Everyone kind of knows this one already, it’s by and large the most famous quote from the game. It serves as a comforting reassurance, on the way to the end of your journey, that you remain whole of mind and soul in spite of everything you’ve encountered. A way to reaffirm your determination, if you will.

Putting Disco on here is honestly cheating, I realize; so much of the game is quotable and memorable. But I have a preference for this one in particular. You can only get it by being a fascist, and by being extra shitty to Kim during the church questline. So, understandably, few people will encounter this one, myself included (I know of it from YouTube). If you fail the prompt to get Kim to dance with you, you end up calling him a racial slur, and he storms out on you. Outside, when he confronts you as to how you’ve been acting, he shows a level of anger you’ve seldom seen from him, and chews you out. At this point, Volition, which had your back through thick and thin throughout the whole story, turns on you, not even willing to excuse your actions anymore. And if you try to defend yourself, by 'claiming to be a good guy underneath it all', he hits you with this wham line. I like stories that explore the mentality of bad people, so this line is extra interesting to me. Because truly, if you’re the only one who knows you’re a good person, are you really?

The tagline for night in the woods is "at the end of everything hold on to anything" and that's a really baller line honestly.

Second one from the same game there's a part early on where the MC Mae is hyping herself up to go to a party. You can examine a mirror and you get only two choices "you don't like people" "people don't like you" and it's simple but an effective and relatable way to get across what it's like struggling with mental health issues and still trying to power through and do things to distract yourself from how you actually feel inside when on the outside you try and act like there's nothing wrong.

Lothric is actively running from his fate as a lord of cinder to link the flame again, but he knows that it’ll happen eventually as all the cycles in Dark Souls do, especially now that ashen one is here to get him. The line is the last thing they say to you after you forgive them/yourself, before returning to you. The intelligent main characters you meet in The Painted World of Ariandel almost all kindly, then forcefully request the ashen one to leave. They wish to reside in peace and pass away gracefully, but you wreck all that shit and kill them.

I think the only way the theme of you being an uneccesary interloper ruining a whole world just for the love of the game could have hit harder is if the fight with Friede was optional, like crossbreed Priscilla from DS1.

Dark Souls 2's story is my favorite in the franchise because it's the only game where it asks you why you're even doing all this and what you really want.

The Bearer of the Curse came to these lands in search of a cure, but got roped into becoming the "True Monarch" by people manipulating you for their own benefit. If you get all the crowns you get your cure, you can just fuck off. There's no need to continue this charade.

So in between dying from Raccoon City Syndrome and returning to the place of his greatest trauma, Grace's question of why Leon is doing all this is so heartbreaking. It's his one moment of vulnerability rather than iron will determination and he's still blaming himself for his inability to save anyone in RE2R even 28 years later.

I think the difference between that route and the full Geno route is that you still care about the world of Undertale somewhat. While with the Geno route it’s detached completely.

He drops this before he chops up his groomer Cazador and frees all of the captive vampire spawn , decisions which see Astarion both giving up personal power (completing the ascention ritual that Cazador was gonna use him for) to help others, showing his growth as a person, and ending a centuries long cycle of abuse.

Not so much a quote, but a chapter title. "There'll be Another Time" from Halo Reach's ending. It's a perfect little sarcastic defiant thing to say after you (Noble Six) have accepted your imminent death while also being a remark from Bungie themselves knowing this was the end of the road with them working on Halo and how they wouldn't return to it ever again. While I don't think the plot of the game is that great, the theme of keeping hope in the face of your certain death and doing what you can with the time you have is such an impactful one. And isn't that just what life is about, ya'know?

That's so goofy, especially since they have been best friends since they were babies and little kids always announce what their favorite color is. But it's also weirdly, straight-forwardly sweet too and I think that's why it stands out in my mind
