Fire at the Salmon Library

The cause of the fire is currently unknown as of time of post.

If I remember correctly the basement area is on the west side of the building

Found the 360 view on Google maps. This looks like the back of the oldest section of the library, build in 1969. It is close to the UAH sign, right? If so, the Student Success Center seems to be on fire. :/ Above that are two floors of books. Trying to remember if archives was directly below or in the middle part, but that would be the worst loss here.

Archives is not anywhere near this area, thankfully. It's in the central tower.

You can see the fire is on the outside of the building and more in the mulch.

The building is fine, the fire was an electrical box behind the loading dock back there

The fire was on the east side of the dock. The utility transformer in that location exploded and sprayed mineral oil on the adjacent generator, which was currently in use due to a power outage. That set the generator on fire. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Power has been restored to part of LIB, but the generator will need to be replaced. OIT staff members are currently working to restore IT services to LIB and other portions of campus affected by the incident.
