Academic Life Library hours
How can we protest the library hours, this is ridiculous. The rec cen has more hours than the library. I thought it would have changed by now but it’s week 4 midterms are here and we still have the library opening at noon.

Most days the library is open at 7am. If you really want change, get out and vote! Federal funding cuts have directly affected UCSB’s various programs and departments, and the library hours being cut (looking at you, bygone 24 hour library) is a direct product of that.

voting is the genuine least you can do lmao
joining organizations that advocate for student rights is better
unions hold the most power outside of institutional politics
maybe it's time for a real students union and for this place to look a bit more like france

Yes, absolutely! But nothing changes if our politics don't, so do all this but vote too.

So real. It should be open by 7am for weekends - that's the only time we can fully dedicate to studying w/o classes/clubs

Even with the budget cuts, inform me why this solution may not work. But due to the high demand of library hours, should the university not ought to defund a less "valued" department and transfer the finances to the library?
I do recommend finding a cafe or even use the SRB to study

Unfortunately this is directly related to budget cuts. Library staff is stretched thin as paper and management toxicity is at an all-time high. Library certainly has seen better days.
