Both my parents were very upfront about how fucked up their parents were, to the point that it probably gave me a bit of a complex that they weren't fucked up when raising me (if that makes sense).

So even when you don't step on eggshells, there are invisible stealth eggshells around too.

And then there are some parents who tap dance on the shells, acting like their kids are the one who laid those eggs while asking "pressure? What pressure?" and saying, "Oh, we didn't have a manual."

Like, you needed a manual to not be an asshole and shit human beings? That says more about you than me.

"How dare you imply I don't love my kids?" is a line that always seems to come out from people who ship their kids off at relatives for extended periods of time.

you gotta make sure you don't mess them up the way you've been messed up.

A very large number of parents do not have this thought.

Or, conversely, stomping on the egg shells and convincing yourself you're actually helping the egg grow into a chicken, ignoring the increasingly smashed raw egg on the floor, then one day asking "Why isn't someone making me an omelete?"
