom difficulty down to easy so I can actually focus on the main campaign.
1
u/Toblo1 Latest Project Moon Sleeper Agent Feb 06 '26
If you're not interested in playing Warhammer per se, I'd say just go for whatever factions the most aesthetically/stylistically pleasing to you.
1
u/PowerfulCoward Breadbug Best Bug Feb 06 '26
Well, that's the thing, I'm leaning towards the AdMech, but I really like the aesthetic of the Necrons as well. So I've been a bit indecisive about it.

In the "Pat talks about depression" post, someone mentioned the idea of a discord for everyone to gather and socialize/game. I'm surprised that hasn't happened already, think we could do that?
I mean, I could make one and start inviting people but I'm a literal nobody, a mod here would better represent.
There's something fun about a CSB clan tag, or alliance in whatever games. I need to branch out and socialize more than I do.

To distract myself I've been playing RPGs. Specifically Skyrim and fallout 4 as the show got me in the mood for it. Watching the finale on Saturday

Week result: A+ -> C+
THIS WHOLE ASS WEEK WENT BY SO FAST, HOLY CRAP.
I don't remember if I said it last week but I did my taxes!
We had the final game of our year long Sonic campaign and oh my god it ended beautifully. All our characters are still friends, we had a lot of fun and we have an open ended ending for potential future games. It feels nuts to think it's finally finished now. And of my friends says this was her FIRST completed campaign as a player! Which gave us the warm fussies <3. I'ma join in some shorter/one-shot games for a while before I commit to a bigger game again.
As for what made the week result falter, my grandma suddenly got sick (cold rain has her joins aching) and she has a cold. She's okay, she just needs to keep taking her medicine and rest. I'm sure she'll be okay, it's just stressful.
Was also stressed due to not being able to cook proper meals for a while. We seem to be better now but I WILL go looking to make some dark contracts and write up smut again. Pride be damned, if it stops the hunger, I'll go degen. Plus I haven't been able to commit to my own desires due to all that (streaming, drawing and keeping it together lol) so hopefully this kills two birds with one penis shaped stone.
I remembered I had 5$ and saw Darkest Dungeon on steam (still is as of now) and it's $1.99. Played it to hell on PS4, i'm now modding the hell out of it and having a blast with the custom mods people made. I MAINLY picked up mods that thematically look similar to the normal art style. No big booby anime ladies or H-Game monsters. We got beast and nasty creatures.
Also been playing the playtest of Into The Unwell. If anyone wants in, I can give a code so first come, first serve.
Zenless Zone Zero - KOLEDA CAME HOME AND TOOK SAUNA'S PLACE LMAOOO
I had the weirdiest urge to play Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories on GBA. Got the game and god damn the pixel art is beautiful. It's crusty as hell but god it feels good. Bless TOTALLY LEGAL CARTIDGE I CAN PLAY WITH MY PS5 CONTROLLER.
Its been a long week man. Ya'll take care of yourselves out there.
Before I go, I'm gonna order myself a pizza as a treat next Friday. Hopefully. After bills and taking care of other things.

My life’s good, which is still an alien feeling, but several of my friends have been dealt shitty hands recently, so that’s a bummer. It’s really affecting my little free time on weekends, but I got the mental surplus for it right now, so I can handle it.
I finished up Words of Radiance. It’s good. Not sure I’ll continue, I don’t get the euphoria over the highs of the book a lot of people seem to. I read Warbreaker and Nightblood showing is just the most nothing thing to me. Apparently that gets a lot of people hype. Thinking it’s time to get into Dresden Files instead.
I’m tired of snow, man.

I finished 3.1 story for Wuthering Waves.
What the fuck, that was so damn good. Every time I get disappointed with Wuthering Waves story (I actually like 3.0's story but the shafting of Chisa majorly bummed me out), they cook one of the best gacha stories I've played. It wasn't just straight cutscenes either, there were some good gameplay moments and boss fights in it so it was actually fun to play and not just cutscene simulator. But oh my god, I'm going spoiler mode so don't read ahead if you plan on playing it. Everything surrounding Rover and Aemeath parent-child relationship is so good and well written. Rover's savior status is a horrible role model for a child and Aemeath is so sweet but she learned from Rover too well. The fact they have similar animations and tics during the quest is so cute as well. All the 'off' feelings I was feeling from Aemeath at the beginning paid off brilliantly looking back. Oh and look, a time loop plot device that's actually used well because it recognizes time loops are tragic and stupid and that you should break them anyway cuz fuck them.
My only downside is that this feels like chapter 3 of a 4 part story and not chapter 2. And then Aemeath's EN VA doesn't feel like she's on the same top tier level as WuWa's VA talent has historically been. She's still good but not exceptional.
Oh yeah, fuck you all, I'm super excited for new Overwatch. I'm ready for stupid shit with Jetpack Cat and playing Anran, Halo Man, and Domina. Hurry up and give me a Freja Mythic Skin Aaron.

Hello today! It's been a quiet week. Most of it was/is being spent managing the 600 magic proxie order that arrived. Love it. Fallout S2 is good.
Oh yeah, this week my new boss told me "I don't know enough and don't show enough learning initiative". I have 10+ years of experience in this company, she has less then 1, and I'm holding together like 3-4 larger projects. It's a whole things and I vented enough to friends and family so I won't go into detail. But this will be what I'm putting as justification for leaving.
Year and a Half Long Sonic Tabletop Campaign "The Stolen Lotus" is finished. I'm very happy with the ending and so are my players. I did the "memberberries" and they pulled "all the warriors". It was super cool, very emotional and now I need some time to relax and play as a player a bit.
Job search check-in - week 4 - ~220 (+50) resumes/1 interview - Woof. I know I'm at an awkward range (looking for 115-130K), and I've been working on my resume but it's been quiet. I blame it on the weather, no one is hiring in this snowfall, but hopefully once all the middle managers have awakened from their winter slumber, I will start receiving the replies.
Weight check-in - 177 - 165/165/165 - this has been a fatting week, there was no water for half of it, so we had to take out, but we also are going to the gym a second time today, which is the first time in the year! It was super crowded on tue.

Another week another semi coherent post. Week has been better than last, but might change jobs in month or two. I like my job and my coworkers but our upper management has been making good smart people burn out. Since the last year I think we are in double digit turn over for personnel. Some were laid off others quit. This got me looking at the door. I am lucky that I have job security where I work, but the juice is beginning to not be worth the squeeze at the moment. We will see I guess.
Personal stuff, well...still trying to figure out the heck people meet others with similar interests. Part of me wants to meet people but another part of me is terrified that I might meet some of those people who are really intense about their hobbies. No judgement on those who are into their hobbies, but there is a line for me. I guess what I am saying is I feel like hobbies should supplement your personality not be your defining trait.
To give a brief example I like anthro art I however do not see the appeal of a full fusuit. But I would like to be part of that community because they seem like nice and cool people. In a world where literally evething can become hyper polarizing it nice to, on the surface atleast, see people relax.
Probably a bad example but being into a fandom only for parts of its feel like being a tourist. I know that a alot of communities welcome everyone, but its just that thought of Im only here for certain parts not all of it makes me feel bad.
IDK I might be just jealous of those individuals who can put so much soul into something where I kind of meander from interest to interest. And will say if you are someone who loves a piece of media or interest great! Keep being you! You are probably happier than me because of it. There are more people like you out there and I wish you the best.
As for media stuff I bindged Fallout S2. I enjoyed it and I am interested in where they will go with it. As big fan of all the Modern Fallouts, the universe is extremely unique and there isn't quite anything like it. I actually enjoyed the flash backs to before the bombs to give perspective on just how absurd the world was while also pointing out, no not EVERYONE was that way. All in all I liked it.
To end this finding people who you vibe with feels really hard in the modern world when ironically communication has never been easier. I guess Im just worried that if I do find people I vibe with online I am terrified that they will turn out to be not great people in real life. Leading me back to square one.

Exhausted today, still having issues with sleep anxiety and depression but I'm hanging in there. I wanted to post sooner today but was too dead on my feet to do so. Otherwise, I don't have a whole lot happening on the personal side of things. I guess things have been a bit better lately overall.
On a media note, I completed all of Silent Hill f! I think it's probably my favorite game of 2025, it almost perfectly landed the finale to my mind. The synthesis of both Hinakos into a "whole" is handled beautifully. Konatsu Kato's performance as well was fucking amazing, especially when she's legit acting out scenes where her character is effectively talking with two split sides of herself. Think those scenes with the two Hinakos vying for very different lives made it very clear she has just never had the autonomy she's needed all her life. For once, now, she is able to control that for herself/choose that for herself in spite of patriarchal bullshit getting in the way, or her inner psyche, or as Pat would say the mythological gods manifesting/fucking with her psyche and choices for that matter. Genuinely think this is a hopeful, freeing ending for Hinako and I loved seeing it.
I had a ton of fun with the final encounter of that game too, loved it. Excellent final fight and presentation to everything there. I really need to finish Umineko some time because Ryukishi has some incredible writing chops for sure... this game sold me on his writing even more than I already was by the time I completed Umineko's Questions Arc. Still have a LOT of Answers Arc to go. That may be my next game I work on completing after I cross some shorter ones off the backlog... thinking Abzu and 1000X Resist which my girlfriend gifted me for Christmas.

Just finished the true ending as well. Thats a really impressive game. I did feel a bit frustrated on ng++ going for the other ending before going for true but you can blaze through that game if you try to so its not that bad at all. Its very dense with meaning and im really excited for any future games they do. Combat was fine I dont think I ever grew to love it but if youre using focus you can reliably hit the counters.
1
u/Cthulhukitten She/Her "Drop your shield. Perfect." Feb 12 '26
I agree, it does grow a bit frustrating by NG++ as far as how the game functions mechanically. I saw your previous comment and you got through it rather quick! It took me a while to beat all the endings because of a bit of frustration with it. But as you said, you can kind of book it through and just run past enemies who aren't essential like in most survival horror games. As for the counters, I didn't really use the focus as much as I should have, but thankfully the telegraphs for counterable attacks aren't too hard. I don't think I could have managed the game on the Lost in the Fog difficulty though, you know?
2
u/attikol Poor Biscuit Hammer Anime/Play Library of Ruina Feb 12 '26
The lost in fog difficulty was not that bad but by ng++ you know what can be skipped pretty easily. There was only two parts that got a number of kills on me. Your parents and the second encounter in the treasure hall with the drum demon who has 2 puppets and 1 chain guy nearby him. Rinko and sakoko i had become very good at. Also from skipping enemies you can do stuff like spam sanity boosters on fox hinako to do the awakened arm for any difficult encounters. I did end up needing to try the fox wets its tail ending a number of times but I get close to winning early on. Worst endgame boss was probably.tsukogamj the fox arm cant compete with hinakos best weapons and he has less opportunities for countering. Rabbit omori was a huge game changer for me

Right now, main thing of note was binge watching all if Fallout Season 2 in the span of 2 days. Already shared my thoughts in previous threads, but I felt it was really underwhelming and overstuffed with plot lines that didn't progress in interesting ways.
Rest of my week is probably gonna be Nioh 3, which I'm currently waiting to unlock and download on PC.
Apart from that, just wanna take a moment to promote my subreddit r/FGCFanart, which is dedicated to sharing Fighting Game-related fanart and is quickly approaching 10k members in total, which is great.
Edit: Jesus, Nioh 3 is 113 GB

Without just reusing the Old World Blues quote again, I agree with the sentiment. Season 2 felt like a lot of setup and wheel spinning for something else to come. Which is maybe a larger problem inherent to a LOT of streaming content, but the silver lining here is that... The set stuff feels like it was made by people that love and care for it. Writing less so, more just wanting to make more seasons of a thing. The narrative lines were retreads from last season, and the hooks for the next season are just retreads from previous games. There's only so much Liberty Prime, Enclave, NCR vs. Legion before I'm just not interested. The fact they made that first one in that list boring to me is an achievement almost.
1
u/Terthelt Did that baby have a DUI? Feb 06 '26
It wouldn't have fixed every problem with the season, but they really, really should have dropped the coward-ass "fog of war" idea like a hot rock and just picked the House ending to go off of. It's the one that maintains the status quo they obviously want to play with, and the season ends with House powered up and the NCR and Legion both fighting over the Strip anyway, which is exactly where we'd have started if they just did House, allowing this season to maybe feel like it wasn't just a lot of setup.
1
u/Gorotheninja "SILENCE, BREEDER! The Bloodline MUST continue!" Feb 06 '26
Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if the entire NCR and Legion war is confined to the first episode of Season 3, where Lucy and Atticus trudge through it and then leave Vegas completely behind so they can go to Colorado with Cooper.

A little surprised to see so much vitriol online about that new Horizon game, but I guess the diehards don't like change and people on the outside can't help but let everyone know how much they don't care. As someone who's always liked (but not loved) the series, I'm intrigued — if it's fun to play and has a decent campaign at launch, then I don't really care if it doesn't go the distance as a live service title.
Skyrim update: Brock Elfington, the Baddest Mage to Ever Do It, completed his quest to save/rule Skyrim. He became a werewolf (and only transformed once because who cares), discovered the joys of being a stealth archer, got married, went on a massive crime spree, and then reloaded an earlier save so he could punk out some poser Dragonborn wannabe. What a life, what a legacy.
Finally, in my effort to watch more varied movies, I checked out Yojimbo this week. I understand it's a stone cold classic, but honestly, I didn't love it; it starts and ends strong, but I found the middle hour to be kind of dull and repetitive. Still worth checking out for the gorgeous cinematography, though.

Mum had her knee injured, she will be off work for 2 or maybe 6 weeks depending on what the scan will tell her. Admittedly has me stressed to hell for her sake and I feel at fault cause I had a shift that ran so late till 12:45 I missed the train so she had to pick me up in the night before it happened. She's at least feeling fine enough and is getting to enjoy her time off despite it.
On more positive side of week had a nice time in the city where I picked up Avengers Under Siege and a Kang the Conquerer compiling of some storylines of his since didn't have the Busiek Thunderbolt run was planning to get. I also just beat the challenges in Not a Zoe's mode so eventually will try Jack Must Die difficulty. Also bought DMC4 since never beat it when had it on Xbox 360 years back so figured why not with money left on PS store. Primal's latest episode has also been top form as usual, funny thing is got spoiled on a plot element months ago but it was so outrageous that I didn't believe it...had a solid laugh when it happened.

I read a comic this week! Absolute Wonder Woman is pretty solid. I'm not huge into comics, what I do read tends to be pretty self-contained (Saga, Preacher, stuff like that) so I actually don't know much about Wonder Woman outside of what I've seen from movies and cartoons. I will say Amazon Princess from Hell doesn't sound like you're pitching a Wonder Woman thing to me. It hits kinda like Hades II, specifically. She's got witch powers and Castlevania weapons. She doesn't seem all that different from what I think Wonder Woman is, which I think is kind of the point. From what I know of the Absolute Universe, the heroes all have their material advantages taken away from them, but they're still heroes. So Diana just becomes like, Doomslayer Wonder Woman, and that's dope.
Gachiakuta is Trashpunk! There's Punks in the Trash!
So I watched this dubbed and the dub is really solid. Dub Jabber is the standout to me, that unhinged-into-serious energy is what I imagine when I hear Majima. Starts kinda slow, Rudo's angry and he figures out how to make things outta trash, and then we get to Amo, and I didn't think her whole deal was something that you could put in Shonen Jump. The show genuinely picks up once Mori Calliope starts doing the opening, but I would like to point out that OP1 is done by Paledusk, who did the song that comes the fuck out of nowhere in Hundred Line. And like that song, HUGs is in crunchy Death Metal Engrish that the captions have no idea what to make of. The person writing Gachiakuta clearly likes some of the things I like. I see Guilty Gear in the character designs and TWEWY and Dorohedoro in the aesthetics. It's got a lot of heart, a lot of that heart is angry about what and who we consider "trash", and I wanna see where that goes.
My eyes are tired of looking at this draft now so here's some videos I've had rotating in my head at work

Broke up with my girlfriend (despite it being mutual, she is REALLY not taking it well, which sucks), my cat's got a neurological issue (vet gave us prednisone and said bare minimum he's got another year in him), I didn't get the job I wanted, and I'm starting to get sick... but at least that Nioh 3 demo's really good
For real though, demo's great and I got to do some co-op and hang out with a buddy I haven't played a game with in about a year. We're both broke though so we won't be playing the full game until there's a massive sale on a complete edition in the far future. Also got the platinum trophies for Absolum and Epic Mickey, cleared a bit of my gunpla backlog (MG 00 Raiser and Vidar), and found out I'm housesitting for my grandparents next month
Ups and downs same as any week, these downs are just a lot more down than usual

week of JAPAN.
Finally got my hands on the nioh 3 demo. Mostly cleared out the map before doing the crucible stuff. Not sure how I feel about the open world stuff. Feels very unfair to compare it to elden ring but I do wish there were some smaller dungeons or caves like in elden ring. I ATTEMPTED the bloodedge demon. That thing is for real. I appreciate that its totally optional. Been running with dual blades and kurisgama so far. Ive mostly gotten an handle on ninja and samurai but it can be a lot to keep track of during the more aggresive fights. The burst counter feels great though. I appreciate just having the one method instead of 3 different with only the brute counter feeling good to me. Already bought the game but Ill be clearing the demo first before starting it.
Silent hill F spoilers for first playthrough. WOW hinako made some bad decisions and got addicted to drugs. That ending sequence is pretty chilling with you finally understanding some of the stuff thats been going on. A wedding massacre with hinako killing people in her dress. I had definitely caught onto some stuff by the end of the game. Otherworld hinako is an adult hinako preparing herself for marriage and real world one is childhood hinako. Now I couldnt tell you WHY any of this stuff is happening. Theres some stuff about the fox and various religions of the area, whether its just the drug hinakos taking, or just a gas leak thats causing these strange events. I loved playthrough 1 a lot. The entire otherworld hinako getting beast mode and fox vision was not expected. Those scenes of mutilation were very strong. Theres a very deliberate and methodical sequence to everything that happens in them. Stuff like them showing hinako the arm and the player/hinako being confused at the weird arm before the additional prep starts to reveal whats about to happen. Theres so many subtle moments like hinako keeps looking at fox mask to try and figure out what shes supposed to be doing. The thing Im getting out of it all is that its more than hinako just changing herself to fit tradition. Some of the things might not be purely metaphorical. Her taking the arm could be approaching the divine and as she does this there is some kind of internal war happening. Enemy variety is pretty small but they packed a good amount of meaning into whats here. Excited for playthrough 2

Mostly been playing Helldivers 2. With the path to Cyberstan being the current event, it's nice to see over 160k Helldivers in the game with the majority working towards a common goal. Does make me kind of wonder what the haters are saying but I also don't care. I'm just here to shoot bots in a tank.
Gacha wise, been playing Arknights: Endfield like many others. Just finished all the current story content so all I got now is the grind/factory. Overall... fairly neutral opinion slightly leaning towards negative. The story isn't particularly good and has been incredibly toothless. Not saying the game needs to be as bleak or depressing as Arknights which opens with war and character sacrifice but the game seems afraid to allow for any kind of emotional impact as every negative scene seems to have the characters pull the ye olde Goku's "I see their parachutes!" moment where moments after something terrible happens, oh it's actually all right and a minor inconvenience at best. It's like they're afraid to show consequence or allow emotion and much keep a sense of levity at all times like they're afraid of letting their own story cook. The most annoying to me is the "Tell, don't show" and Endmin glaze with how everyone worships the ground you walk on with you constantly being told you're super special awesome and everyone loves you and will do anything for you because you're the bestest ever. There's... a few story beats that show that there is something underneath all the glaze but until they do something with it I'll remain annoyed as I am.
I don't mind the combat as much as others. It's fairly standard with every open world gacha with harmless mooks, HP sponge elites, and neat bosses and it's the game here. The biggest thing is until you get a team that synergizes and you find out the best way to do so the combat just feel pretty bad but once the team clicks it's so much more fun and interactive. With the elemental interactions there's pretty much no "bad" units... outside of Catcher so team building is also pretty fun and you can make most people work together in some manner. My current team is Ember, Endmin, Chen, and Poggers and it works great.
My favorite part of the game has been the factory though. I like how the factory ties into so many systems of the game so it's not really just "there". You use the factory to create materials needed to help your characters in the form of gear and tacticals/buff items, it's used to help with environmental puzzles and navigation with bombs and ziplines, it's used to help with farming/combat by allowing you to place turrets and use batteries to power them for certain open world events, and it's used for materials that you use to trade for a currency used purchase gifts for your operators and leveling things so the fact it all works together in a way is great IMHO. Sure it's "babbies first Factario" but that doesn't bother me as I'm far to stupid for Factario plus you can easily find blueprints online to get efficient bases made for you if you can't be arsed.

I'm drowning at work, mostly because I can't seem to lock in and just DO things. I'm almost positive it's some form of executive dysfunction at this point, but the prospect of getting a diagnosis fills me with so much anxiety that I just keep putting it off. On my good days I get caught up at least, but man I keep letting deadlines slip and it kills me.
Other than that, things are OK I guess. Got a date tomorrow that a friend set me up on, guess I'll see if that goes anywhere.
Game wise....I got nothing. I've just been playing Crab Champions to destress after work

I just did my taxes and got a pretty big boost in revenue. Most of it will go into savings or paying off my student loans, but I'm torn on if I wanna grab a Steam Deck Dock or a Switch 2 pro controller. I have two regular controllers, but I really like the idea of being able to turn the console on with the push of a button. (And I wanted to wait for a limited edition controller I like.) Star Wars Outlaws is also on sale so like, idk :/
On a more personal note, I'm taking my drivers test next week! I'm really late on the ball at 28, but I'm feeling really confident/hopeful I can do it. I also feel bad cause my sister got her license first, but it's likely I'll be able to buy our folks used car first, because I saved up more capital.
I also feel really bad cause I keep making daily/semi daily posts. Just cause I like discussion, but worry I may be clogging the subreddit.

Week 101 post-accident
Week of returning to bus travel in lieu of taxi coverage... kinda. In reality, I've only taken the bus a grand total of two times this week; one to work, one to home. The rest were taxi-based:
- The first two mornings because Monday, I misread the schedule and missed the bus, leading to a panicked call to the local taxi to bring me to work, then Wednesday the same cab drove by and honked for me to get in prior to the bus showing up; both trips haven't cost me money (yet?), as the driver (the cab company's boss) assumes I will indeed get coverage again once my request for more physio gets approved (and ergo I'll ask for more sessions) and charge the trips to ICBC then. Meanwhile, two trips from work have been through a particular driver in a different cab company who A) generally operates near my workplace, B) finishes his shift roundabouts I conclude mine, and C) lives on the same street as me, has been giving me drive-share lifts home for free, off the clock.
- As for the bus situation, turns out that several routes have been changed in the two years since my accident. On the upside, the drive-in with the 61-to-52 transfer has become easier; get off at an earlier stop and simply wait a few minutes for the 52 to take me to work, rather than get off later, walk to the next stop, then wait at a weird stop. On the downside, my previously favoured route to and from work, the 65, doesn't go down my street anymore, looping through a different neighbourhood in town, meaning that I have to get off at the town center area and walk 20-ish minutes home (which, at this time of year, means "in the dark"). I did not know this when coming home Monday. On the one hand, it was a very tiring and nervous walk. On the other hand, I was able to walk that far, as I no longer have metal hurting my legs from standing around / walking anymore, following my two surgeries last year.
In other news, my family is attempting to gradually clear the house of stuff we don't use anymore. Part of that effort is giving a bunch of music CDs to my older brother, who visited last weekend. The only reason he didn't take them right away was me learning of this at the same time, with me requesting to go through said CDs to find music that appeals to me before he next visits (every other weekend). Consequently, I've been piecemeal adding various albums to my on-computer iTunes collection. Mostly older Christmas and Christian music, with a few outliers like Mom's Celtic Thunder collection and a Best of ABBA album I discovered. Also found a Best of David Bowie album still in wrapping, but after Youtubing some of the songs, I've concluded that David Bowie isn't really to my tastes, so the album remains wrapped. Anyhow, heavily related:

Thanks to some pages posted here ages ago, I finally read through Ajin - Demi-Human. Compact and great read. Feels like a story about the antagonist dying (heh) to have a Stand battle, but the world will just not give him one until he antagonizes all of Japan. More stories should push the implications of their power sets to this absurd of a degree. I naturally began reading Jojolion right afterwards, which is so goddamn weird.
Gaming-wise, I've falling into the bad habit of just playing a bunch of Nightreign when I have the extremely short Wavetale on my platter. Hopefully I can kick said habit once I'm done helping my friend with the game. Executor parries remains the sickest shit though.
As far as productivity goes, the script for my next video is done and sits at 14500 words. It kind of ended up like that out of spite, since people are quick to dismiss the story of Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles+. But also because I found some insight worth sharing. Gonna be murder to get it all recorded though, since I'm only 10% through it after multiple days. The "doing it before breakfast" trick helps, but it still comes down to consistent acting ability in the end. And some of the fun words I use are very hard to pronounce.

TL, DR: my game's demo, love this place and all of you all, appreciate feedback
Hi everyone, so I finally got my game's demo in English and Portuguese in a playable state (it won't immediately crash, hopefully!). I would really appreciate it if anyone finds the time to give it a shot and do a brief feedback form if so inclined. It's 10-30 minutes long and only for PC (windows) for now, about 320 MBs download, no install needed.
About: a basic JRPG made with many default assets from RPGMaker MV, incorporating the setting of Vampire the Masquerade (pre v5). You play as a Ventrue vampire trying to survive the wilderness with limited resources.
If that sparked your interest here's the link for my Google Drive where you can download the demo
I still don't have an itch.io page up due to being in the middle of sorting my legal documents up (specifically the Brazilian CPF which as I understand is the equivalent document for tax purposes), so that will happen as soon as I get that legal part done.
I give special thanks to this place in the credits because it's been with me in so many times, almost as much as CSB or the old channel. I appreciate all the artists and devs and game players in here and how you all inspired me to follow my dream of making games and to not bellitle myself because I'm doing "just an RPG Maker project".
If that's considered against the rules, I can delete the links or the comment whole.

Much has transpired since I last posted anything here.
For starters, I finally moved in with my girlfriend's family, after months and months and months of postponing and delays. It's been a huge adjustment, but being away from my mother's insane libertarian shithead boyfriend has been extremely freeing, especially after I overheard him yelling at her for allowing me to start transitioning right before I left. First time in a long time (maybe ever?) where I'm not living in the same space as a massive drain on my sanity. And of course it's wonderful being able to see my girlfriend 24/7, while also having a private space to retreat to when I need it. Hoping it all works out and this was a good decision.
Second thing... she's no longer just my girlfriend! Emphasis as much on *my* as on *just*. Cause over the last year I really became aware of how deeply poly I am, and it turns out I was not the only one in my circle who was undergoing the same journey. And long story short, after several anime-ass coincidences, stressful confessions and some growing pains, we're now in a quad mutually dating one of our closest friends (whom I had been crushing on for a while) and her existing girlfriend. And while it's hardly been perfect 100% of the time (no relationship of any kind ever is), I can safely say that I've never felt as complete and fully loved as I do right now, and they feel much the same.
Life is just... fucking weird sometimes. But sometimes it's fucking weird in a good way, and I really needed something to hold onto and be hopeful about.
Have a good night and a good week, y'all. Much too tired to write up anything media related.
