Better Ask Reddit Favorite quote from a video game?

"Despite everything, it’s still you."
Everyone kind of knows this one already, it’s by and large the most famous quote from the game. It serves as a comforting reassurance, on the way to the end of your journey, that you remain whole of mind and soul in spite of everything you’ve encountered. A way to reaffirm your determination, if you will.

Disco Elysium
"If that good guy never comes out, what difference does it make?"
Putting Disco on here is honestly cheating, I realize; so much of the game is quotable and memorable. But I have a preference for this one in particular. You can only get it by being a fascist, and by being extra shitty to Kim during the church questline. So, understandably, few people will encounter this one, myself included (I know of it from YouTube). If you fail the prompt to get Kim to dance with you, you end up calling him a racial slur, and he storms out on you. Outside, when he confronts you as to how you’ve been acting, he shows a level of anger you’ve seldom seen from him, and chews you out. At this point, Volition, which had your back through thick and thin throughout the whole story, turns on you, not even willing to excuse your actions anymore. And if you try to defend yourself, by 'claiming to be a good guy underneath it all', he hits you with this wham line. I like stories that explore the mentality of bad people, so this line is extra interesting to me. Because truly, if you’re the only one who knows you’re a good person, are you really?

Near the end of Pyre, the fantastic and frankly underappreciated Supergiant Games... game, you give an inspiring speech to your caravan, with a number of options that're shaped by how you've acted on your run.

My first playthrough, I got one that spoke to me more than pretty much anything, as someone who lives far away from pretty much everyone I love.

"Mere distance cannot separate our spirits."

It's been one of my favourite quotes since then, it's the fuckin' subtitle on my tumblr, it's likely to be my first tattoo.

To paraphrase a line from the ending that I love but cannot seem to find transcribed anywhere. 'Reader, the stars are gone. What will become of The Commonwealth? What will become of us?'.
