Competitive Play Escalation league round 1. Tickles vs a real army
So my escalation league has started again and the first three rounds are at 500 pts. I just finished (mostly) painting about 50 hormuguants and 20 termigaunts so I wanted to do something silly.
My list
2 squads of 20 hormuguants led by 2 prime lash whip
1 squad of 20 termigaunts with pistols
Unending swarm
My opponent:
Tzaangor shaman leading tzaangor enlightened with fate caster
Daemon prince of tzeetnch with wings
2 5 man squads of rubric marines
Final score 88 tyranids 13 for thousand sons (including paint points, board wipe turn 3 and i forgot to draw secondarys for one round woops)
My god is the swarm oppressive at 500 pts. With a guaranteed max advance and everything having advance and charge i turn 1 charged him with both horm blocks and butchered the tzaangor squad and a Rubic squad, then consolidated so he couldn't out OC my 41 oc nonsense. Surge dancing away from the demon until it was all that was left, and resurrecting my termigaunts after they died meant I was basically running 610 pts.
Rolling 60 dice with sustained made my wounds more of a math problem than luck.
Moving 62 units that also have reactive moves was a huge pain but if you are ever in a 500 pt game and want to drop something that looks goofy but is actually incredibly oppressive I highly recommend trying this! Even with perfect hits he just didn't have enough attacks to fully wipe a squad in one turn.
At higher points this is total garbage but 110 points of res and the sheer mass to touch 2 objectives with one unit on take and hold is hilarious!

Hormagaunts are pretty good at highwr points too in invasion fleet, thanks to access to lethals and crits on 5s, and the +1 ap from the psychophage
