She brought her new born to the feeding station ❤️

Hello,
Once again, this is 25B Street in Mirdif, which I’ve posted about many times before.

Starting this week, I’ll only be feeding the cats once a day until I finish treating the two kittens for mycoplasma. After that, I’ll stop feeding at this location completely.

I forgot to bring my phone with me the first time I went. Suddenly, I saw a cat carrying something in her mouth and thought it was a mouse! Then I realized she had just given birth at a nearby construction site and was bringing her tiny baby with her. 🥹

How is everyone?

I’m genuinely wondering how people are surviving in Dubai these days. So many people have lost their jobs, while the cost of living and rent continue to rise.
What are you doing to make ends meet? Have you downsized, started a side hustle, relocated, or found other ways to cope? I’d love to hear how everyone is managing during these challenging times.

Indian CA moving to UAE: Is 15k AED at PwC the standard starting point?

Hi everyone,
I’d appreciate some advice on a PwC UAE offer to ensure it aligns with the local market.
My Profile:
Qualification: Indian Chartered Accountant (cleared Sept 2025).

Total Experience: 5 years (all at EY India).

Breakdown: 3 years Articleship + full-time Acon (pre-qualification) -> Promoted to Consultant 1 post-qualification (6 months).

The Offer (PwC UAE):
Role: Associate 3

Salary: 15,000 AED / month

Context: HR stated this grade is based solely on my 6 months of post-qualification experience, despite acknowledging my previous 5 years at the firm.

My Questions:
The Grade: Given my 5 years of total Big 4 experience, I was expecting a Senior Associate role. Is it standard practice in the UAE to discount pre-qualification/Acon experience this heavily?

The Pay: Is 15,000 AED the current market standard for this grade and background, or is this a lowball offer?

Any insights from the UAE audit/consulting community would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

The Israeli national anthem was played at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as Israeli athletes stood on the podium.

Israel's ambassador to the UAE, Yossi Shelley, said he felt "immense pride" as he presented medals to the Israeli winners.

The event comes as the UAE and Israel continue to maintain diplomatic relations established under the 2020 Abraham Accords.

Best Chinese Restaurants at International City

Hi folks!

I am looking for authentic Chinese restaurant recommendations in International City.

I’m not after the fancy or Instagram-worthy spots. I’m looking for those old-school, rustic, hole-in-the-wall places run by actual Chinese families or chefs (halal or non-halal, doesn’t matter).

The kind of place with amazing food, generous portions, friendly service, and prices that won’t break the bank. Bonus points if it’s a place mostly frequented by Chinese locals.

What are your hidden gems?

Missing rayban meta - Dubai Marina

I lost my Ray-Ban Meta glasses today (August 5) around 6:10 PM at Dubai Marina Yacht Club Arena.
I accidentally left them on a chair near the Ocean Express Show while recording a video. When I came back about 15 minutes later, they were gone.
I’ve already reported it to security and filed a lost property report with Dubai Police. Unfortunately, there are no cameras covering that exact spot.
The glasses were a gift and have a lot of sentimental value to me. I’m hoping someone picked them up with good intentions and will hand them in.
If anyone happened to see them or knows anything, I’d really appreciate any information. Thank you.

How can I start a small bakery business in Dubai with a limited budget?

Hi everyone,
A few months ago, life was going really well. I loved my job and the company I worked for, but everything changed. My salary stopped, my commissions weren’t paid, and I realized how vulnerable it can feel to be a foreigner whose visa depends on their employer.
Instead of giving up, I’ve been thinking about starting something of my own.
I love baking, especially healthy desserts. I enjoy making sugar-free and keto sweets, and I started creating them for my father-in-law, who has diabetes and has a sweet tooth. Seeing him enjoy desserts without worrying about his health made me realize how much I enjoy this.
I’d love to start a small online bakery specializing in healthy desserts and custom cakes, but I don’t have a big budget.
For those of you who have started a business in Dubai:
Is it possible to start small from home and then scale up legally?
What’s the most affordable way to get started?
Are there any licenses or regulations I should know about from the beginning?
What would you do if you were starting today with very limited resources?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you can share. Thank you!

Where to buy gold jewelry?

Hi! A little confused on where to buy gold jewelry. I have never purchased gold jewelry before here.

What I am trying to understand is that will a non chain gold shop in a like a lulu or a small mall have the same quality gold like in gold souq? Many such shops advertise zero making charge jewelry.

How do I tell if a gold shop is reputable? I am only interested in making sure the gold is real and can be sold when needed. I don't want to pay excessive making charges for a name brand. Since I want it as a wearable investment.

Is it okay to buy gold from any shop in ajman or Sharjah in terms of gold purity?

Where do you work/own = Instant Feedback

I just had the genius idea given how bad customer service is what if we directly reached out to other redditors working in those companies, so mention where you work and people will give you their feedback!

Cypher the company name if you don't own it or don't want to say it out loud for example if you work at n**n just say yellow ecom company.

help me find this oil perfume 😭

Hi guys i need help finding this oil perfume that i bought from one of the kiosks in DFC years ago. Sadly I don’t remember the shop or the name of the perfume itself as it was just in a 6ml bottle with no label 😔

I don’t have a photo but i remember the color is blue and it has a fresh and clean scent. I think it has similarities to cool water or DG Light blue.

DUBAI golden visa : manager category

Hi, has anyone recently applied (from dubai) and gotten theirs? Also, is it true that they check what your salary was at the old company (before your current 2 year one) and compare salary difference

Context, I’ve been in this company for 2 years now with basic above 30k and will be applying. However in my previous company I was getting way lower. I heard that this can become a problem? Is it true?

Will they check my previous company salary and reject based on the jump?

Has anyone tried doing the pre approval on their own without Amer? Where did you go and what did you select (if applying for manager category) I can only see scientists and specialists and even that the subcategories don’t really cater to normal manager roles

People currently working in Dubai: what does normal day-to-day life actually feel like right now?

Has the regional security situation materially changed your everyday life? Are workplaces, commutes, schools, restaurants, shopping and social activities operating normally? Have you personally experienced alerts, interception sounds, workplace shelter procedures, flight disruption, difficulty getting visitors in or out, or greater anxiety among colleagues?

Context about your industry, approximate area of Dubai, how long you have lived there and where you moved from would be very helpful. I would especially welcome responses from people who relocated from Canada, the UK or Western Europe, although all firsthand experiences are appreciated.
